  • where is the boogie part?

  • I'm learning this in P.E(:

  • @rachelkelsibfflad Me too, bet i know you :}

  • This is why I loved watching Hey Arnold so much as a kid.

  • Thank u!!!!!! I can now swing dance with my boyfriend!

  • swing music and dance is amazing

  • @novus21 You haven't seen my videos or Hellzapoppin yet. Lindy Hop is what makes swing dancing amazing.

  • We have to do the swing dance at my school and if I have to do this ima scream!!!!

  • @Ixta4521 No I'm in college AFROTC

  • Can't see your feet!

  • I'm teaching my best friend's boyfriend to swing dance. -_- Why can't she do it?

  • @CohesionyNewspaper If you are using this video, there's a reason why. Try searching for "Lindy Hop" and your city/state. That's real swing dancing.

  • @CohesionyNewspaper Trial by fire :) Most swing clubs will have a lesson beforehand. Make sure he has good frame, bad frames ruin dancers.

  • yeah sure! just basic little steps....sarcasm

  • i am watching this because my date really likes to swing dance.......man

  • watch this with dire straits - sultans of swing from media player.

  • i bet they had furiously passionate sex after this

  • @theblackops37 only someone stupid enough to play black ops wud say that

  • @theblackops37 so funnny lol dude

  • @theblackops37 exactly what i was singing...keep your wait on the BALLS of you feet ha ha ha rofl lmao

  • @linuxkicksmac Keep trying, you'll eventually get it.

  • Dance is still the best entertaiment..DANCE IS STILL THE BEST PAST TIME FOR ALL---THANK YOU FOR VIDIOS...

  • Good instruction, clearly presented. The music sounds like it is in a tin can. Did not like the music. "Well Benson you can't have everyghing"! I guess your right. I gave it a thumbs up.

  • I will not buy folgers after seeing their add.

  • first i must win i need money!!

  • SSSSSSMOKIN'! God I love The Mask...now im so into swing dancing xD love it

  • @SSJ1Igor Make sure you learn Lindy Hop.

  • Well, watching THIS is not how to become good at swing dancing. Take classes from certified instructors who can explain technique, frame, connection, etc. Even for social dancing, it's very important.

  • @hiphopbellydancer prob is they only teach you little bits at a time of several dances so you have to keep paying, instead of teaching how to do a whole dance from start to fin.

  • Im watching this because SWING DANCING IS AWESOME!

cant wait get Good at this

  • @LogicalMayhem00 Make sure you learn Lindy Hop! It's the original swing dance. :-)

  • Im watching this becouse SWING DANCING IS AWESOME!

cant wait get awesome at this :)

  • doing this in gym tomorrow

i'll let ya know how it goes! haha

  • @missfashion241 If you can, try and get people to NOT do the pretzel. It's a salsa move, not a swing dance move.

  • Looks like a lot of fun

  • @plutopianation If you don't mind following, it shouldn't be a problem!

  • lovely end xp

  • cute

  • jajajaja, this guy dance like we the latinamerican people dance in any disco, some tropical dance like merengue, but the latins dance so cool that this guy, jajajaja

  • jajajaja, this guy dance like we the latinamerican people dance in any disco, some tropical dance like merengue, but the latins dance so cool that this guy, jajajaja

  • All right.............now one more time but a little slower.

  • Good speed for showing the moves. Style looks clunky and uncertain.

  • @mcbelli That's because it lacks fluidity. When it's done at proper speed, it's very smooth and precise.

  • @Lakerbballfan Actually, these dancers are clearly not very advanced themselves. The clunkiness is also a result of doing single step east coast swing instead of triple step.

  • @lindyhop411 Oh I was merely describing the fluidity of the movements, though the dancers don't seem to be too bad to me. There was a guy who was a guest of a girl in my dance club who had worse than 2 left feet. Made me look like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. The triple step was discussed in another class I took at my church which seemed more fluid. The single step was described in the dance club as being used when the music was faster and the dancers had to reduce the number of steps.

