The Security of the Island is not in question. I know someone who had boat trouble here and ran aground to fix things. Within minutes they were surrounded by armed, uniformed, soldiers and police. They were chained to a desk and questioned for over an hour and now they have to go to federal court for trespassing. They are over 50 years old and have never been in trouble with the law....hmmmmm

I live in NYC and you all would be so suprised by how fast they swept the "Montauk Monster" story under the carpet. Found just 2 miles from Plum Island on Montauk, Long Island. The story was quickly dismissed as a "bloated dead canine" or a "turtle whos shell was ripped off by an outboard motor on a boat or ship". This is the same government which carried out MK Ultra, anything is possible.

I do agree that the island purpose is moot seeing that the research is not as vital as it was once thought to be during the 1950s, when there was a breakout of livestock foot/mouth disease in Mexico. The research can easily be conducted in a mainland laboratory under current laboratory safety controls, saving the taxpayers MILLIONS of dollars of operation cost to run the island.

It is truly a hoax to transport via ferry hundreds of government workers back and forth everyday to the island to conduct the research basically a negligible inane disease (There has never been a break-out of foot-mouth disease on US mainland soilsever). I have worked for the private engineering firm that has designed all of the USDA Laboratory up-grades for the past 20 years. I have been on every square inch of the island and have seen spaces dating back to the Fort Terry conception of Plum Island. It was my job to assess all island structures history for contamination (chemical and biological), to include laboratory 257. The short answer to Mr. Carrolls entire report/book is bogus and fictional from cover to cover.

I got the book Lab 257 at the library. It is a great read. I couldn't pull myself away. It is a MUST read. They are looking for a place to put a new lab.
