Johnny is just that good. I have that VK head, and it does sound that awesome, I use the preamp sound without stompboxes, the other guitarist in my band has one too, but he says it doesn't sound like mine, maybe they vary from amp to amp, but then again, I'm also using an Ampeg 2x12 cab loaded with vintage 30s.

I think the VK are plugged to the classic 30 right on the side, this amp had a realy great tone.

I just want to know how on earth he gets that tone out of a Peavey Valve King. I have the 50W combo version of that amp and it doesn't sound anywhere near that good. I guess its in the hands or something.

208414 those amps sound great as soon as you start modifying them. New tubes, and a new speaker and supposedly they sound incredible.

I've done both. I put a set of TAD 6L6's in the power section and Tung-Sol 12AX7's in the preamp section. For speakers I run it into a 2x12 Avatar cab with Celestion V30's. Still sounds fizzy. My VHT Sig:X kills the Peavey.
