I didn't think that there was an MGM in 1916.Metro and Goldwyn were two separate studios until the mid-twenties.

Some of the lions have had bad experiences during their MGM logo video shoots. One of them even tore a cameraman's balls clean off. It was an awful sight. Bootleg videos of that awful maiming are available.
