good 'ol tape and beta camera's from the 80's , try recording the same shit with digital.... you wouldn't be able to see shit, but a bunch of out of focus pixels.
@broadwaybv haa u must be trying to test the new yorkers out there or u just dont know that ur wrong...he's heading uptown on 3rd ave then makes a right onto 112st headin towards 2 ave
you dont know what your talkin about...look at pleasant ave...the parks dept warehouse torn down..on 116th and pleasant they are building a target..huge fuckin mall...million $ condos across from the Lexington houses. washington houses to the jeffersons...its all plastic...its all one big duane reades and starbucks...fucking yuppy migrants kicked up out
yess suurrr...you know it.. speaking of LES.have you seen that ugly blue building on Norfolk st?? my man its soo out of place and ugly...but nothing bothers me more than the rich over privilaged pretentious yuppies with their head in their ass acting like their shit dont stink...
of course!!! that blue building is the worst design ever! Its one thing if u clean up the neighborhood..its another if u allow rich yuppies to move in and take over with their "luxury" apts. But i dont know how they're gonna afford it with all of them losing their jobs going on unenployment like everyone else
I"m from the hood and if u press pause with 1 second that store is suppose to be pegesus and that store was built in 92-93 its not even there so yup this is the 80's
Sometimes you can tell the date of this footage(or any footage) thru the year of the cars/makes parked along side of a street. My guess is probrably taken in 1989-90. But from seeing this footage, El Barrio changed a lot specially on 3rd Ave(106th-125th st).
I'm also thinking this was early 90's maybe like 92, you can also date the footage by what people are wearing if any are visible (especially young ones). The cars are also an indicator but in a place like spanish harlem you have to remember that if it is 90 most people have a car at least 8 years to 10 years old. This would be especially true in the 80's when the disparity between lower incomes and higher was greater than now. In the 90's the neighborhood incomes increased.
my old neighborhood, i live on the block the car turned on, right across the street from our lady queen of angels school. Wow - brings back memories of the summer "jams" fridays and saturday nights. Anyone remember??
well both have crime one is not worst then the other even just yesterday 05/26/08 on 125 & Lex there was a shooting and a couple of people were shot the cops had to close to streets!
Alot of Mexicans. They have taken over 116 street with businesses and even have festivals and parades there! Yeah it shocked me when it began to happen slowly.
Ha ha...its true but its also true that every group to East Harlem has had its chance to be the new comer whether illegal or not (Italians, Black, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans etc). I wonder if this was very late 80's because some of those businesses are still there! Thanks for the video!
Riding in a bus filming out the window. Was a good camera for the 80s.
