  • this makes me want to play Stranglehold now

  • @amerrittification Yeah... And Max Payne 1-2. Isn't the game (Stranglehold) a sequel to this movie, by the way? Same director and actor with the same character name. I think the movie is also included on the PS3 -version as an extra.

  • Man, Tequila's partner is retarded

  • Chow Yun Fat doesn't go gangsta on anyone in this. All the gangsta's in this are lying in pools of their own blood because he went Supercop on their asses.

  • Never run out of bullets.

  • I guess the forgot to show the scene where they activate the infinite ammo Cheat. Or tequila never has to reload because Chow Yun Fat is godlike.

  • too bad the avian flu wiped out the birdcage teahouse industry...

  • Those Tokarev pistols never reloaded once.

  • Reloading is for babies.

  • Manliness exploded.

  • At 4:45, what the hell explodes? A propane tank? A can of sesame oil? The methane from Bowie Lam's corpse? What?

  • @etomlins4 a propane tank in the kitchen

  • This is what happens when you don't plan the police operations carefully (and when you have unlimited ammo).

  • The opening and the hallway charge that's one continued take in the hospital is two of my favorite scenes in Hard Boiled. When I was new to HK films, I had to get used to the main hero and villian taking multiple gunshots and keep going to fight. LIke at the end of The Killer. Chow Yun Phat and the cop guy takes like ten bullets each in that final shootout at the church. lol. At the time, I was used to American movies (one bullets slows you down, anything over three and you're a goner).

  • My favorite part about this scene, is that Chow Yun Fat's boss gets pissed at him for killing one guy, when his antics caused probably a couple dozen innocent people in the teahouse to get senselessly gunned down by Chow Yun Fat and the gangsters. Oh well.

  • Evidently no on in Hong Kong ever has to reload :p.

  • what film was this and what year was it made?

  • @concubinage The film is "Hard Boiled" and I think the year was made in 1992 I'm not sure.

  • That last sound wasn't a gunshot, watch it, he never pulls the trigger and a casing never ejects. he spit the toothpick so hard, it tore his skull apart, and that was the sound that there was.

  • I think I had some weapons in Borderlands that regenerated ammo as fast as this!

Plus...if they ever make a live-action version of the anime 'Black Lagoon', Chow Yun-Fat is the only one I'd really consider for the role of Mr. Chang.

  • The sound of the gunshots is like audio porn.

  • For Chow Yun Fat the rule is: one gun = superman, two guns = god

  • @RamBam3000 he's so awesome! :D

  • I can't believe how good is this scene filmed. If you notice, Chow Yun-Fat never reloades (this is a mainstay of many John Woo movies, it adds an invincibility to the main character), but it's still fun to watch.

If I'm right, the same approach was in one of the Hitman scenes, only worse.

  • I've always wanted to be involved in a shootout in Hong Kong.

  • In this part of the world, only loser's reload!

  • That bad guy should have waited until he could see the white of Chow Yun-fat's ENTIRE BODY.

  • Classic action scene... worst police operation ever lol: 'Here's the plan guys, we'll lob some kettles and teapots at them so they have time to get their guns out.'

  • anybody here played stranglehold. it's based off of this. It's an awesome game.

  • @Lightning5182

Actually its not based of it its a new part of the story :)

  • Amazing guns they make in Hong Kong. All those bullets they hold...

  • John Woo Is Awesome :)

  • Anyone else know what Chow Yun Fat mixes his tequila with? At the beginning of the movie he pours tequila the something else from a can. What is that, can anybody tell me?

  • 2:58 EPIC WIN

  • Chow is so awesome, his gun never runs out of bullets! If the guy with the machine gun turns out to be an undercover cop, why does he start shooting at everyone, including the cops, who yelled "we're cops" ? Hong Kong flicks are like that, but they kick ass anyway.

