you are correct...it was actually june of 1962, not '64 that the escape was attempted. however, west did not change his mind too late. rather, he was not able to open the ventilator grill in his cell in time. that is what the lyrics "when the three of us are missing, one is missing out, he gave little time to a job that needed more" are in reference to.

also, this is not a dumb song. capital lights is a good band.

Good day boys and girls. my dads an Alcatraz Historian and showed me one day the stuff they left on the roof. it was so cool. in my opion they made it not to angel island but near the Golden Gate if u watch the mythbusters ep ull see y. also if they were smart enough to escape and make those ralfs and all that other stuff it would be command knowledge that they were smart enough to not be caught

I use to think they made it out of Alcatraz alive and got new identities. After seeing the movie again last night,what if the gaurds and warden knew they were going to escape? What if they let them get outside but then were waiting for them ,captured and killed them and then got rid of their bodies and left behind some parts of the raft in the bay to make it look like they drowned or escaped?

Great story put to Really good music. Even though, after their escape local Authorities conduduted one of the greatest man hunts to that date. Mobilized 100 army as well. Plus a massive FBI effort. The raft was constructed from approx. 50 rain coats... right... here is what the authorities don't emphasize or just don't want to discuss... they never found the raft/rain coats.. bodies may sink or..???... but rain coats.. come on.... one or all made it ashore...

the anglins escaped. there relatives recieved postcards from them in south america a couple years after the escape and they found a bag of family photos of the aglin bros in the water. theres no proof of morris makin it out alive except 2 fishermen spotted a body near a dock during the escape and they said it looked like morris

Hey guys! This is just something that I came up with but it might be right.

I think that they went with the water to the golden bridge where someone on the inside of Alcatraz organized a boat to take the supplies they had with the boat to drop the sullpies off at the "Anglin Island" or what it's called. I think that the boat dropped one supplie there and then another after any minutes and then he went more east and dropped the other supplies and so on.