  • @Lakerbballfan I hear that all the time, but it's not true. The triple step actually fits better with swing music because it's the same rhythm being played on the high hat by the drummer. The only thing that limits how fast one can do triple steps is the ability of the dancer. Look up "Boogie Woogie", which is a swing dance entirely based on doing triple steps at fast tempos. :-)

  • @lindyhop411 I can see where the high hat rhythm fits well because of the beat of Big Band Jazz. Back in the day the dance class used the triple step and the dance club used the single step. Interesting dynamic. I could do the triple step at that time more easily, but nowadays I'd be relegated to using the single step. Much easier on my hips! I was also a very casual dancer. More recreational. I played "Boogie Woogie" exercises on the guitar in the mid 70s, so I'm familiar with it and it's great

  • most girls wont be able to read your mind and follow what your going for when dancing. So keep it simple and occasionally whip out a move like the pretzel or something impressive to make it fun for them but not too tiring. Doing all that elbow turn crap will just confuse your date. They get the simple swings and anything you can lead them into but dont expect them to do much on their own. Remember, the guy leads so the girls naturally expect to follow

  • @FLaSHBaCK353 The pretzel is not a swing move. Sorry.

  • Great!, now do the Lambada from Brazil.

  • this is rock n roll no swing

  • @kaymark1313 Where do you think rock n' roll dancing came from? It's just East Coast Swing.

  • im here because we are doing this in gym class tomorrow and i want to see what im getting myself into!

  • I hope I can understand how to swing dance o.o

A.My mom is draging me to swing dance.Joyous.

    B. I don't want my feet crushed. So I'm hoping this video teaches me the correct way to swing dance. Also my feet bruises easily.XD

  • I just wanna be better at swing!

  • @RelytDraw51 Learn Lindy Hop. :-)

  • This is an expert? Whaha

  • The applications are infinite

  • I already know how to swing dance and i dont anounce what im doing to my girl, its just unethical

  • @AnointedShield This video is ok, but it's best to learn how to dance with a real teacher. Try googling "Lindy Hop" and your city/state and search out some dancing near you.

  • this is how you dance at a funeral

  • I know how to do this, but I look boring doing it, idk why

  • @fsjal117 Take up Lindy Hop and you won't look boring any more. :-)

  • Taking my girl to a swing show tomorrow. She's gonna love it.

  • I can't dance...At all..I'm out of town stuck in a hotel with my family...And i need to learn how to dance!!!!! I've got a dance to go to in March! March 4th! and i can't dance!!! So i have been loooking at lots of videos and all so i can learn! I'm going with my bf and i don't wanna look like A fool so if anyone can help it be greatly appreciated!

  • @thebrat95203 just try to get the basic steps, dont worry much about turning or a choreography, watch videos likes this but remember only the basic steps, then learn one or two turns. and go from there. the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the moment dont try to dance like a pro, just basics steps and enjoy the moment...good luck :)

  • @thebrat95203 The best advice I can give you is to go to group lessons. Find a place that teaches Lindy Hop, and go and learn. A lot of places do a free lesson before social dancing, and you will learn a lot faster than with a video. Don't be embarrassed at not knowing how to dance. As a teacher, it's worse for someone to assume they know something and be completely wrong. They are normally slower learners because they have to unlearn what they thought they knew.

  • Way to show us HOW to the connect the moves.

In other words, you didn't show us HOW to do anything!

  • @Norogoth The "jamcellar" channel has a lot more/better videos you can watch. The Jam Cellar is a swing venue in Washington DC and they upload all of their lesson recaps. So there's literally hundreds of videos to watch!

  • 144 dislikes, duh what gives? this is an awesome dance, remember Dick Clark and American Bandstand? Common guys wake up, this is fun!!!!

  • @doowopshopgal It doesn't hold a candle to Lindy Hop.