  • very mazing interesting thrilling gun violencescene indeed LEGEND CHOWYAN FAT IS AWESOME BEST ACTION MOVIE ACTOR CHILL

  • This scene was awesome

  • @howiescream

What the fuck did you say?

  • Bullets, concrete, noise, aload of Chinese yankey pankey language. Hell Yea

  • Guess they didn't like her coffee, one way to ask for a refund, by god

  • I watched this movie and was extremely dissapointed to find out that it was'nt about the best way to serve up a well-cooked egg.

  • John Woo needs to do a crossover movie with Tequila and John Preston from Equilibrium

  • Inf Ammo Cheat

    Disabled

    Enabled <---

    GO!

  • "Give a man a gun and he thinks he's superman...

...give him two and he thinks he's God!"

  • 2:58 EPIC

  • Why do the bad guys running away waste their unlimited bullets on the civilians?

  • @TPBXDRicky420 because they were in his way

  • start playing The Qemists - Stompbox (Spor Remix) at 0:42 of this video and it become even more badass and I recommend to watch this epic combination while stoned...

  • @trickorweed that was a fucking awesome idea thanks

  • 4:52 he is a ghost!

  • At 4:56, the bullet didn't kill him, it was the toothpick he spat on him!

  • the only shootouts that are better, are the ones in the same movie! Magnificent!

  • Tea houses ain't no joke. Even something as normal as a birdcage is probably filled with a couple shitty Tokarev's.lol

  • Great scene - still remember the first time I saw this.

How many bullets did micro Uzi guy take?!?! The dude is bulletproof!

  • I can't tell who's good or bad, they all have unlimited ammo!

  • Can you imagine Tequila playing Bulletstorm, his points would go through the roof

  • *Cough* Stranglehold first level *Cough*. I gotta fucking watch this, i fucking loved fucking Stranglehold. It was so fucking Tequila filled, epic and awesome. Fuck.

  • @MrPrototypz Agree with you, i playing Stranglehold and i loved it. I reading that this game is sequel of Hard boiled, i decided to watch this movie AND I STILL LOVED IT~!

  • haha he still had a toothpick in his mouth in the end..

  • Infinite ammo.

  • A budget of 4.5m. every penny of it spent on bullets.

  • 2:54 Still the coolest thing I have ever seen in any action movie

  • Bottomless mags are so awesome!!

  • @chrysanthos66 It's the Wyndham Teahouse, a famous Hong Kong restaurant where people are expected to arrive with their pet birds. Apparently.

  • Budget breakdowns: Bad Boys II 130 million Revenge of the Fallen $200 million Con Air 75 million Fast and Furious 4 85 million X-Men 4 150 million 2012 200 million The Expendables 80 million The A-Team 110 million Iron Man 2 200 million Rise of Cobra 175 million Hard Boiled 4.5 million What is wrong with this picture?
  • @hanshotfirst1138 Yeah but gotta keep in mind that John Woo literally had one shot per scene. If anything would've gone, the budget would've exploded or the film wouldn't have been made the way we see it now. This goes to show that John Woo was and still is a great director because he didn't blow the budget for this extravaganza.

  • @hanshotfirst1138

it's not right if you compare the budget for a movie made in 1992 to those made recently. I'm pretty sure Hard Boiled will cost about 50 - 75 millions if it's made now. Even Red Cliff 2, John Woo's 2009's movie, cost 80 millions to make. One movie that will surprise anyone will be The Raid (2011), which cost only less than 1 million. Critics already hailed it on the same par as Hard Boiled and Die Hard.

  • @ranapiriegaea I don't think it'd cost anywhere near that much. $5 millon for a Hong Kong film, even in the cinema's heyday, was pretty high, so even adjusted for some inflation, I'd be surprised if it's more than 5 or 6 million at most, plus those other movies in turn would have to be adjusted as well. I'd love to see The Raid if it comes to DVD. Netflix doesn't have it as yet.

