This is the only video you will see showing Crystal holding a guitar. Unlike her sister Loretta who used the guitar in many of her early performances, Crystal moved away from the pure country imagery for a more middle-of-the-road appearance. However, she has never strayed from her good, old-fashion country values.
@bookieswartz I agree with you that Crystal looks younger in this video than 20 years old. She is singing a James Taylor song that was released in 1968 (not one of her recordings), so my guess is that this appearance is from early 1970 before she started recording her own songs. By August 1970 she had recorded and released "I've Cried the Blue Right Out of My Eyes" (written by her sister Loretta Lynn).
"Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" came out much later in 1977.
I just noticed something new in this... at "2:00" a guitar player broke a string and u see Crystal kinda look over at him. I think that is what is taking place.

Wow , this is absolutely horrible . Then again, putting a country " flair " , or lack there of , on anything rarely turns out acceptable . I guess you can't expect much from someone out of Paintsville Kentucky lol
U r a complete moron to say this is horrible. No offense intended to you. I understand being stupid as I used to be. This video is incredible in every way and words cannot adequately express how beautiful in every way Crystal is in this video.
EEEK! The '60s visuals -- the psychedelic/kaleidoscope effect going on with Crystal's blouse - is really hard to look at. Hard to imagine a time when we actually all thought this kind of thing was cool LOL. A nice performance by Crystal, though. Interesting, to my ears, her vocal style here sounds much closer to her sister Loretta Lynn's, than to how she would sound a few years later when she finally broke through.

It's funny how much better her voice got when she found her style & she turned into a total fox but was quite plain back then.

There is nothing Crystal can't make sound amazing. My favorite singer of all time. I wish her and Don Williams could have done a duet together.