  • wat about the boogie walks?

  • @1MikeLaz I wouldn't expect them to know how to do that when they can't even triple step.

  • turns the chicas on. who agrees with me?

  • I'm watching it cause we need it for school... to get grades...

  • @kimerald01 yeah been there

  • we are learning this in school

  • @xXMiseryBusinessXx9 Awesome! When you're ready, I hope you'll move on to learning Lindy Hop! Have you heard of it?

  • @lindyhop411 i've heard of it sometime when my grandma and i are watching old movies we see them dance it

  • this is SHIT!!

  • at coachbird1: I had a half dozen lessons or so, know about 3/4 of the movies in this combo, and met a really neat lady at a dance this week. so it's worth the effort.

  • i just swing

  • gringos culiaos no saben bailar ehehe weones tiesos

  • @Touristcl ver algunos videos de "Lindy Hop" y verá lo que bailar swing real parece.

  • Bravo!

  • superb,now i know where i was going wrong,much appreciated Guys,superb.

  • I have to learn this by saturday. Yes!

  • NO problem..you're welcome

  • reminds me of jive? or am i wrong?

  • @DuSilbenaDatiae Jive is a different type of dance

THis looks like a slowed down Jitterbug

  • @Freyja1133 ah okay, thanks

  • @Freyja1133 There's no one dance called "jitterbug". This is single step east coast swing.

  • @DuSilbenaDatiae Jive is a variation of East Coast Swing. When the dance traveled to the UK during World War II, a variation developed there called "Skip Jive". This dance spread to Europe and eventually became just "Jive", which is why the dance is considered a "latin" dance.

  • Haha I'm actually a girl tryin' to impress a guy. The things we do for love.

  • @hkvega don't learn this to impress a guy. As long as you have fun doing it, is what counts.. But learning the basics is good to know for everyone :PP

  • @hkvega Same, same. I completely agree. XD

  • and then she pucks

  • wow i just need a partner! anyone up for it? ;)

  • i wish my girl would dance with me :( rockabilly for life!

  • @killuminati63 You should look up Lindy Hop. :-)

  • i remember watching these videos when i was first starting 2 years ago. keep at it peeps, it gets better.

  • he man!!!!! i got the poowerrrrrrrrrr

  • speed it up and youll be dancing Salsa!! :P

  • @kmoskaos No. Completely different rhythms. Besides, there's already a swing dance for fast swing music. It's called "Balboa".

  • Comment removed

  • very helpful! thank you!

  • hehe, my class did this! Nex art class is the end of Swing. :( So fun though!

    I love this dance!

  • @SourCandy121 You should check out videos of "Lindy Hop". :-)

  • If a guy swing danced with me, my heart just might melt for him.

  • @Winklepinklepuff Happened to me last year, too bad his didn't melt for me :(

  • I have a bad right leg from a horrific aircraft accident. I don't think I can dance like that. Although it'd be quite fun.

  • i must be missing something here?not one lindy or charlestone, swing?looks like basic rocknroll steps and moves...

  • @terrencehowes7 It's single step East Coast Swing. It's not a very good instructional video, but it's better than the videos of people who don't know anything about swing teaching the pretzel (a salsa move) and aerials and calling it swing.

  • very good video and dancers. And you can learn a lot from it!

  • I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE THOSE DANCE VIDIOS WHEN I WAS YOUNG...WOULD HAVE MORE HAPPINES...

  • How many guys are here learning how to dance to impress a girl? I am

  • @coachbird1 wow i didnt know it was such a common phenomenon!@

  • @coachbird1 she'll appreciate it, i know i would...

  • @coachbird1 I just taught Bruce David Thorpe how to dance a basic lindy step. He was thrilled. He got a tad excited. Men love to dance and leady ladies in dance.

  • @coachbird1 me too :D

  • @coachbird1 dude, all of us.

