I understand some genuinely thought out negative opinions, unfortunately some of the comments here are beyond belief. This was a performance worthy of respect which clearly musically challenged people do not comprehend as they type in pointless comments deriding a good experiment - obviously they never listened to the whole set.

Mills did what needs to be done, tear down the barriers and unite to create social and cultural unity. And throw in some excellent music to make us happy

This is all kinds of wrong - I don't know where to begin.

A) It's cringeworthy to the level of 'hide behind the sofa'

B) The drum machine sounds + orchestra sound like two different youtube vids playing at once as they're out of time

C) Even the orchestra look embarrassed.

Sorry to chime in with my 2-cents but I do actually like (creative) minimal techno but this is just bad.

Overall I think the only thing that would make this performance more amazing is an actual drummer, or duel drummers, to replace the drum machine. This was amazing to listen to, but in my opinion, having real drummers than a machine would make this piece ... perfect.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that although I like orchestral music and some of Jeff Mills tracks, and I think this performance was an interesting idea, I don't think the two together really work. The TR-909 sounds too tiny when paired with a full orchestra and the handclap samples just make the whole thing sound somewhat silly to me.

The players also look pretty bored playing the same 2 measures over and over and over and over...

Just my opinion...

The orchestra gives the concert because there is nothing more in perfection like classic music. He only gives the surrounding, what is a very difficult task for a DJ. Jeff gave the expression DJ culture a complete new meaning.

Disappointing: Sounds like the soundtrack of a Disney movie over a 4/4 rhythm box. Techno is about essence and not superficial motifs and decorations. Nice try though.

It´s a great idea, but for me it still sounds just like an orchestra with some beats. It´s not one sound, there are two areas which doesn´t seem to belong really together. The beats are weak, for an hour they simply sound always the same.