  • @hanshotfirst1138 The more kickass movies have lower budgets? :P

  • The killer who empty his machinegun is a Japanese actor,Jun Kunimura!

    It doesn't looks unnatural.

  • 2:40 The Naked Gun

  • best part of this scene is 3:00-3:10

  • I still think there should have been a slo-mo of both clips dropping on the floor when he reached down but hey...Tequila doesn't seem too big on reloading...

  • Reminds me of stranglehold first level.....

  • 1 person has to reload his weapon

  • I don't care what anyone says. Chuck Norris, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Campbell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, whatever, all some of the most badass men alive...

Chow Yun-fat could still kill all of them without batting an eyelid!!!

  • It would be awsome to be an extra in one of these movies.

  • John Woo is the best for gunfights scenes !!

  • Whats the ratio of good guy vs. bad guy casualty in this scene anyway??? For every one thug shot, theres 3 - 5 innocent people/police officers...

  • When I asked a friend how the breakup with his girlfriend was, he showed me this.

  • @lavastorz

    It ended in bloodshed? Daaamn...

  • If I have a child, I will make sure this is the first thing they see.

  • At :33 seconds, those two hidden pistols are Tokarevs - very nice Eastern European officer's pistol of which Chinese versions were made. They were usually chambered in 7.62x25, a bottlenecked pistol round with a lot of punch.

The mags are single-stack, only holding eight rounds each - someone must have been passing Tequila a lot of magazines during the teahouse massacre!

  • slow mo, multi-camera bullet-fest mayhem, John Woo at his best!!!!

  • This, along with Die Hard, is the greatest action movie ever made

  • Woooooooooaaaaaaaaahh...more please!

  • Best action movie of all time.

  • 4:45 - 5:02 is quite possibly the most awesome climax to a gunfight ever.

  • @MIsguidedarCHAngEL The coolest thing is that in Asia, the color white is associated with death. Tequila looking like that was like the Grim Reaper coming for that guy. :P

  • brilliant action flic, no one else than John Woo has ever produced such awesome shoot-outs

  • Fuck Chuck Norris. Chow Yun-fat brought a toothpick to a teahouse shootout. And won.

  • @cobhatebreeder Makes him a badass :)

  • Best Action scene hands-down.

  • Stranglehold FTW!!!!!!

  • 1) Claim to never waste a bullet.

    2) Empty 10 rounds from an 8-round magazine into a guy's chest.

    3) ?????

    4) PROFIT!

  • Brilliant action scene. The part on the stairs is classic

  • Giving Chow Yun Fat a pair of handguns is like putting cheats on.

  • so badass.

  • How many fucking rounds are in that Mini Uzi's mag?

    lol

  • @the1337priest Wrong, it's a Micro Uzi

  • @Lufttygger306

You sure? It's hard to tell since he keeps jerking it and moving from area to area.

  • @the1337priest There's this website called IMFDb (not imdb)

  • @Lufttygger306 mini mac 10 with a grip

  • @the1337priest He must have the extended mag attachment, plus rapid fire lol.

  • I saw this shootout and I was a John Woo fan for life!

Chow Yun-Fat/Tequila is the coolest most badass person on the planet!!!

Also, at 4:56, the bullet didn't kill him, it was the toothpick he spat on him >:-)

  • They fucking destroyed this teahouse. Good thing it was getting demolished anyway.

  • Nobody does gunfights better than John Woo. Period.

  • greatest action movie of all time

  • (Spits out toothpick)

    (Shoots motherfucker in the face)

  • thats what happend when you cheat IRL

  • I didn't know explosive rounds was so common...

  • I got to see more of John Woo's eariler films. If they're all as good as this, then it'll be several bucks each well spent. :)

  • Someone got their ass kicked by Chow Yun Fat.

  • 1:46 to 1:58 hes reloading

  • @xxRifleMastaxx Chow Yun Fat creates and warps bullets into his gun. 'Reload' is not a word in his vocab.

