why would lego go with star wars over star trek? star trek might i say has way more ships and sets that can be made compared to star wars. i mean seriously, the same ships were repeated in star wars so many time not only in the movie but in legos. why doesnt lego just drop it and pick up star trek. i have seen some really amazing ships that look just like the real thing so why cant they make them? lego company is stupid
Well, First: Lego are using the Star Wars expanded universe aswell, thats an incredibly large amount of source material for the building of ships.
Second: Star Trek ships follow a particular method, all Federation ships have that same engine, and while its inventive, I only started noticing differances within the ships recently (mainly 'cause i had no interest in Star Trek)
If you have little interest in Star Trek, then your opinion is biased, no offense. I think Star Wars appeals to a younger audience, therefore their merchandise follows suit. Legos are for little kids, and that is Star Wars' target group.
@terminattheconqueror Yes Star Trek has often been identifided as needing a General Intelligence which young children do not usually have, Young children are more interested in Explosions and what not.
@J3rre I agree, a Star Trek lego set would be awesome. But the ship design is much more complicated and they would probably end up making the saucer too small or flat. It's quite tricky to make the "neck" stay together when building a Galaxy class starship, like I did. It ended up being maybe 65 cm in length and 45 cm wide. I didn't have the heart to break it so it's still gathering dust on my bookshelf. The rubber bands of her torpedo launchers have dried and snapped years ago.
@WilfredIvanhoe Miranda Classes don't have the "neck" ,but, yeah I can't see them releasing sets of all the other ships except for the Enterprise Lineage sets, maybe NX-01, but, even that's a stretch.
@J3rre theres TONS of ships/vehicles in SW. more so than in trek. x-wing, y-wing, a-wing, b-wing, falcon, blockaed runner, ISD, acclamator, droid control ship, naboo starfighter, droideka, vulture droid, CIS cruiser, csi frigate, slave 1, jedi starfighter, jedi starfighter (ep III), imperial shuttle, v-wing, tie fighter, tie interceptor, tie bomber, sith infiltrator, queens starship, padames ship (ep 2) solar sailor, jedi starship, federation landing craft, those are just the ones from memory.
@J3rre and no lego isnt stupid. going with trek would be stupid. why? because lego caters to a young market. how many kids do you see wanting to buy a phaser vs a lightsaber?
