Of course they try and bite, and sometimes they do. I mostly feed frozen/thawed, but I have a few snakes that are particular about only live mice. Like both of the Sinaloans and my pair of Scarlet Kingsnakes.
The reason I asked my initial question is because I am thinking of getting a corn snake and I would hate to see it get hurt by a mouse. I guess I will try to feed frozen and see if that works, hopefully. If not, I will have no choice but to feed live.
Corn snakes are real easy to take care of. Good beginner snake. They are very docile. Ours have never even tried to bite and they feed readily on frozen/thawed mice of the correct size.
Lord NO! They are completely harmless and come in a variety of colors and morphs. We have over 30 snakes in our collection and it all started with my wife believe it or not.
how can u teel froam a nelson and a sinaloan milk snake ? and which of all milk snake (which are commonly found in pet shops) stays th smallest as an edult.
woo i just got a 4 month old sinaloan yesterday so at the moment its gonna be eating pinkys but i feel bad when i see a mouse gettin owned by a snake :'( still.. cant wait to feed mine live ones :P
The Sinaloan has more red space between the black bands. This is the same type of snake that was used in the Mummy and the 2nd Pirates of the Carribean.

Beautiful snake.
I have nothing against feeding live prey to snakes, but I am curious, when you feed live mice, do they ever try to bite the snake in defense?

Thanks again for your response. I appreciate it. Now I just have to convince my wife that a corn snake is not an evil, venomous creature.
