  • And howabout 17th October as Teesside day, we are not Geordies and we are not Yorkshiremen, we just love Teesside, 100 years birthday of the Transporter Bridge

  • Takes me back to when I first met Vin in the late 60s. Brilliant song which will not fade away. I think it should be adopted as the Teesside anthem.

  • Nice! makes me proud to be a Smoggie! :-))

  • omg i listened to this song in school to for the impresion of teeside!

  • That just says everything about Teeside brings back all the great memories of Sunday hikes on the moors. Now how do we start the push for the MBE for services to Folk music.

  • Vin Garbutt is an amazing entertainer; I have the LP The Valley of Tees and quite a few of his CDs. Love the photos in this video.

  • Still an unmistakeable voice

I remember him sing this just after he wrote it at a local folk club in the North East!

Showing my age - and Vins - but he is unique

    Long may you sing!

  • An absolute legend Vin. Bloody marvellous

  • Another brilliant performance by Vin

  • Followed your link off Vin's website. I'd love to have the Valley of Tee's on CD as I only have the original on vinyl L.P. This was Vin at his best in my opinion. I'm hoping to see him at Lymm Rugby Club in the Summer of 2008. Thanks for posting it, he clearly deserves an MBE for his services to Folk music and I think that all of his fans should push for it.

  • it is on his 'Songbook' CD, available from his website

  • I have just found your videos what a find. I grow up in Stockton-on-tees and spent alot of time in the Folk clubs, had some good friends in the Fettlers folk group, sadly lost contact with them over the years. Thanks for the memories

  • My comment posts do not seem to work so will try this again - just wanted to say what great videos

I remember Vin from the Folk club in Stockton in the 1960s

  • Written at 23! Brilliant song and brilliantly played and sung.
