Fact is that nowadays, the supermarkets aren't even cheap compared to their non-corporate competition. As the price of commodities goes up, the supermarkets have profiteered, making a larger margin while making excuses. The quality of fresh food especially is at rock bottom - one day at home and it's rotten. Supermarkets have laid waste to the economy. But while their advertising keeps the newspaper industry afloat, don't expect anything to change in a hurry.
you have no one to blame for eating poison but your selves
think about it you expect someone else to catch or kill the food, chop it into pieces, freeze it, drive it into the city, store and present it in an appetizing way
their is no other life on this planet so lazy, so spoiled to expect others to bring in the meat. city people are faggots, none of them know the basics how to feed themselves how, make a fire, build shelter
I get that this has to be done, but I do feel sorry for the individual workers they're exposing. Obviously some are directly responsible, but others are just doing what they're told so they get to keep their job. They're human, they probably feel like they're doing enough by informing those they care about of what really goes on.
@eddiehatred I agree 100%! This sad and cruel to the employees which they are inevitably exposing before their peers, for what? So they can be used as pawns by either the union or a hostile individual who thinks that they are doing "Good." If this person really wanted to expose TESCO why be so ruthless?
Oh how predictable - Massive Attack's Angel on the soundtrack. It gets used WAY too much in tv shows. They love the metronome for some reason. It's become a tv cliche.
I bought some cheese from tesco only yesterday, i opened it and it was slimy, stinks also had white bits all the way through it that looked like crushed cat litter, still in date wtf it's put me off cheese now.
I am amazed at how many people commenting blame the staff. I mean what the fuck? The staff that has been there for 9 years is because they suck up to the corporate big wigs and thier profit based policies.
Best thing anyone can do is try more to support local bussiness before they go under! Supermarkets R pretty much somewhere along the line run by our goverments, its painfully obvious they want to control everything we eat(but not for the good)
We are in BAD times and alot of shops are going to suffer from this & alot will go under.
Try make that extra bit of time to go local
Supermarkets can be cheaper but not always quality as we might want to beleave.
I like your idea of finding local businesses, and oddly as I sit and think, I don't know one - not a one, perhaps a local bakery, that's it. I have to depend on farmer's markets in the summer only and they are far and few between.
Yeah i no what your saying, not everyone has this option anymore as the supermarkets have done there damage, its a shame really.
Ive not been to any famers markets yet but i cant wait to this summer!
I think over time alot more people will see change that they dont like, and that will bring them to think alot more of what it used to be like shopping at local shops with more friendy service at the counter from someone who remebers who you are and has a good chat. as oppose to a selfserve Robot ;)
I have just finished watching this entire series... all I can say is "awesome" information. Something everyone should watch.... BE INFORMED..... BE AWARE... open you eyes and ears.... we are the guinea pigs.
I've seen out-of-date baby formula at the Moffett Field Commissary, where I work. Just last week, I found one can that was over a year past its expiration date. I pulled it immediately and marked the can as expired.
I'm not going to go out on a limb to defend upper management, or a company that I no longer work for. We had a high turnover and when our staff left, nine times out of 10, I wasnt allowed to get a replacement. Store management just told me to use multi-skilled staff from other departments when I needed them. The trouble was that all departments were all over stretched.
All my staff were great and coped well considering that they had a lot to do unsupported. Even part timers and students.
No its not the staff's fault; the whole idea of the supermarket is wrong. The supermarket "culture".
Small independent butchers, bakers etc take pride in their business, its their vocation, and they have exceptional knowledge on their produce. They offer fantastic customer service and are friendly because it is their whole livelihood.
What is motivating a teenage student to offer customer service on a Sunday morning when he probably knows very little about what he is doing and selling?

Its not the supermarkets fault, just bad staff.
Goolz 3 years ago
not bad staff, over stretched staff. Budgets are getting smaller and the expectation of what can be done gets bigger.
Do the work of three people by yourself one week, you'll find you will have to do it every week.

Excuse me my staff at my store take oride in there job, go fuck off.
Goolz 3 years ago
OK, you're either being sarcastic to prove my point which is funny! lol
OR you are serious. In which case you kind of prove my point as well- you are clearly quite angry, maybe stifled by crappy supermarket job?
And why say in your first comment that you have "bad staff" and then reply to me saying your staff take pride in their job? Which is it?

moral of the story? Don't buy own Supermarket cheap own brands.
