@ec11223: Look, if the entire obstacle course was swinging and climbing, I think the chimp would win. There's two problems, the course is linear in nature and requires the person (or chimp) to run from one obstacle to another. Man will always win that course on that alone. Especially the last part: a sprint to the finish? We evolved to run, chimps are not distance movers. The other problem with this course is that the Chimp just does give a flyin' f. No motivation to win.
We did not evolve to run. We evolved to walk VERY long distances, literally following animals until they died from exhaustion. A short 20m sprint is the exact opposite of what we're supposed to be able to do.
And of course the chimp doesn't give a shit, he's monkey, he can't even begin to understand it, but he's been trained to go through the obstacle course as fast as possible. His reward isn't glory for beating the competitor, it's a banana.

It's not even 50/50 because a lot of the course requires running like you mentioned along with the ultimate factor of the chimp not having motivation to have hustle. I hate these American programs that are always comparing themselves to other thing like Ultimate Warrior. Navy Seal vs Spetsnaz, Marine vs S.A.S., US Army vs Nazi's the end result is always the same.

I've seen video footage of chimps moving MUCH faster when attacking or being attacked.

@ec11223: Look, if the entire obstacle course was swinging and climbing, I think the chimp would win. There's two problems, the course is linear in nature and requires the person (or chimp) to run from one obstacle to another. Man will always win that course on that alone. Especially the last part: a sprint to the finish? We evolved to run, chimps are not distance movers. The other problem with this course is that the Chimp just does give a flyin' f. No motivation to win.

We did not evolve to run. We evolved to walk VERY long distances, literally following animals until they died from exhaustion. A short 20m sprint is the exact opposite of what we're supposed to be able to do.
And of course the chimp doesn't give a shit, he's monkey, he can't even begin to understand it, but he's been trained to go through the obstacle course as fast as possible. His reward isn't glory for beating the competitor, it's a banana.
Either way, humans are superior.

@JDickson81 Exactly you hit the nail on the head with pin point precision. This is a human obstacle course not a chimp one. It's not even 50/50 because a lot of the course requires running like you mentioned along with the ultimate factor of the chimp not having motivation to have hustle. I hate these American programs that are always comparing themselves to other thing like Ultimate Warrior. Navy Seal vs Spetsnaz, Marine vs S.A.S., US Army vs Nazi's the end result is always the same.
