  • Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo Desde tierras aztecas Rock n Roll

  • this song was #1 on my birthday O.o

  • It was heard after a long time.

    I am glad.

  • johnny rick and edgar almost everyone in the 80s cut there chops off them

  • neither is dan hartman we lost him do as well as randy jo hobbs

  • Chuck Ruff is on drums. Jerry Weems is on 2nd. guitar. Sadly, they are no longer with us.

  • Sloopy brought me here. But I knew where I was going.

  • yea the drummer looks wierd but he can sure as hell play those drums

  • I'll bet the women were jealous of his hair.

  • I always wondered who this great drummer is.....it's Bobby Caldwell, yes the soul singer of the 70s and 80s, whose big hit was "What You Won't Do For Love".

  • @ranran19701 Nope...it's a different Bobby Caldwell...i know them both...both from FLA, as I am...

  • DAZED AND CONFUSED.....

  • Yeah brings back memories of going out to the Foxy Lady nigh club and drinking pitchers of beer and dancing when I was a teenager!

  • All hail Harrisburg Pa.'s own "Dan Hartman" on bass...a "true" legend!

  • FUUUCCCKKK i meant drummer haha

  • umm... what was the guitarist smokiing? xD

  • Oi music thats of the hearts Always been being played n created yo

  • The 60's and 70's were the decades that music was real

  • alguien tiene un preset parecido al de rick derringer para guitar rig????

  • Can hear where Aerosmith got some riffs.

  • @solarwave It's all about influence.

  • RIP CHUCK RUFF!!!!!!

  • Saw him in Old Orchard

  • This is like -The real McCoy '70's!

  • remember when the DJs would play this on the radio and would turn the mic on during the song and say KEEP ON ROCKIN' and then the song would say, SOMEONE SAY KEEP ON ROCKIN'? Classic

  • the drummer looks like Jim Carery

  • god that gibson just doesn't let up

  • Mr. Bobby Caldwell on drums ?

  • Damn...Rick looks all of 12 years old......but kickin' ass....

  • Rock music replaced Do Wop & the Big Band era & all the rest of the slick backed crooners, rock was 'dangerous' in that you might make a mistake but kept playing anyway. There weren't many suit & ties in rock of the 70's.

  • Dan Hartman on bass!!!!!

  • From the days when the musicians could play and get credit for songwriting and singing.

Now, it's all about the look. Feh.

  • do you mean chuck norris on drums , i dont think so , eric clapton is chuck norris

  • every one of these guys looks like Christopher Robin as a teenager

  • Chuck on the drums!!

  • My first R & R hero, I saw The Edgar Winter Group in sold out Madison Square Garden in '74 (Shock Treatment). Dan Hartman had the bass guitar suit...I've also seen Edgar in a half sold out ballroom in Lake Tahoe...

  • Who cares if he missed a note. Every musician makes mistakes, it's all a part of being human...

  • @SadiSays Exactly...unless you've played and performed,you have no clue.

  • no blue note, just lower e string out of pitch

  • I'm new to 70s performance art. Why is Rick wearing his pajamas? Why does Rick look like he suffers from Down Syndrome?

  • @GreatPotentialSitcom The band was dressed in the hippest fashion of the day. That just happened to look like pajamas. In order to appreciate the performance, I suggest you look at some Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie). Much of the look had to do with "gender bending." It was also fashionable for performers to look "bored" while performing.

  • Edgar, Johnny and Rick all ROCK!!!!

  • The bass player is the fabulous Dan Hartman who had a fabulous solo shot in the '80s, but died as a very young man in 1994.

  • 16 people think Rick looks like Suzi Quattro.

  • also the bass player had a small solo career too-I cant believe how time flies

    I am 51 now

  • believe the seveties were great-I was there! I saw this on t.v. when young and I loved rick derringer's solo stuff!

  • They are dumbing down the kids today with this mindless bullshit they call music. The kids aren't even aware they are being dumbed down. The lyrics have no message or ideas. That is the way the ruling class want it.

  • @blabblab1212 I'm sorry but don't diss ozzy just because your pussy ears couldn't handle the volume please.

  • I also saw Black Sabbath in Hershey, Pa in 73. The music was so fucking loud that it caused some hearing damage. No need for that shit. Fuck Ozzy Osbourne.

  • The next year in Harrisburg I saw Aerosmith, Queen, Mott the Hoople and another band which I think was Loudface. It was the best concert I ever went to. Again $5.00 No bullshit. No commercialism. Just a bunch of young people (both artists and audience) exploring new music together. Glad I was able to be a part of it.

  • Saw Rick Derringer with Edgar Winter in Harrisburg, Pa in 1973. They did this song and it kicked assssssssssssss!!!! The concert cost $5.00 Seriously!!

  • saw these guys live when Shock Treatment came out. with Fleetwood Mac. Barely remember Fleetwood, never forget these guys!

  • Oh, 70's. Never been there. Need a time machine.

