Buy day we build, at night they come! Lights will stop enemies spawning (except slimes very low down). They do attract farm animals though as you've seen.

Seriously though minecraft, more addictive than MMO's. Love the game! Panser you should checkout the "painterly pack" (google) its a texture pack that lets you pick how the blocks will look.

Ok there is roughly 5 types of mobs that will eat your face. 1 the annoying zombie punches your face. then there is the spider whom can climb up vertical wall drops string which can use make a bow. then they might creeper who blows it self up next you and break your house with giant hole in it drops sulfur to make tnt best thing use is a bow then skeleton shoots you with arrows then the ghast from nether shoot fire ball that explode its found in nether and has 0.1% chnce of escaping. have fun.

Once you already have a giant pit, a 1x1 hole with ladders (every 2nd block) is a lot faster for going up & down.

@TradeChat Not sure if they told you how to edit the art in the gaem, but there is a file in your .minecraft/bin folder called minecraft.jar this file contains the graphics associated with the game. Open archive on it and then you can see the files inside. The Art folder in there contains the kz.png file and if you edit this you can put in your own art. Choose a pic you want in the game and convert it to a like resolution. (continued on next post)

@TradeChat (continuation) This is done by seeing how many blocks the art you want to replace covers in game and then multiplying that by 16 and changing the resolution of the pic to that. Ex. a pic that covers 2 blocks horizontally should be a resolution of 32 along the top and 16 down the side so it would be 32pxls x 16 pxls. Then paste it into the kz file directly over the one you want to replace. Save it and insert it back in the mincraft.jar file, and don't forget to copy the old file.:)

Make sure to make a bow and arrow. It makes killing monsters much easier. Although you gotta kill few spiders for the bow... Also, NEVER leave your door open at night.

And when placing your door, look towards the outside, as you did. That will let you go right up against the door and whack away at whatever is on the outside safely, unless it's a creeper. In that case, stay away from your door.

And having that waterfall from the outside is risky. Use a bucket to bring the water source inside.

You can actually go lower than bedrock. You need a shit ton of dynamite but you can do it. All you see is a bottomless hole. Also, never ever ever ever ever FUCKING EVER leave your door open at night. Put a pressure plate right inside your door, not on the outside, whenever you walk inside you walk over it and it will automatically close your door for you and automatically opens it when you are leaving your house and you have 1 second to walk through before it closes.
