Ayn Rand jumps through hoops to justify greed and selfishness, which is why she enjoys popularity with each new generation of teenagers and "Young Republicans". If you want to be a Nazi, have the courage of your convictions and go all the way.
@Gulfporter Fascists come from the left; always! Again no specifics just name calling! Can you Name one left leaning government that's a model for success? The formula for sucess is to identify a need and be able to provide it for a price that is less than the cost to those that are willing to buy it. How do you put what you deem a virtuous system for enterprise into words? Try not to defame anyone in your reply otherwise this thread will die with your venom. Rand was a Jew Hitler was a Fascist
@ajay58us BTW, he lost. Dear Mother! burst the tyrant's chain, Maryland! Virginia should not call in vain, Maryland! She meets her sisters on the plain- Sic semper! 'tis the proud refrain That baffles minions back amain, Maryland! Arise in majesty again, Maryland! My Maryland!
Yea the best social program is a job, too bad a job can not be easily found without the aid of government social programs. The ideas of Charles Lollar and his tea party brethern may lower taxes and get rid of social programs however people's paychecks will certainly be lower and many people will lose jobs if social programs and government spending as a whole is lowered.
@happywarrior89 Read Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead. After doing so please get in touch to discuss specifics. Remember the woman who wrote these novels on the defense of free-market capitalism immigrated from soviet Russia when she was 25 years old. She will tell you all you need to know about socialism. Good reading!
@ajay58us I said something logical, Atlas Shrugged type economics don't work and have been proven to do so. Also what we have now is nothing like Socialism, if you think so you really need to check a dictionary for what socialism actually is.
@happywarrior89 I said I would discuss specifics not generalizations. I fully understand that what you said is logical to you, now fom your argument with cogent examples What would you call a system that: 1)Takes over banks, 2)Takes over private corporations 3)Monetizes its debt 4)places ultimate control of our economy in the hands of an unelected tax cheat 5)Overturns the bond holders of a corporation in favor of its unions 6)Requires that you buy something? Be specific with your reply.
"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny; When the government fears the people, there is Liberty!" -Thomas Jefferson!
Health Care is 20% of our economy. If, in fact, the government controls 20% of our economy, how would that make you feel? Health care is not a "right" it's a luxury! Can anyone show me in the Bill of Rights where it states that we are "guaranteed" health care? I, for one, will not pay for health care for the masses... Loretta in Louisiana. P.S. I love this man!!
Very inspiring. The founding documents contain the tools for conservatives. They were given to us at the founding of the country and passed forward. Lets get back to learning how they work and using them from here on.
Charles Lollar is what we need so desperately in Maryland and in the United States of America... Listen to the common sense he has and how he can lead the fight back to a free America...
The point is that they are the sore losers that voted for McCain. They want to carry on the campaign even though Obama won by a huge majority and most people are fed up with failed Bush/Republican policies that squander all of our tax dollars on unpopular wars overseas. Obama may not be perfect, but at least he's better than 4 more years of Bush / McCain policies which served the wealthy and screwed the middle class and poor.
Actually, we weren't all that hot for McCain. And Obama didn't win by a huge majority. 31% is not considered a huge majority. It shows that GOP's stayed home. The Tea Party is about Americans both Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or whatever that are tired of their government overreaching into their lives and wallets and taking their money. That's the point.
31% ? Obama won the popular vote by about 7 million votes nationwide over McCain. Thats a pretty good win. The most surprising thing is that he didn't win by more, after 8 years of Bush & Cheney.
Yea, paying a combined 32% of my gross income to the state and federal government is really helping me, a middle class citizen. The government deserves every penny of my money to help the less fortunate who don't work as hard as I do.
Yeah, it's a shame. If we were to cut military spending by half we could cut taxes and reduce the federal deficit. Under Bush, we had misplaced priorities that put America in the condition it's in. At least the money Obama is spending is helping Americans other than just the military. Military spending can bankrupt a nation as we've seen.
