I also saw this a few years ago and have had trouble seeing it again since. The man is a beautiful soul w/ simple directives and no sense of altruism, yet my heart breaks for him many times throughout this doc. His story is really something incredible to see.
I had the chance to see this movie some years ago, in NY, at the HBO sites. The film director was there, Alice Elliott. Also Larry Selman was there. He is a very, very nice fellow. The movie is great, as the story of this man is told with insight and with decency. The movie is also a simple and touching story about his neighbors - a great example of what a community of new yorkers means actually: it's amazing how responsible and understanding they are.
