My mother drinks too much, as did her two sisters, as did my grandfather, as did my Uncles and several of my great-aunts and great uncles. And my brother-in-law, after having been married to my sister for 35 years still doesn't REALLY understand why the two of us are barely comfortable with even "social drinking"
We grew up surrounded with alcoholism . Now middle aged, for the first time in my life, I'm not scarred of having an open bottle of booze in my home. At least it stopped at us.
While I'm told the copyright date listed on the back of the videocassette was 1975, this special was actually produced in 1974 and aired originally on Oct. 21 of that year at 8 P.M. (7 P.M. Central).
the 70s?? OMG...........Partying was fun in them days. the only problem with drinking I had in them days was that I was too young to buy. I couldnt wait to be old enough to buy. We used to think that alkys were ppl. who just took one sip and became drunk..LOL. and that AA was a place they went to get sips of wine in the backroom or a bottle in a bag to go.............such ignorance.
This absolutely outstanding. I taught driver's ed. years ago. I searched for the old tapes / films for my kids. The older media is just more relevant....and better messages.
it has made me sick....to think that its not just me.. and there are people out there who could be suffering just as i have been..I wanted to have a sick kind of laughter thats not funny
Great video. I feel bad for Carol as her life & family were destroyed by addiction even though she was famous & respected throughout the world. The public & America's Civic Leaders are still numb & dumb about addiction. They still think it is a choice.Even with thousands of websites & professionals saying different.
Freeman reminds me of Old Spice Guy!

@flybenji you'd be surprised by how many famous people come from families of alcoholics.
