Well yea with a stock 1600cc you should cruise it at 60 to 70. You should lisent to your friend, he know his stuff.

What top speed can you cruise in it? Mine is a '70 Beetle and I have been "strongly advised" by a certified VW mechanic to keep my top speed in summer no higher than 65mph / 70mph in winter to avoid scarring the cylinder walls.

@MrSevvo it hold up pretty good. except from so much over revving two of my cylinders go thight and eventually had to change the heads... :(  but now i have a 2275cc love it. :) you really have to take care of these motors or they wont last you... i race a z28 camaro last week he beat me by a car lenght but i just wasnt use to the new clutch and pressure plate... i didnt get out of the hole quick. I will get my revenge...lol...

@nitemare125 Thanks.. The car looks alot different now. I put Porsche alloys on it. Lower the front. Im puttin 67 tail lights on it. I have the 66 front fenders. but thats for later. Im also building a way bigger engine for it... In in the 22's wit dual 44s carbs... Its gonna be ready within a month or two... Cant wait...

those fly by shots are speeded up. no argument. look at the other cars. and also by the fact it looks like its going about 180mph. lol.

A 1835cc, x2 44idf ,fk10 cam and c/r 10.6:1 will give about 160bhp thats with big valve heads at 42mm x 37.5mm. id guess this is running 130bhp.
