  • yea i turnt the idle down and what exhaust is on ur red cummins? looks alot bigger then a 4in and is it straight piped

  • @cummins4020 it's a 4" turbo back made by Diamond Eye. You can buy them from Treasure Valley diesel website for $269 with Free shipping, It's an awesome kit it even comes with a 4" Turbo down pipe and it just has a 3" flange welded on the end to hook to the stock turbo.

  • @cummins4020 Yes 4" turbo back straight pipe.

  • alright when i screw the power screw in on the back of the pump i only went a turn and a half and it started to run away? Any ideas why? the truck is non intercooled and the pump hasnt been dicked with before still had the clamp on the power screw, and another question if u take the cap off the top of the afc housing is that considered the smoke screw if i turn it clock wise will it fuell faster or just roal the coal and if a put a 40hp fuel pin would i still turn it "smoke screw"? thanks

  • @cummins4020 Sometimes it doesn't take much to run away, did you adjust the idle after you turned up the screw?? that is the smoke screw under the cap, turn the center torx part down clockwise, but when you put a fuel pin in back the screw out or the pin will start too far down.

  • I definitely owe you a beer for this one. Thanks for the video, spring went in today without a hitch. Wouldn't have done it without this.

  • Stop talking and just show what needs done. Geez

  • @ekclimo How did you even find this video? you don't own a cummins and your rude which means you don't own a 1st gen

  • do you keep the power screw like that? or do you keep it like that, my lever for the power screw busted off oops, and think its in the pum so im thinking thats why my truck isnt starting

  • Thanks for this outstanding technical video! I'm not currently doing anything with my VE in my 93 but I'm sure adding this video to my Cummins Tech playlist. It's so nice to find this kind of detail and expertise on YouTube.

  • oh ok thats means mine is gona be a w350 then, im planning on trying to put twins on it

  • sweet im trying to get a cummins now i have an old idi ford and im selling my S10 to get a 92 d350 cummins fourwheel drive, hell its nice to meet sumone my own age that dontsound like a complete dummy trying to talk about this stuff, were do u live at? im in tn

  • @bp8696 I am in New Jersey and a D250 means it's a 2wd....The W means it's 4x4.

    So a 4x4 350 would be a W350 .......W=4x4 and D=2wd

  • haha wow im 17 and its amazing how people look at u when u know more about there truck then they do lol

  • @bp8696 Yea it's fucking awesome. I blow peoples minds when i start talking about them and working on them, I've stuck notes on the doors of 1st gen cummins saying if you want me to turn your truck up give me a call and so far 2 have responded and i've taken them in as friends now they drop their trucks off to me once a month for more tunage, putting a he351 turbo on one right now.

  • @91CTD so are you pretty familiar with the P7100?

  • @bp8696 im only 16 and i do that to people around here lol i agree it is really fun cause not many ppl know about diesels

  • why not just pop the throttle shaft out of the top pump cover, hook the springs up, then pull the shaft up through the cover when ur putting it back on ?

  • @suckballzz hahhah because how would you attach the side of the spring to the governor inside the pump? thats the hardest thing about the whole swap

The throttle shaft won't come out without the top cover being off.

  • @91CTD once the top cover bolts are off, lift the cover but press down on the shaft at the same time. the shaft will come out and the whole assy will just sit there, (if it wants to be nice) . (just remember to grease up the shaft o-ring when putting it back in). done it that way heaps. your way looks much harder trying to put the spring on when the shaft is still in the cover.

  • I'm all for the older 12V Cummins engines, especially VE-pumped ones.

  • im a new b to the gen 1 cummins jus got a mudder with one in it... what upgrades to you suggest and what does the 3200 spring do?

  • @theking12089 check out my other vids on turning up the pump. and I'd buy a DennyT performance fuel pin for $110. Just go to his site, (google DennyT performance fuel pins)

The 3200 spring increases the governor from 2700 rpm to 3200 rpm giving you alot more useable RPM and better throttle response and more speed!!

  • @91CTD will it hurt the engine at all if it revs that high? i didnt know the RPMs were soo low wow

  • yes it all applies to 4bt engines with a VE pump and no i'm not a cummins tech just a 16 yr old kid

  • Are you a cummins tech? does all of your info apply to the 4bt engines as well?

  • Good video. I wish you would had made a before and after video rpm rev.
