  • @camargof5

Simply download connectify or virtual router

  • I didn't know that. I bought one today. Thanks

  • @thebluray There are several other videos that I have posted about this laptop. Make sure to check on the "HP DV6T QE - Touchpad Improvements" video because you might need it.

  • is there a way to make this laptop a wifi hot spot?

  • @camargof5 That's a Windows 7 feature, and yes it's possible. I'm sure there are articles and video tutorials on this and you can find them via Google and Youtube. (1m)

  • thanks :)

  • @Theguitarskater1 I'm glad the video was useful. :)

  • hey plz help:! for 2 days ago my touchpad :click`; dident work i can navigate and use the buttons under it but touchpad itself dosent work when i click on it or lik try to open a program it dosent work only when i use the buttoms under the touchpad help pls

  • @semekn2005 Use a physical mouse and redownload and install the drivers from HP's website. If that doesn't work then the unit is defective and may need repairs. (-1m)

  • Thanks buddy :)

  • @azizulkahharakash I'm glad the video was useful.

  • Thanks! I now really know how i disable the touchpad when i playing :D and trying to retrieve this back :D this really helps me :)

  • @matysek583 I'm glad the video was useful. I also recommend checking the "dv6t qe touchpad improvements" video.

  • @JesseBAndersen is this one better than a macbook as far as resolution goes?

  • @IsrealRichHDVEVO There are different screen versions. A 720p one and a 1080p full HD one. I'm not sure what Macbook you are thinking of so maybe yes or maybe not. (-1m)

  • Hi, How to change the keyboard on this laptop?.

  • @no2nonsense I'm sure there are replacement parts online.

  • @JesseBAndersen

Thanks. I wanted to know how to pop out the old keyboard and replace it with the new one.

I want to know the procedure.

  • @no2nonsense I don't have the "how to" on how to replace the keyboard. Google "HP Pavilion DV6T Quad Edition Maintenance and Service Guide .PDF" and you should see a document with the info.

  • Love u <3 haha thx :))

  • @HawzaMaker :)

  • @JesseBAndersen love your meaningful smile

  • @zederish They are free! Have two more. :) :)

  • @JesseBAndersen love those smiles :)

  • thank you soo much, i always thought i have to leave with the lights on..

  • @hicksalan1 I'm glad the video was useful.

  • thank you sooo much i thought my light burned out

  • @airwarrior98 Most of the time I have it off... so it's not super useful. I would have liked the keyboard with backlight and the ability to turn it on/off.

  • I have my a6-3400m overclocked to 2.5Ghz and it runs very stable....this is on the level of an i7 WITH Intel HD Graphics

  • I cant lock mine! im using my mouse and always move it by leaning on the trackpad

  • @LaidbackLukee That's a bit weird. HP did release a few new systems and maybe they changed the touchpads.

It could also be that you don't have the drivers that would enable that. So check on the HP support site for the latest drivers.

Hope that helps a bit. :)

  • thanks

  • @hayarpyvardanyan Yep. :)

  • GRASIAAAAAASS!!!!! i can't believe are too easy solve my problem its super helpfull thanks dude :D

  • @raavi102 Yep. I'm glad the video was helpful. If you press FN+B you can turn off/on the Beats by Dre enhancements.

  • thank you so much. when i first bought the laptop the only problem i had was the pointless ring around the trackpad.

  • @TheSlipKnot981 It can be a bit annoying... so turning it off makes a more pleasant experience.

  • thanku very much i actually thaught i broke it or something

  • @thegamernr111 :) FYI there's also FN+B which enables/disables the Beats By Dre.

  • @JesseBAndersen oh no im not the lucky 2 have the bats one haha i have the basic dv6 unfortunately thanks tho mate

  • @thegamernr111 Ah ok.

  • Thanks that helped me soooo much!

  • @foxlalala123 Yep. There's also FN+B which enables/disables the Beats By Dre.

