  • If you wax the coil, don't you get rid of the audible resonating frequency?, it should damp it to the point where it can't resonate, me thinks. Wax is just a readily available example, you can use laquer or whatever works for you such as expoy, etc...

  • GBuler-- Maybe not micro amps but I'll take low millamps any day ---thats good enough me.

  • The bulb I think has to do with the geometric shape, similar to a "U" magnet allows for the magnetic polarities/energies to flow better and thus picks up more induction, because 2 sides of the bulb are closer together thus a net gain in energy compare to linear layouts.

    It's all about geometry and "extra pickup" from the two bulb sides being close.