  • Rick and Montrose together

  • Eee haa Super rock musuc ,Hoochie Hoochie man"

  • the drummer looks like jim carey

  • I saw Rick Derringer at the Raincross Square, Riverside, CA ca. '76 or '77.. What I remember of it, they were ver good. But not nearly as good as Johnny Winter at the fabulous Swing Auditorium in Berdoo. Johnny wore a black coat and top hat. The stage lights illuminated only his white hands, face and hair...quite an effect, to say the least!

  • Brings me back when to when ROCK WAS ROCK WITH NO AGENDA

  • @go2mikerenzi Hrm? Rock has always had an agenda. Rick Derringer, with a political one, included.

  • @Ant1Live who cares. why do people always bash the guys with top comments do you think they really care what you have to say?

  • oh my god, the talent in this band....killer

  • Does anyone else think that this is lipsynched? Sounds a lot like Johnny W. I refer any doubters to I'm sure I'm wrong.

look up this by Johnny Winter

  • @sjdanthem yah, i remember the version by johnny winter. and i saw rick and pat travers in concert cerca 76 in san bernardino, and edger winter at the denver collisium, in 73 and it was a good time to be had by all! but somebody else was playing at that sanbernardino concert and i cant remember if it was montrose or johnny winter, it must be because of the drugs i was on.

  • Drummer looks like 'Riff Raff' from Rocky Horror.

  • @SuperPlectrist I finally found that article. I always thought Chuck was severely under-rated as a drummer.

  • @SuperPlectrist Thanks. I am impressed!

  • I like this version. Good job Rick Derringer. When I saw his appearance as a younger person in this video, I kind of laughed with amusement, he sort of looks like Rhandy Roads with the hair and face if you know Rhandys past photos.

  • you should hear his live album,Derringer Live, very hot rock and roll!!

  • Great song.

  • WOW!!! rock at its best.Heavy electrical high energy rock....

  • ayeeeeeyyy...

  • WTF is Rick wearing? Pajamas?!

  • @SkidRowJosephine He's wearing awesome

  • @SkidRowJosephine yeah after this number he goes to bed and does some serious snuggling with johnny.

  • @SkidRowJosephine why not?

  • Hippety Hop Hootsie Koo ,and definitely no way to sling a Les Paul.

    Not the real McCoy either.

  • I heard them play back in the day LIVE! (1974) I was close enuff to the sound stage to hear Rick back stage YELL between encores "DAMMIT! Always same shit as yesterday! Ain' nuthin' but yesterdays!" I was taken that he had a HEAVY NYC(?) accent.

  • 0:58 seconds is the best

  • LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN.......

Everyone keeps messaging me about dives, octaves, right strings, and even damn blue notes!

Its rediculous! He missed the note. Period. So (with respect) Rick chose this one damn time to hit that off note and not do it at any other time in the song?

Dont think so. Jesus, he's not Jimi fucking Hendrix guys!

  • @geostillo78

Rick is pretty hot guitarist. Jimi made mistakes, too. ; )

  • Rick Derringer seems to be a competant guitarist...Dan O'Nealon

  • look at them baggy eyes, I wonder how many doobs he smoked before this one lol.

  • Nice Spandex Rick !!!

  • @Rouisse21 And nice blowdry hair, don't forget this very important feature.

  • Who's the guitar player playing the white SG?

  • @AceOfHeart2012 I wanna say it's Ronnie Montrose, but I could be wrong. I know for a fact he played with the Edgar Winter Group in the 70's though.

  • @AceOfHeart2012 Sammy Hagar. Ronnie Montrose had left the band right after the album "they only come out at night" and one performance on ABC's IN CONCERT series.

  • @rickyschultzusa Right. I do remember that Montrose played guitar on that record and Derringer produced it. I'm just wondering who the guitar player is playing the white SG in the video.

  • Edgar winter is rocking that hair. Great video.

  • good stuff!!!!!!!!

  • good stuff!!!!

  • I loved this song so much when I was a teenager I bought the 45. Still love it, but wish I could find that record!

  • the sound so perfect!!!

  • dan hartmann on bass -- gret voice great player great singer great writer bad bad hair

  • Kickin ass on this video, live music is all about the feel!

  • a lot better as a teen

  • I just saw both of these guys on saturday but they didn't play any songs together but either way they are still great.

  • Guitarist at 3:10 kinda looks like actor Will Ferral :D lol

  • @jakewwefan yeah. he is very "Night at the Roxbury"... heh heh

  • How do you do the bend at :40 you ask? Just pull down on the low G to A or abouts. Bends can be done without a whammy bar. Most bends are done without it.

  • It's not a "blue note" at :40. It's just a bend to an octave lower.

  • @Wisztrock how the f do you bend down? on a les paul? with no trem?

  • He didn't miss a note at :40, he just hit a "blue note"...... fits fine!

  • @cooltooth112 this note is awesomely awesome!!!

  • @cooltooth112

Well done did you read about the blues note in super easy blues for dummys book?

  • @strothers456 No, I didn't hear about blue notes from a drummer, I heard it out of some guitar magazine many years ago. Sounded like a good excuse for me, so I've used it many times to cover up my mistakes......LOL, actually. I believe I heard it from Robin Ford. I think he was he was talking about playing blues and jazz together.