  • @JesseBAndersen I tried the FN+B and the audio quality dropped an INSANE amount

  • @foxlalala123 Yes. The audio sounds way richer with the Beats audio enabled. The settings can be tweaked if you wanted to, but most of the time it's fine as it is.

  • Thankz bro

  • @TheZidan98 Yep.

  • thanks alot man. i thought my touch pad light was broken also. now i know how to turn it off and on

  • @jamrs12 Sweet.

  • Thanks so much for posting this video i don't know how it turned off and i thought it was broken i didnt know how to turn it on and off so thanks a lot =)

  • @briturbina Yep. I'm glad the video was useful.

  • ty bro

  • Ta

  • thanks, man strait to the point

  • @joseaaher15 Thanks. It wasn't exactly direct to the point but hopefully it was enough. :)

  • lol thank you it was so annoying without the light

  • @dethklokicksbutt Yep. Movie time was very unpleasant with the light on. I'm glad the video was useful.

  • First result on Google, straight to the point. Thanks very much!

  • thanks man this helped!!

  • @Fidelq24 I'm glad the video was helpful.

  • Sweet, I turned it off by mistake lol.

  • @CHADROTO Me too! I thought it was burned out.

  • hey i just got the same laptop and for some reason i cant scroll with the touchpad any help?

  • @camargof5 By default it uses the two touch finger scrolling. You can change this.

Search on youtube for "dv6t touchpad improvements" /watch?v=cG9FYqnmfgQ

  • @JesseBAndersen thanks alot your videos answered all my questions keep it up man

  • @camargof5 Sweet.

  • Hello maybe you can help me I have the same touchpad but the scroll, zoom and double tap for turn of the touchpad don't work anymore. all other function of the touchpad work.

  • @sjeskie Try reinstalling the drivers.

  • This laptop's awesome :D. Best laptop I've ever owned

  • do u still have your W520, Jesse? any lenovo related vids cooking? :]

  • @eladbari I don't have the W520 anymore. It was a one month load by Lenovo. If I manage to return the Samsung Series 7 Slate and get my money back I'll have enough to get another system and maybe it will be a Lenovo branded one.

  • @JesseBAndersen yea, i totally understand you. Its enough gadgets to handle :]

Hope you didnt get anything u regret of buying now :]

  • @eladbari I buy a lot of goodies just to test them out and make little videos on Youtube. Then I return them so I can get more goodies and make more videos... :)

  • omg thanks!!

  • @SweetHandsUp Yep.

  • oh my god thank you so much! that light was driving me nuts! you are the man for posting this

  • @DigitalHappyMeal Yep. No problemo.

  • thank you very mach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SubaeAlsebai you are welcomed. :)

  • Can you be more clear on how to re-enable the touchpad? Mine has been accidentally disabled a few times and the only way I can get it back is to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up (or full restart)

  • @braschlosan When the touchpad is disabled it shows an orange light. When it's enabled it doesn't show the orange light. This can be done by tapping on the top left side of the touchpad. That's it. The white light enabling/disabling is done by FN+spacebar. The touchpad must be enabled for Fn+spacebar/white light to function. What I have described is the normal way of doing things. If you are having difficulties then you may need to reinstall the drivers.

  • Thanks, I was wondering why the light was suddenly off.

  • @xXL3GACY Try fn+b and you can turn on/off the Beats by Dre

  • wow, u just answered my question in less then 2 minutes :) THANK YOU! What is the purpose for this light? And why couldnt HP be trendy and make more color light options?!

  • @mrdave777 It would have taken less than 7 seconds if I hadn't talked so much about why we would want to turn it off. ;)

  • omg, thank you very much, thank you !!!