With exception to a few Republicans the Ron Pauls, the Ehrlichs, the Lollars just to name a few of my favorites. I am done with the two parties. It is my feeling that the people really do want change, and that is why they voted for Obama, his message of change and hope really resonated with we the people. Too bad, we only got a lot more of the same. It is my feeling that real change is only going to come when the people finally abandon the two parties that abandoned them so many years ago.
I agree, but the overwhelming majority are stuck in the two party system. There's no reason to believe that even if a viable third party came along and was competitive that they would be any different once elected. Power corrupts the corruptible, and most people seeking power are the worst. Nothing will change until Christ Jesus returns and establishes his kingdom on Earth. That will likely happen within the next 10 years.
Do you believe Obama is different than Bush? He said he would end the war but he sends more troops. He is going to help us by spending even more than Bush did (which by the way I thought was impossible) In my opinion this man speaking even though he is Republican is more different than Bush than Obama ever will be. I am with you in that Bush had to go and I cannot figure out how he was re-elected in 2004. I am embarrassed to admit that I voted for him the first time.
I and my son were at the tea party & heard Mr. Lollor speak. He was very impressive as was all the speakers. All had great points. Everything he said was true and common sense. I don't think the current administration wants socialism...they want more than that, they want communism. It's sneaking up on us faster than most people think. PLEASE continue to expose this &open eyes, Mr. Lollow & all our Rep. leaders, never stop the "good fight". God is one OUR side... along with the military :)
However funny or sad it may seem, the 500-600 people (Sheriff's official estimate at 3:15 pm) who showed up on a sunny Sunday afternoon to express themselves and become energized have never done this before. This is a spontaneous and growing nationwide movement that comes from the grass roots up, not the top down. The tea parties are a beginning; the actions will follow. 2010 is an election year, after all!
What's funny/sad about this is that they got just 300 people at their rally. That number represents just 0.3% of the number of people who voted for Steny Hoyer's last GOP opponent.
In other words, Steny Hoyer probably had a good laugh about them, if he was even informed about them at all.
The tea parties need to get a clue and do something effective, like this:
peekURL com/z7m6a9k
Unfortunately, I don't think they have the IQs or the personality traits to understand any of this.
First and foremost, Steny Hoyer is in a safe district, so I highly doubt he cares. All of the gerrymandering in this state left Calvert and St. Mary's County with ghetto Prince Georges and Ann Arundel Counties in our district, so Steny is guaranteed reelection (add on to the fact that House incumbents win reelection 94% of the time).
Second, Charles Lollor never challenged Steny Hoyer, so I have no idea what you are referencing.
Third, who are you to criticize people taking advantage of their constitutional right to peacefully assemble? At least these people are trying to change what they see is wrong in Maryland, whereas you sit and post nasty comments under youtube videos, or try to smear people with your blog that no one reads.
Finally, just because a person does not share the same view as you does not mean that their intelligence is any less than yours. If anything it is the uneducated citizens of PG and Anne Arundel counties that do not have the intelligence to understand the issues because they blindly vote party lines, whether or not they realize that their party is trying to keep them dependent on social programs so they can keep their constituency.
Martin....you drank way too much of that coolaid. I bet you don't have a clue what socialism is, do you? The part about a job must have really hit home for you eh?
The self-delusion of you people is embarassing. The "silent majority" you imagine is not there. The people are with the president. The people want some socialism. Does any of you have an original thought? All these words ar old and done. And that last statement from Loller was a threat of violence. You can't have a rally without encouraging violence because that's all you people are about, ultimately. The pathetic part is, the leaders you support will take the last dollar out of YOUR pocket.
talk about deluded you fit the bill. and a rally without violence? when does the left march or rally without violence?
you are an idiot. and if it keeps going the way its headed there will be violence and you are not going to like it.
just remember there are no Left wing militias. And after 40 years of bashing the military do you think they will come to your defense during a civil war? most likey they will join us
By the way Martin, I was at the Solomon's tea party. There was no encouragement for violence, believe it or not people can be angry and peace full at the same time (contrary to DHS).
