@ireturted The workout "Linda" call's for 1-1/2 Body Weight Deadlifts, Body Weight Bench Press, 3/4 Body Weight Squat Cleans. Speal weighs 140 lbs, so for the Deadlifts he did 140 x 1.5 = 210, and for the Squat Clean he did 140 x .75 = 105.
LOL, no need to get angry over it bro. But this is how CrossFittrs veiw it. Mass, Distance, Time: He or She who can do the most amount of work in the shortest amount of time is more fit than the others who moved the same weight, the same distance for time, theres no set event, they train for the unknown and the unknowable, that means all task, if you don't believe in it, no biggie, just ignore it, or just try it. I hope you do try it, its a lot of fun, I highly recommend it.
@cp24g I do metcons workouts twice a week. I love them!! got my cardio up big time. the other days I do 5 x 5 on 3 lifts and that has gotten me stronger. the combination has worked for me . it blows my mind how strong these crossfitters are. To tell you the truth I did lose some strength on some moves when I was doing 100% crossfit, so I decided to combine. I love the fact that crossfit is very open to that.
fittest man on the planet?? bwahahahaaaaawwahahahahaa! dude! it was a workout in 15 minutes...I would say anyone in the navy seals or special forces blow this little guy out of the water! Plus, can someone tell my what the point of doing a Power Clean after anywhere above 5 reps??? Power Cleans are to build explosion and there's no way that was even close to being explosive!! Crossfitters need to really stop calling themselves the "fittest" common..your workouts are like 15 minutes long!!lol
@lamarkjr1 dumbass theyre short for a reason. do one of these workouts and i guarantee tit will take you longer than 15 minutes. sorry i forgot for it to be a good workout you have to spend and hour talking with your faggot butt buddies at the gym doing your bicep curls
@lamarkjr1 Why don't you post a video of yourself doing this workout for an hour? Obviously if you're doing 5 or less reps doing power cleans then it is a 'power' exercise. But if you're doing more it becomes more about lactic acid and endurance. Who says that power cleans are necessarily about power? One thing about crossfitters is that they've got heart. That's why they encourage each other at competitions. Because they have peace of mind knowing they've given everything they have...
Dude I so not knocking your workout but if you force your lower back down and squeeze your abs as you bench your bench form will become better and you'll become stronger
@wwwdotcome try it and you will see that lifting will keep the intensity, weights and the ability to do all this reps. its still a killer workout but crossfit is different from weightlifting. just look at the pull ups!
@spoolinspecv its a fine line, touch and go, but your not getting set, the weight is going to bounce when it hits the floor. when it bounces you dont engage proper technique.
@ajsperla48 Yeah that's brilliant mate. You're talking about one of the fittest men on the planet, i'm pretty sure if his technique was poor it would've been picked up by now. Could you please show a video where you complete this workout with the form that you preach please. If not, stop talking shit.
@gophermaster oh dear, another crossfit hater. No not just because he's good at crossfit. The guys power to weight ratio is almost unrivalled. He excels in all areas of fitness. I won't go on but please just watch his videos. Most fit people are great at 1 maybe 2 particular events, such as Olympic marathon runners, however they lack strength in almost all other areas of fitness. Chris does not.
@pennthebaker you could take the average college football or basketball player, and within a month or two have them meeting or exceeding crossfit workouts of experienced crossfitters; they would need time to adapt to the new stimulus. You could not say the reverse is true for crossfit people to gain the agility or strength these guys have. And he isn't unrivalled on power to weight ratio, go look at real olympic athletes in his weight class.
@gophermaster Yet another ridiculous comment from someone who hasn't got a clue what they're talking about. Watch the videos, get educated, get some experience. Then tell me average joes can handle Chris speal. Idiot.
@pennthebaker I didn't say average joe, I said average college athlete. I was asserting that a great many people can do what is shown in this video, and with much more weight. I was addressing your point that this man was somehow among the fittest on the planet, which I think is hyperbole to an extreme degree.
@gophermaster Not many people could complete this workout in this time with anywhere near as much weight, let alone more. Fitness to me is the ability to be elite right across the board. I promise you if you go on the crossfit website and search out his videos you will be utterly impressed. I wouldn't have made such a claim if there wasn't evidence to back it up.
@pennthebaker Like I said before, I believe most college athletes could do "Linda" at much higher bodyweight. I know I can do this WOD as rx'd @ 190lbs, I could certainly do the weight this man is doing without breaking a sweat. I train with athletes in football, oly lifting, power lifters, Strongmen and highland games competitors. Minus the power lifters, all these guys have excellent strength and cardiovascular conditioning, but you don't hear them brag about being the fittest in the world.
@gophermaster Well i've given you the tools. Now it's your decision as to whether or not you want to get the knowledge. What an exciting training arena you must work in to be surrounded by all those unrelated and somewhat obscure athletes. Footballers and highland games competitiors all working out together. Amazing. Lol.
@pennthebaker the coach that runs it takes private clients from all over and trains strength and conditioning, it is a pretty cool place since I got exposed to all sorts of training methodologies. A lot of local teams also contract with him or his staff to fix their programs.
@gophermaster Okay go ask if you can have a spot in the crossfit games and see how you do compared to all of the other amazing crossfitters out there, its not just Chris Spealler, and another thing dude, stop saying and start proving, do your "Linda at a much higher bodyweight" and post a video response on this
@trechuck I guess it slightly bruises the sternum but nothing to serious is going to come from it, just as dangerous as lifting the weight of the rack I guess :)
@Adamz848 Yeah I agree, I couldn't complete the last rep on max effort today...so yeah, the bar stayed on my chest for a few seconds xD...and it's actually no big deal :D