  • @aNdeKaNdY I'm glad the video was helpful. FYI if you want to turn on/off the Beat by Dre try Fn + B

  • @JesseBAndersen

Just for info, the rectangle(tap twice), doesnt work for me. I have to manually disable the touchpad(downloaded the systaptics drivers). Is there a way to fix my rectangle, so everything will shut down (touchpad+light)? Maybe because i overwrote windows that was up(home premium) when i bought it and installed ultimate? Thank u

  • @aNdeKaNdY Well you may have to start downloading drivers from HP's website. If you download the drivers from the Synaptics website then it may not allow you to fix that (there are proprietary drivers that the system needs)

  • Also, you have changed my life too jeje, from bogota, thanks

  • @jorgemecanicaud What the... sure I have changed it forever! muahaha

  • if you turn the touchpad light off and you turn off your computer and turn back on your computer will the touchpad light come back on or will it stay off?

  • @DaraTheDreamer It wills stay off until you reactivate it.

  • @JesseBAndersen thx :)

  • @DaraTheDreamer Yep.

  • legendary, you have changed my life.

  • @chiverenos Never thought such a tip could do that... hahaha. ;-)

  • finally someone with an answer XD

  • @MikeDENDLESS Yep. It seems that HP's customer support doesn't know about this. Usually customer support services use a database of information to solve problems.... but they may not have the system themselves to actually know.

  • Hey, can you please find a way to turn off the HP logo light on the back?? It's annoying because I have my laptop in the room that I sleep in and that thing is bright... I jus want to turn it off completely, but without having to shut down my laptop every night. If you have a solution, please let me know. Thanks!!!

  • @buddyru So far I haven't seen a software solution. A piece of tape might do the trick (although it won't look too pretty).

  • Thx is Man i'm happy again :-P

  • @KevinReints Making the world a better place to live one tech tip at a time!

  • oh and ya does this laptop has DVD and CD drive?

  • @ChoChoTuT It has a DVD drive on the right side. For a while HP was giving away a free Blu-Ray drive upgrade.

  • OMG super computer and cheap also ill buy it for sure its almost like alienware but million times cheaper

  • @ChoChoTuT Since I got mine there have been a few updates that make it even better.

  • O OK thanks

  • I mean for Da steel gray dm4 n dv6

  • Is there a light for the dm4 da 14" one or is it just on Da dv6

  • @DatHarlemNigga4U I'm not sure about that. I bet if you view a few videos you can determine if it does or it doesn't.

  • Thanks Man! I thought i broke my laptop or something cuz the light wasn't on. I was about to call HP and tell them. But now I know how to turn it off. Another thing.. do you know how to turn the Beats Audio function on or off? I will be typing something and I don't know what I press but the beast audio thing turns either on or off. Thanks XD

  • @FrancGary FN + B to turn on/off the Beats Audio.

  • Dude. You just saved me a headache. I had this issue today with no clue to what was going on. Called a tech. from HP, and the tech. couldn't figure out what the issue was. Later on it's working, I'm scratching my head and low and behold, your video to this enigma answered this mysterious question. I'd thought that my laptop was going bad after a week of owning it.

  • @epics7 The customer service rep doesn't have an HP DV6T QE... those guys work off a database of Q&A in their Dell computers. I'm glad the video was helpful.

  • Accidentally turned the light off and didn't know what I did and how to get it back. Thanks! haha

  • @pew2007 Yep.

  • Wow, thanks a bunch...watching movies was a pain with the lights on...didn't know I can turn em off till I saw this video. :)

  • @hyedefinition1080 I'm glad the video was helpful.

  • THANK YOU SOSOSO MUCH!!

  • @bllor2 well thank you for the comment. :)

  • thank yoooooooooooooooooou jesse

  • @KuwNova Yep.

  • I have another question: Is there a way to turn off the HP logo light on the back of the lid? It's a little inconvenient at night.

  • @Keough709 Not that I know of.

  • Thank you!! The light was driving me nuts!

  • @Keough709 I'm glad the video was helpful.

  • Thanks mate. The white light's been driving me mad on my dv7.

Will pop in to look at your blog periodically too.

    Cheers!

  • @Ramakrishnan7d Sweet. Glad the video was helpful.

  • thanks

  • @mike93345 You are welcomed!

  • Thanks! Taught my light was broken :p

  • @bjokko95 You would have to be someone special to break the light. ;)

  • Jesus i feel retarded now. I've spent about 3 hours trying to figure this crap out, and all it took was a simple youtube video.