  • RICK DERRINGER/Rock'n Roll Hoochie Koo 燃えるロック魂、第二弾。このヒト、スティーリーダンとも絡んでる。

  • True story---about 4 years ago I ran saw Rick Derringer at the Grand ole Opry just standing outside before it started.the lady with him was stunning. I didn't bother him but later emailed him and he replied in a nice note it was indeed him and his wife. I had seen him just days before on an oldies show on PBS is the only reason I knew who he was.

  • @seymourbbest cool!

  • @seymourbbest

    Cool dude!

    You're famous!

  • Two of the musicians in this vid are no longer alive

  • Its like everyone thinks Clapton wrote Cocaine Its Winters song and always will be

  • @rickyhackbrook Didn't JJ Cale write Cocaine?

  • @Moptop69 Yes, he did...

  • No one missed a note at .40.

  • There's a terrific interview Edgar Winter vividly remembers this as a very weird moment on stage. Rick Derringer was not scheduled to play this song but simply forced his way on completely unrehearsed.

  • a little sloppy, a little gay, but good nonetheless

  • Dan Hartman is on bass, Ronnie Montrose on guitar, Chuck Ruff on drums. I think.

  • Dan Hartman is on bass. Ronnie Montrose on guitar.

  • @mcsticks100 Not Ronnie Montrose. JERRY WEEMS Gibson SG.

  • @guywalker29 Thanks man, it's been a long time. Also a long time since Montrose had hair. Cheers.

  • Thats Dan Hartman on guitar ... not Dan Johnson.

  • Saturday night deluxe....got some to this one

  • Rick is great. The sweet evil album kicks ass. And yeah, that drummer is a trip.

  • I just met Rick today... Really nice guy! Super down to earth and cool.

  • Nice to see Rick on that guitar. Yeah that drummer is a trip.

  • rock it rick! cool solo!

  • Respond to this video...

  • That`s Danny Johnson on guitar

  • @shanghi68 Or donald duck yes.. Rick Derringer !

  • 1974

  • Local moms are alone do you need to meet them naneedj.info

  • Is that Prince or Dave Nivarro on the right?

  • @puntagordy might as well be their dad

  • Is that Ronnie Montrose at the back there?

  • Wow those drums sound like cardboard boxes on a partial dose of steroids.

  • both these guys play with ringo starr now

  • @wunderlad Drummer has great presence and Rick's voice sounds so deep and older, yet he looks so young....powerful vox!

  • Dig that fire-red jumpsuit!

  • drummer at 0:56 lmao..

bass player at : 1:01 LMAO!

  • Awesome. Background vocals were a little reluctant, but it's more real that way.

  • Holy crap, I see a Keytarr!

  • The drummer is priceless.

  • @wunderlad lol, i know. He looks like Sebastian Bach off Skid-Row. However, Bach was like 5 years old then.

  • @wunderlad That would be Bobby Caldwell

  • @hotdammusic Are you sure it isn't Chuck Ruff on drums? The video quality is pretty bad, and I can't tell for sure.

  • @wunderlad Yeah, looks like he's going for the Ginger Baker look and pulling it off.

  • @wunderlad lol I know, that dude is ridiculously high

  • @martin23.... No fuckin' shit Sherlock figured that out on your own.

  • Hoochie Coo sounds sexual to me

  • did rick played both with fender and gibson?

  • @Solidguitar1993 Rick has played many different guitars. Fenders, Gibsons, you name it. He has also had many custom guitars made for him. One you will probably see in other videos is his natural finish Gibson Explorer-style custom guitar. The name luthier that built has slipped my mind. Sorry about that. Rick always has the coolest guitars.

  • Someone missed a note @ :40

  • @geostillo78 was it Rick

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Yeah, im thinkin' it was.

    Pretty sure.

LOL! Damn shame you fuck up your own riff! It happens...

  • @geostillo78 That's what LIVE music is about...They missed ALOT of "notes"! I know. I'm have music degree and been playing guitar since I was 13. Critics like you just make us better! Thanx!

  • @tomzworkbox We have something in common.

Been playing since i was 13 too tom.

Now, im 32 so i understand shit happens, but ive never fancied myself a music critic and am definately not congradulating YOU PERSONALLY on your mistakes on live gigs, but in your infinate guitarism im sure you can see the hilarity in missing a bass note on the low E huh?

    "I'm have music degree"?

Well, "Opulence, i has it." ZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @geostillo78

    LOL damn sure did

  • @geostillo78 not a missed note--we call those "blue notes".

  • @cooltooth112 Listen man, im not dissing Rick or blue notes, but i dont think it sounds good.

Yes, yes dude, ive played the guitar for 19 years so i know what a blue note is.

Just dont like it. My opinion.

  • @geostillo78 but even this mistake sounds awesome :-)

  • @geostillo78 Derringer play the right note, he just finished it on a lower octave and did a little dive.

  • @geostillo78 He played the right note, just decided to finish on a lower octave with a little dive. Do you really think he'd miss the entire D string?

  • Adding this to one of my playlists!!! Can't beat the old classics!