  • @coachbird1 lawl how cute ^^

  • @coachbird1 yeah she will love it. i know that i would dance with someone who took the time to learn

  • @coachbird1 im learning cuz i love to dance and my boyfriend promised i could teach him :) by already knowing she will be impressed :)

  • @coachbird1 lol, i am xD hope you learned how...trying to find one of their fancy moves that i learned a long time ago (the dance partner at the time really liked it)

  • @coachbird1 girls dont want to be impressed, they want to be seduced

  • @coachbird1 im pretty sure u just answered every single guy on this page! y else would we learn it

  • @coachbird1 I'm a girl I can tell you that it works. :D

  • @coachbird1

    im your like 200 xd

  • @coachbird1 No shit we all are -_-

  • @coachbird1 tell it to my boyfriend, I beg him to learn

  • @coachbird1

HAHAHA, nah but it is a nice bonus

  • @coachbird1 Haha I actually have a Military Ball today, and I want to be able to dance with my date! Go us!

  • @Jesuskrieger Ha! Go man, go! My military ball was in November, but all I knew how to do was waltz. I'm lucky my girl can't dance to save her life either!

  • you know if you think about it ...common swing is the american version of latin common suelto cumbia dancing

  • Thank you for taking the time to do this for us.

  • 0:05

  • Wow, people are jerks on here. This was a good video, thank you!

  • @boneheadc

    It's called AdBlock jackass

  • This looks so easy when someone else is doing it, but I'm still trying to get the rock-step down

  • @ZillaRocks Just remember it's just a step step, just like walking or marching. The other two steps are actually harder, because they are two counts each (slow, slow).

  • Could they dance any gayer?

  • @thebeardedjohn I'm sure the likes of your grandparents (or possibly great grandparents) really appreciate your snide remark.

  • @TheBunnyist I do this dance, but I have a sense of rhythm and fluency.

  • this is great!!

  • thanks for share this video ^_^!

  • um do you know if swing dancing came from the 50's ?

  • @dancer8991 30's.

  • @dancer8991 Actually, it came from the 1940's - the WWII vets and their dates swing danced to Glenn Miller and other bands from that era.

  • yeaa ☺

  • I found you video though a search for a dance video. I wanna give out some comments and spread the love.

    Thanks

  • I still like it...thank you,,,

  • This is great, thanks for showing me, cause i never knew how

  • Haha they're so good. I was at a swing dance gala event with a real nice ole jazzy band last night, and I danced like a bungling tyro with lovely maidens. But was good for the first night :) Time for some youtube education

  • @MetrazolElectricity Make sure you look up Lindy Hop!

  • This a great little starter lesson - my wedding is in a week and I want to do a little rock and roll oldies song with my dad.

    Thanks!!

  • @thesiouxz1 I wouldn't dance like that if I where you, I have seen first night beginers dance better than that, there is loads of nice and well shown jive moves on this site, just put in modern jive, or better still put in Kav Kavanagh, he can dance rock-n-roll, one of the best, enjoy your wedding.

  • @112onlyme Yeah I tend to agree as it seems very choppy, but I will only assume that is intentional to show beginning dancers each individual step in progressing the moves. It doesn't exactly follow the music or flow smoothly, but again, I don't think that's the intent.

  • @sven00100 There's much better instructional videos for East Coast Swing.

  • @112onlyme Unfortunately, modern jive is not something most people wanting to learn swing will find in the US. Because modern jive is danced to modern music, there's no need for it in the US because more people dance West Coast Swing to modern music. If you wanted to dance to traditional swing and jazz music, then Lindy Hop would be the way to go.

  • Your video is useless no one can see the steps with all those words you have taking over the screen jackass

  • @skinheadc you need to turn off closed captions, jackass.

  • @skinheadc you do realize that the people who make these videos never read the comments right

  • @skinheadc How about you l2youtube and click the CC icon to turn the captions off. Now who's the jackass?

  • so stupid, why would you write across the whole screen?!
