@megamanpwn3dmario I really think those two get a bad rap just for the head issue, there are such worse G1 toys... but yes, all G1 toys, because of their age and limited engineering it's impossible to fairly judge them by today's standards, to do so would come off like I'm just picking on an old toy.

Umm...was Hot Shot ever supposed to look like a Toyota FJ Cruiser? Cuz that's pretty much what we're left with here. I think the FJ Cruiser looks like a steaming turd...and well...so does this toy.

Great review, TJ! Very enjoyable. I personally think Supreme Cheetor is still worse than this. At least BTS Hot Shot can stand upright. He is pretty terrible all-round though, so I do say they're very close.
I think all BTR transformers looked terrible! I mean, even Cybertron Demolisher looks better than this despite being the 3rd repaint in a row and having his mini-con, Blackout, replaced with a powerlinx cyber key! Is that as crazy as it sounds? *notices Blackout getting smashed by Ryugen* pretty much.
@Bsword640 He didn't have a Universe 1 toy. Only thing left named Hot Shot that I didn't touch was the Spychanger and it has nothing to do with the character.
Kre-o is a major improvement. Yeah you still have to take them apart and rearrange the pieces to change modes but at least they look cool in both modes.

I think the Transformers RPM's ( really pathetic machines ) are the worst. you stand them up it's a bot you knock them over it a vehicle and thats it.
@korg13 Considering they're meant to be Hot Wheels-style toys that's not really a bad thing. The robot underneath is just to identify the toy, the point is to have Transformers cars and vehicles that work on your Hot Wheels tracks.
There's no reason to not expect Hot Shot being pregnant at least once when you have his buddy Jolt frequently humping him on the butt during Armada...
Best standing Jolt so far, also I shudder saying this but I have been "gifted" with btr smokescreen and demolishor... Demo.....isn't totally terrible...*fights bile building up from typing that*
For the Universe Hot shot mold, the back kibble detaches and actually becomes some sort of gloves that peg onto the forearm. This is documented in TFCC Dion... not sure if it works on hot shot though... :|
O.O mother of Primus . I never thought id see a worse version of Hot shot than the Armada figure. but i have. only saving grace there is no reason to plug Jolt into Hotshot's Butt.
I was thinking, even though I love RotF Side Swipe and still like DotM Side Swipe in the movie, the DotM toy suffers from an utter lack of proper paint apps, feet that don't even really help him stand, and his vehicle mode barely holds together. If you don't already have him can I send you mine because the only way I'm going to enjoy this figure is watching you make fun of it.
@RialVestro I actually just got him last week and I actually really like the figure. I agree he's woefully unpainted but mine holds together in vehicle mode fine and compared to the previous two Sideswipes I find him far improved.

Maybe this is just a quality issue on my figure then because his parts are actually quite loose and his vehicle mode, especially the side panels that make his swords, fall apart with barely any effort. I have to actually hold the panels in place myself because the tabs do not hold them in place at all. If it was actually painted silver and tabs actually worked there really wouldn't be anything wrong with him.

@zilvertron There already have been some Tracks repaints that are far better than anything I could do. I don't think there have been any with the DotM mold but I haven't looked for it. I have seen quite a few with the RotF versions of him.

See, this is the problem with these so called "lego" transformers that are "official from hasbro"; they dont actually transform properly! However its this lack of creativity that keeps people like me in success on youtube, which is also quite sad. We (typically kids) can make actual transformers out of lego pieces properly, a feat that PAID, PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS cant seem to work out.
@LegendarySilverWolf The larger Kre-o's look better than this, I have the large Optimus(TJ's fault) and Sentinel and Starscream(he is huge) and my only complaint is having too choose what form I want them in most of the time. They do have extra parts yes but using imagination they can be used for other things. But yeah this is not even close to Kre-o that with the ones I have so far are better quality and worth the price
@CYNow8824 Oops, left out the last part of my comment. G1 transform able Lego transformers. And they are possible on LDD which you seem to have. (I built some). But, very tricky as it is a very... annoying program at times.
I actually THREW MINE AWAY about 5 months ago. I was organizing my Lego collection (a huge task) and I decided to just trash my BTR stuff. And, I really don't like Kre-O. I agree that it is a huge improvement over BTR, it still lacks in many ways. Oh and TJ, love the LDD screenshot. Here. I know you won't bother to look him up, but I think you would be impressed by a user by the name of boyzwiththemosttoyz here on YouTube. (Im not being paid, just a huge fan)
I love how on BTR Thundercracker you say it would be better to leave the head off, but on this one you say it's better to have it on.

