@EvilNinjaGirl4Ever yeah im actually going back to just flat work to get her more responsive to verbal cues and seat, i think in the long run it will help alot!
@mawazhere13 Just a thought, but clicker training might help ya'll. :-) "PonyPros" and "abirdslife" are two screen names of people who do clicker training, and they are pretty good at giving how to advice/videos. :-) Hope ya'll get to experince the freedom of bitless/bridless riding!
@mawazhere13 Oh man, this was me a couple years ago! The secret is painstaking miles and miles and miles of riding, circles and groundwork, coupled with blood, sweat and tears! It's worth it in the end. Good luck!
@Hantarrrrr ugh, all winter, nothing but riding in circles working on dressage and getting her responsive. still not anywhere near this, but we moved down to a less harsher bit, so thats a start!
i jumped a meter backback and bridless and then after cooloing him out, he took off with me on him and i pulled back on the neck rope and he slowed down to a trot, though the neck rope snapped and then he started bucking and mum said im never alowwed to go bridless again!!! im so upset about it!!! i really love it! and my boy even jumpes bridless!!! =D
I LOVE to play with my horse....it makes me sad when people dont. It still supprised me when other owners ask me what i'm doing too! It never occurs to some people to just play or hang out with their horse.
but it's the truth, I mean, look at the way (s)he's written it, (s)he very obviously seems to dislike his/her horse very much. Also, no horse is "too moody" for such things, you can do it with any horse that is treated with friendliness and respect. Horses will return this to you, no horse you treat well would like to hurt you (of course that sometimes happen, but more because they completely forget our fragility^^)
Without this respect (and piggy seams to miss that) no true connection can be built up.... That's why I said that....
In my opinion only those, that do not own animals just for personal joy but also for the animal's good should own animals; but not those that expect an animal similar to machines, press a button and have an immediate reaction of your wish.
Any animal should be treated with respect just as we humans want to be treated respectfully.
yes thats fun. i just got my first horse and i hide him bareback with a lead rope some time with out a lead rope. and we get on so well. i love my horse Izaya
@Ntrlhrsgrl I have always found bits, harnesses and saddles completely illogical because if you share time regularly with your horse riding without them, with due training, your horse will recognize your subtle body hints for direction. I used to ride a 17.5 hand high retired thoroughbred named Jade who was retired due to a right hind leg fracture. He loved when I would ride him because I rode him without a saddle. He and I would just trot around happily. I passed away and I miss him very much.
Check My Bareback Video Out guys Jumping <3 This Is a really nice video

me and my horse fail at bridleless, she barely stops with a bridle! and she doesnt neckrein either and isnt all that responsive to let haha we fail!
mawazhere13 1 year ago
@mawazhere13 if your horse doesnt listen to you with tack on, it is extremely unsafe and unsmart to ride without.

@mawazhere13 But you made progress! It took me three whole years to get where I am now with my horse, and we still aren't even close to perfect.

@Hantarrrrr yeah I dont think we'll be up to this level for many years to come, but I feel better without having a really harsh bit in :)

I sometimes ride my horse bareback and bridle less, I feel much more connected with him when i do...
Ntrlhrsgrl 3 years ago 20
same.
I just put on the halter and some snap on reins, and go.
It's actually really relaxing.
