  • Fascinating film, but very disturbing. This is what cinema is all about. It feels like a return to eden.

And the end signifies the end of childhood.

But the Aborigines fate to me didn't make any sense.

  • hahaha, they still talking in brit accent.

  • The novel is brilliant. Back when it was written I bought it for my 10-year-old nephews and sons. No girls in the family to buy for. Have just ordered the film.

  • So glad I was born in 1974. My dad took my sister and I to so many awesome movies back in the 70's & early 80's! Eraserhead, Repoman, Buckaroo Banzai,The Elephant Man, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Blade Runner, The Last Wave, The Night Porter and so many others. Thanks Dad for having such great taste in film and for sharing it with us. Note, Jenny Agutter (sister in Walkabout) went on to play the girlfriend in An American Werewolf in London, great performance!

  • Some excellent shots of the bush.

And the scenery's not bad either, drrrrTISH

  • They showed this at my school in Australia, I was about 8 years old. The openign scene with the shooting and the fire really traumatized me. Shocks me still to this day remembering how completely terrified and confused that scene left me, and the insanity of showing it to youngsters at school. Sure there is more to be said of the movie, but I thought I'd offer something different here for the moment.

  • @rjkral Beautiful movie-one of my favorites- but I'd never show it to an 8 year old schoolkid.Kids are subjected to enough too soon. And to think nowadays, even more so.

  • Pity about the American voice trying to sell this film. Someone like John Laws might have been better.

  • What is the song at the end of the video? I can't understand it?

  • This was a gourgeous film. i love it soooooo much. it's so different but it's amazing:)

  • this movie is beautiful (except when they actually kill kangaroos before our eyes; i'm a vegetarian and i forget how i live in la la land - people do actually eat animals everyday, but no one thinks of the cruel conditions and fate of these deer souls)

that said, it does work for the film to show the dark side of nature; pain is a part of life and reality can be a slap in the face

  • How naked do they get?

  • First saw this in film class. It's one of those movies you either love or hate. I love it. Classic.

  • A film that is loved or loathed it is the closest you will get to the true outback. Have you ever lost your way from your front door to the road? I have. If you dont like the movie then try the musicyou will find yourself watching the movie again and understand what this land and people are all about. I left that magic country and I am on my own walkabout. I will return to find my heart in the deep coloured land called Australia soon. NG

  • @nggardener

Have you ever lost your way from your front door to the road? If you said yes, you're probably either 4 years old or retarded. Possibly both.

  • @bjsparntz What if you have alzheimers?

  • @bjsparntz I'm guessing his point is that he has a very long driveway.

  • Live on, Don

  • I finally got to see this film, and I have to say it was fascinating. Hard to forget the mesmerizing images, perfect performances, unique story and wonderful, wonderful music.

  • Roeg = Class

  • good film but where can i get the theme music from ?

  • ask jon barry

  • I got mine from Ebay

  • my mom took me to see this movie when I was 8 years old at the Jeffrey theatre in chicago. i'll never forget it.

  • lol (:

  • @bboyzball Your mom was a bitch.

  • into my heart an air that chills, I recommend this film to everyone it is a work of art

  • please somebody post the movie!!!!!

  • Does anyone know who did the voice over work for the trailer? He has a really cool voice.

  • Roeg is such a talented director. This cinematography is superb here..all the colors and textures of the Outback...perfectly blended...

  • This is a very rare movie, I've seen ever.

Story, extraordinary cinematography and of course John Barry's score make it a masterpiece.

  • This has to be the best movie to see! Landscapes are great! Ending is sad! An aboriginal keeping two anglos alive, and what's his thanks? Typical! If you're hindi, you can understand what aborinal is saying!