Great review, TJ! Very enjoyable. I personally think Supreme Cheetor is still worse than this. At least BTS Hot Shot can stand upright. He is pretty terrible all-round though, so I do say they're very close.

I think all BTR transformers looked terrible! I mean, even Cybertron Demolisher looks better than this despite being the 3rd repaint in a row and having his mini-con, Blackout, replaced with a powerlinx cyber key! Is that as crazy as it sounds? *notices Blackout getting smashed by Ryugen* pretty much.

Kre-o is a major improvement. Yeah you still have to take them apart and rearrange the pieces to change modes but at least they look cool in both modes.

I think the Transformers RPM's ( really pathetic machines ) are the worst. you stand them up it's a bot you knock them over it a vehicle and thats it.

@korg13 Considering they're meant to be Hot Wheels-style toys that's not really a bad thing. The robot underneath is just to identify the toy, the point is to have Transformers cars and vehicles that work on your Hot Wheels tracks.

For the Universe Hot shot mold, the back kibble detaches and actually becomes some sort of gloves that peg onto the forearm. This is documented in TFCC Dion... not sure if it works on hot shot though... :|

I was thinking, even though I love RotF Side Swipe and still like DotM Side Swipe in the movie, the DotM toy suffers from an utter lack of proper paint apps, feet that don't even really help him stand, and his vehicle mode barely holds together. If you don't already have him can I send you mine because the only way I'm going to enjoy this figure is watching you make fun of it.

@RialVestro I actually just got him last week and I actually really like the figure. I agree he's woefully unpainted but mine holds together in vehicle mode fine and compared to the previous two Sideswipes I find him far improved.

Maybe this is just a quality issue on my figure then because his parts are actually quite loose and his vehicle mode, especially the side panels that make his swords, fall apart with barely any effort. I have to actually hold the panels in place myself because the tabs do not hold them in place at all. If it was actually painted silver and tabs actually worked there really wouldn't be anything wrong with him.

Since you dont like him, could you use him as a sacrifice figure and paint him in Tracks colors and put the result up on the tube, cause i just cant stop seing him as tracks and if it looks bad, then no swet just blow or shoot the darn thing up to smithereens

@zilvertron There already have been some Tracks repaints that are far better than anything I could do. I don't think there have been any with the DotM mold but I haven't looked for it. I have seen quite a few with the RotF versions of him.

See, this is the problem with these so called "lego" transformers that are "official from hasbro"; they dont actually transform properly! However its this lack of creativity that keeps people like me in success on youtube, which is also quite sad. We (typically kids) can make actual transformers out of lego pieces properly, a feat that PAID, PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS cant seem to work out.

@LegendarySilverWolf The larger Kre-o's look better than this, I have the large Optimus(TJ's fault) and Sentinel and Starscream(he is huge) and my only complaint is having too choose what form I want them in most of the time. They do have extra parts yes but using imagination they can be used for other things. But yeah this is not even close to Kre-o that with the ones I have so far are better quality and worth the price

I actually THREW MINE AWAY about 5 months ago. I was organizing my Lego collection (a huge task) and I decided to just trash my BTR stuff. And, I really don't like Kre-O. I agree that it is a huge improvement over BTR, it still lacks in many ways. Oh and TJ, love the LDD screenshot. Here. I know you won't bother to look him up, but I think you would be impressed by a user by the name of boyzwiththemosttoyz here on YouTube. (Im not being paid, just a huge fan)
