The very thing that some people are so depressed about can be a huge source of inspiration if they just change some of their belief systems. In this new age it's not about fitting into a role that society has carved for you but creating something better. All the old systems are collapsing because they no longer suit us. This is an opportunity to build something new & better to replace the old when it falls. There is so much work to be done, let's reshape the world the way WE want it to look.

I found that volunteering (for me its elderly in nursing homes) creates a wonderful change inside of me. When I first became disabled I did throw myself a huge pity party, but pulled out by looking around, seeing those in more need and pain then myself. Now I am grateful I have the time to help others, and the rewards do not go into my bank account but into my soul.

hey rocker chic, im just watchin your pieces, so im commenting again. proverbs chapter 13 says a wise man forseeth evil, and hides himself. but the fool continues on and is destroyed. talk about a survival verse. ive said for many years that about 7 to 9 percent of all people get it. at all. jesus said narrow is the gate , and few there be that find it. theres a veil of knuckle headedness i believe now because were near the end. the things i see people do and say, well your a breath of fresh air

Thanx for the kind words. A lot of people don't know it IS possible to be a Christian AND a rocker! I don't know where people get this idea that metal is satanic (there are some fringers "out there" but relatively few in comparison and mainstream metalheads really don't pay any attn to them). God made each of us with our own unique likes and dislikes. The Lord loves rockers, too!

You make good points and I agree to a certain point. I'm preparing for the collapse and setting myself up to help my family and neighbors when things get bad.

But:

I've been told many times that the world doesn't owe me anything. The reverse then must also be true. I don't owe anything to the world. If things get so bad that I can't stand it anymore, I fully intend to waste myself. Knowing that about myself is a big reason why I've worked so hard to prepare. I don't want to exercise that option.

I'm glad you don't want to! You are obviously a smart guy, and I think once you are in an survival situation, you'll see it as a challenge and find the strength you thought you'd never have.

Quite true. When I'm given a problem or a puzzle, I get a very powerful urge to solve it. Back in nov 07 when I got wind of this economic collapse I started working the problem. Well, I'm lying actually. I went into shock and a terrible depression for a couple days. I was grieving for the future of everyone and saying goodbye to the life I thought I would have. Then I got over it and started getting busy.

Did you go into shock too? Or did you leap instantly into action?

I've certainly had my moments. It's perfectly normal to have those feelings! What you are experiencing is similar to grief - denial, anger, depression, bargaining and acceptence - and not necessarily in that order! It's OK to feel angry, sad about this. Just remember that we know how this ends (prophecy - it's in the bible) In the end, the "good guys" win. Yes, the process will be horrific, but pray and God will give you strength. In the end, there will be a new beginning.

What's wrong with a person feeling that they want to check out of this life and "break on to the other side"? I am not really trying to condone suicide, but I do feel that everyone has a choice when it comes to their own fate. Nobody owes anybody else anything. Also, nobody gets out of this life alive, and nobody lives forever. What's really the difference of dying now or dying when you are old? How is living really important in the grand scheme of things. Just some food for thought...

You are SO correct! We are called by God to help those on the fringes of society. Just as Jesus did when he was here. He didn't hang out with the elite religious leaders of the day, he worked and helped the disadvantaged. He preached to sinners. We are called to do the same, to work with the poor, the imprisoned, the sinners of this world.
