Some people still discuss that Hagia Sophia should turn to a mosque again. I am not agree with them but not agree to be used as a church as well. It is good for a museum now because Hagia Sophia belongs to all people if they feel the peace and comfort in it.

If Hagia Sophia is still standing for 1500 years, there is an important role of the supporting walls which was built by Mimar Sinan who was an Ottoman architect. If muslims had built such a great building in a christian homeland, i think christians could not dare it turn to a museum but after all Atatürk did it.

It was built on ego, greed, wealth, brilliance, in splendid beauty, cleverly but with a few faults that were rectified. It is a Greek orthodox church.. Turkey took it in the 15th century. Put plaster over jesus but not mary. The Sophia belongs to the Orthodox people not the muslims, they don't even use it for a church any more is a damn museum.

It was the largest and most ornate cathedral for about a thousand years.

Amazing in that it was built in the middle of the 6th century. It originally looked a lot different but the muslims plastered over the iconography when they took it in the fifteenth century.