    Thanks man.

  • @MsHookerface Google and Youtube make things easier to find answers and save time. :-) Glad the video was useful

  • @MsHookerface Don't feel to bad. Had this same problem today which led me to do a search. Thank god for Youtube. The tech. at HP had no clue and concluded that it was a hardware issue. You'd think that they train them in knowing what should be basic knowledge of the computers functions.

  • @epics7 Yeah. I did it on accident the first time, had no idea what was going on. I didn't think anything of it because it didn't impair the functionality. I thought it was just a bad LED. Then one day, i turned it back on, not knowing how i did it. I was just like, ok, that's pretty cool.

Then it happened again, so i looked for an answer lol.

Tech support is usually retarded. Every time i call ANY tech support, they make me do all sorts of random crap. Not worth it.

  • @MsHookerface that's pretty much what happened to me. after over 2 hours of wasted time on the phone, I started hitting buttons and it came on. Baffled. I'd found your video and damn, there it is. I agree with the later, the tech. service is the worse. I cringe when I know that the tech service is overseas because I know what's coming next. I don't have an issue with the overseas thing, but it's the too cheap to pay someone that is giving us bad service due to poor training. youtube is a gold.

  • Almost forgot, like you, it didn't impair the functionality of mine either, but I had just got this thing last week and wasn't going for that. But I'm glad that I didn't have to exchange it. That's a headache too. They didn't want to even exchange due to the promo coupon and wanted to take the difference out of my credit card and then give it back to me after they ship the replacement off. Smh. Come on HP.

  • @epics7 Lol. I had mine for a week as well. I was kinda pissed that the light went out so fast after just buying it.

Now it's been a couple months, and i freaking love this computer.

  • thanks!!!

  • @jhonissharp You are welcomed.

  • thanks bruz!

  • @OhYaTona94 Yep.

  • brilliant cheers for that, reflection was really annoying when I was watching films

  • @Qu1k3r I agree 100%

  • how do you get white light, when i try the keys it doesnt work

  • @vietkid36692 You might have to update your drivers. I think the only way to turn the light off is by doing the key combination.

  • @JesseBAndersen how did you enable the white light at the first place, thanks

  • @vietkid36692 The light was enabled when I got the system.

  • thanx a lot!

  • @chamele0nboy You are welcomed.

  • is there anyway to get a backlit keyboard on this?

  • @biron937 Not easily. You would need to be a modder and do it yourself.

  • are the fingerprints on the dark umber annoying?

  • @aymanalij Yes. You will have to clean it every once in a while.

  • @JesseBAndersen and how did u track ur laptop temps?

  • @aymanalij Running a program called "Real Temp".

  • Everyone is telling me that HP has problem with cooling, and overheats often. Is that true with that particular model ? Does overheat when you play demanding games for example ? And is it too loud ?

  • @Salpata92 I'm sure most gaming laptops will run hot and the fans will be fairly loud. When systems get really hot they shutdown, and so far my HP laptop has not gotten that hot. 71C at the highest on my end. I wear headphones when playing games, or increase the speaker volume.

  • @JesseBAndersen how do you track the temperatures?

  • @Salpata92 Thank you for the answer. I Guess if get a cooling pad also, it will be just fine, because I think of playing games on my external monitor with external keyboard and mouse.

  • @Salpata92

just got this laptop in the mail yesterday and no this laptop will not overheat unless you cover all the fans up. On furmark ( benchmarking software that really heats your system up, much more than any game) it reaches around 70 degrees Celsius. Many laptops shut off at 100 deg c. so im sure this one will never shut off if you give it air or have a cooling pad.

  • This works for all hp's with this, I just tried it on my sisters. :).

  • @jh3496 If you have a "beats" a FN + B disables the audio enhancements.

  • thanks for the tip. i never knew that you could do that.

  • @xxZR2xx I got the tip from someone a while ago... was it you? :-)

  • @JesseBAndersen no it wasnt me.