  • wow chow yun-fat ass

  • Not even one reload is shown.

  • john woo is such a sick director from the killer, hard boiled, hard target, face off so why did he go off and direct paycheck that movie was such a let down. oh well his glory days were before hollywood.

  • @itsnotbob15 I think it was after this movie that he sold out. Hell, I don't think Van Damme could've saved Hard Target...

  • What I love about this film is that it has unrealistic action, but it's still sloppy, brutal, and believable in how the characters act.

  • John Woo is the best action movie director ever!!

  • join my heroic bloodshed website today it is the movie version of facebook join today! cult-gibbotta.webs.com

  • how can chow keep that one tooth pick in his mouth throughout this whole thing

  • THey HAVE to get Chow Yung Fat in the Expendables sequel if they ever think of making one!

  • @netzero26 Yeah, Stallone already said he's on it and wants Bruce Willis as the villain. But IMO, I thought the film sucked. :/ The action was TOO Hollywood. Sure, so is Hard Boiled, but HB has style; the action in Expendables was just dumb and ridiculous. Hopefully Chow Yun can teach those guys something in a sequel.

  • Its a damned shame that scenes arent shot like this anymore, with squibbs popping inches from the actors and weapons being fired at point blank range all tied in continues no-cut shots all while the buildings they are in are being mutilated by bullet hole squibb explosions. Nothing was ever the same after Brandon Lee died while filing the Crow. The insurance comapnies and productions companies wont let shootouts be filmed like this anymore because of his death.

  • I swear you guys, Chow Yun-Fat is the GOD OF AKIMBO!!! lol

  • In Hard Boiled, ammo reloads you!

  • @haon8 LOL true, true.

  • infinent ammo ftw

  • The shootout itself is nothing short of insane - in a great way.

  • Man it's insane how many innocents get killed in this movie, any western movie would make it all emotional and symbolic if even one innocent person was killed but this movie just shows it as being simply brutal and unfair.

  • @RiverSiege

there are too much ppl in HK~~~that's why~

  • lol @ 3:00, he's sliding down the stairs and shooting at everyone! Priceless!!!

  • Chow Yun-Fat carries himself so gracefully through scenes like this. No one beats his dual-pistol style.

  • sv_cheats 1

  • why they have birds in every table?

  • By the way

    4:16 ARH

  • holy shit more people died in this one scene than in all of the lotr movies

  • hahahahahahahahahahahhahhahhah SICK!!!

  • this movie gave birth to Freddiew

  • I can't believe this movie have a budget of $4,500,000.

I looks like it have a budget of $19,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

  • @Lufttygger306

  • @aliks18

Made in Hong Kong actually, while it was still part of the British Empire.

  • @Lufttygger306 no thats how many round were shot in this movie

  • I have lots of vintage CYF movies. He is the absolute best action hero of all time. No one else even comes close -- not Stallone, Willis, Swartzenegger - nobody!! Chow Yun Fat is the greatest!!

  • CHOW YUN FAT CAN KILL YOU WITH A FUCKING TEAPOT.....BEATCH

  • this is one of the most gangsta movies ever made. it still is.

  • shit, this was the best shoot-out I've ever damn seen.. awesome

  • did the one bird fly out when Tequila stomped on the bottom of the cage

  • I got my ass kicked watching this movie

  • Hardboiled was the first hong kong film i saw, and the tea house shoot out was the first gun fight in the movie. First thought.....WTF AWESOME. Totally took gun fights to a whole new level. After that i was hooked and bought everything by John Woo and then other HK films from the trailers. Really opened my eyes to foreign films.

  • 4:53 You can see the look of terror which says "Holy crap, I fucked up bad" followed by a short prayer and soiling his pants.

  • 4:55. The one guy who pressed dislike.

  • Shoot-outs in American films are nothing compared to the ones in John Woo's films! Cool ending - KILL that miserable bastard!
