My point is that western sudan is an area of great hardship, and its why Sudan is "on the map" for alot of westerners.
I'm sure that eastern Sudanese are fine people, however, they aren't the ones being murdered en masse by a brutal regime, so forgive me when i say that I'm not really interested. I'm interested in ending the sufferering that your quality of life is causing the black non-muslim demographic...

@UniversalStar2000 Actually Sudanese are a very diverse group. You have ancient egyptian/ethiopian/yemeni types in the north and east. West African types in the west, and nilote types in the south. In other words, it is a microcosm of African.

@bumbachoka my mom is Kurdish. Her whole family line is from Iraq, but she still considers herself Sudanese rather than Arab despite her Arab appearence. What I'm saying is very little people in Sudan considers themselves Arabs or Africans, were just plain Sudanese! You can't deny people like my mom the right to be Sudanese or Aran just becuse racism in the country, no one has to choose sides Salam :)

@bumbochaka ....Gulf Arabs looked like them 200yrs ago, I would say probable. Maybe the people you speak of are ignorant as apposed to having an inferiority complex. I for my part am very proud to be Arab and African. You would need to refer to the uploader to find out why there are no darker skinned women portrayed, and you dont know for a fact that the women present here were 'bleached' as this phenomenon is an issues throughout the world.

This in itself makes them different not better, than other Africans as their practices and viewpoints differ. I mean at what point does one stop being Arab and start being N. Sudanese? @hummingbird975 My grandfather informed me of an ethnographic study that concluded the Shaigia had deep Berber, Dinka and Turkish roots, but not really Arab. I have never seen that study so I do not take it as fact, however I must be a fool to think outside of popular Sudanese beliefs that do not actually have evidence supporting them. Obviously I am not talking about ALL Sudanese, but many I have witnessed have race issues which I believe stem from categorizing themselves as "arab".

@hummingbird975 You are right, I misspoke calling Sudanese an ethnicity. But what I was trying to communicate is clear. I am Sudanese, Northerner, Shaigia and have fairly light skin but I do not consider myself arab. SOME speak the language and share some of their customs, but we are different, and BETTER than arabs. I'm not denying possible arab ancestry, but I don't define myself as something I am not. Sudanese need to be proud of who they are collectively... from the Rashaida to the Dinka

Do you know the history of the Shaigia? there is not possible Arab ancestry, this is one of the tribes with known Arab ancestry - paternally- but that is neither here or there. @131celt1 Agreed. The problem in Sudan is that most northerners cannot admit to their African ancestry! They put so much emphasis on being arab and look at African as so negative... thus they discriminate against their own countrymen, not giving them an equal share in the wealth or governing of Sudan, and it remains politically unstable and unable to progress as it should economically. Sudan could have been the greatest African nation, instead it is splitting b/c of this stupid "Arab" mentality

@bumbochaka That's fair, but have you been to Sudan lately? At least 75% of the high paying government jobs are held by southern sudanese. They are living pretty well over there, nothing like the images the media feeds us. and being sudanese I can honestly say that I love ALL sudaneses people, black white arab or african. It is ashame that our beautiful country has to be split up, but in my heart, we'll always remain one! To tell you the truth, no one in my family considers themselves arab :)

@131celt1 I just got back from Sudan.That govt. integration was the result of years of war, international pressure and the CPA, it had to be forced. And regardless of a few well-educated southerners now living comfy, there is still rampant racism among the population and a severe lack of infrastructure/basics like roads and clean drinking water in other parts of the country. My mother works for a non-profit and has seen kordofan and darfur, those people have nothing bc other areas are priority.

Algerians are African, Lebanese, syrian are mixed with European blood, if they are white doesn't mean that they are arab. Sudanese are mixed also and not only with Arab, be logical when you make a comment. Sudanese are not waiting for the lebanese or any others to recognize them as Arab and for your information sudan is a part of the Arab league, means it is recognized as arab country from all the arab nation also it is an african country and proud to be africans so.
