@leandrosfilm Of course there are going to be films students who don't know anything and then there will be ones that know a lot.  It all depends on determination and passion for the craft. Besides, I know a lot of fellow classmates who have worked on film sets while still in school (myself included). I do however feel like film school sugar coats things a little too much which is why real world experience is invaluable. There are students who do better work than some pros. that I've seen.

The worst thing about film students like those getting punched in the face is that they have foolproof reasons for why a film is bad for a fact, so much that the other person in the argument with them can't say anything back. This happened to me when I talked to one guy about the new Star Trek film, and it got to a point where he mocked me and called me stupid for liking it. Completely unprofessional.

I really love this video. As a film student, I can totally relate. I hate how people think that being completely original and out there is the ultimate goal when it comes to making a film. @YepThatsaVideo I'm also a film student myself however, i disagree about just film something cute.cliche, etc. Being a student is about allowing yourself to go above and beyond without much risk. Why would you play it safe all through film school? If you want to get anywhere you have to take chances and make something that may be challenging or out of your comfort zone. I do however agree with the narrative stuff...experimental film is stupid. Just my thought.

A. If the movie had "no acting" or "no cinematography" it would just be a blank screen (just like that "inventive" movie with the lens cap on)

B. Really? You've never seen a student film that was just a close-up of an eye, or a remake of a scene from a better movie with a stupid twist (like animal masks)? That's basically every student film I've ever seen. If you've only seen unpretentious student films, you wouldn't get the joke.

Society is quick to let them know that nobody cares about what they know and perceive until they do, in fact, accomplish something - just like a nice punch in the face.
