You see I watched this episode... thought it was just, ok. Lacked any real heart beating moments and I kept waiting for that moment and it never came. Bill Bailey was also hardly in it. It felt like I watched a 20minute episode instead of the full size because there was so little actually in it. And then I watched last years Christmas special which I hadn't seen and I was AMAZED!
I felt like the referenes to the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe were too strong at the begining, the harp in the corner when he was showing them around realy anoyed me for some reason.
My favouite part was when the borble fell came off the tree and grew and hatched.
I think the dad living at the end was indeed because it was a Christmas episode, to make it a happy ending. The episode would've probably been better with him dying, if it weren't for the amazingly symbolic reference to "following the star" that kept him alive.
I'm not at all super religious or anything, but I couldn't help but find that a little amazing.
@yrpgullwings I know it's because it was the Christmas episode, still I feel like it's like that all the time now. and omfg I totally missed that reference, you just blew my mind :)
@Hellen813 It's OK. Maybe one day I'll get out from under my rock. I hope I don't go blind from all the awesome, ahaha - a good portion of my friends as Whovians.
@edgehaedjr you might go blind for like a minute the first time you see David Tennant in action, but I'm sure you'll be fine:) think about it. We, whovians, would welcome you with a hug :)
@Hellen813 In that case, I'll begin watching it soon. David Tennant. ;) Should I start with with 9th or 10th though? Got to read The Hunger Games and watch/read the The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest first though. That mean I'll start next week. I've got a month until I go back to school anyways.
@edgehaedjr I'd say start with 9 :) You should start at the beginning so you won't be confused. And 9 is lovely too! Come on, Chris Eccleston is a fantastic doctor :)
I actually really liked this episode of Doctor Who, even though the cheesiness of some of the scenes. And I totally support the idea of Bill Bailey replacing Karen as the assistant XD

@Georaga I know exactly what you mean, last years was better, but nothing beats The End Of Time. or Voyage of the Damned . imho

It was alright, but what bothered me was that the plot was more or less the bacis plot of Narnia.

@KrullLina exactly! just seeing the title I thought "it's going to be like Narnia"

At least it wasn't the power of love conquering all (so muchas it usually was!) Must say though, favourite Doctor quote was:
"What's the point in them being happy now, if they're going to be sad later?
The answer is... because they are going to be sad later"
:) Happy New Year Hellen!

@Hellen813 I know what you mean. If you're sure everyone's going to survive at the end, it's not fun anymore.

Apparently I do live under a rock because I have seen it. Then again, I haven't seen more than 15 minutes of an episode so, yeah...
