"The problems we inherited...", continue unemployment benefits, the key to job creation is interest rate cuts (not tax cuts), continuing benefits to the truly needy and that Americans are always concerned for their welfare, this man is more liberal than one would be led to believe by those who have built altars to Reagan using only their memory of him. This video goes against what most say he stood for. Nice that it exists. Humility is the virtue through which we grow as people, and a country.
oh my god.... what a man... where is our man nowadays? or woman for that matter "not as republicans or democrats, but americans" this guy was one of the only true serious presidents who didnt care what people thought about him. he was for AMERICAN ACCEPTIONALISM. thank you god for ronnie reagan, he staved off massive debt for 10 years... now in 2011 i weep as we see trillions in debt... :(
When are our current and future politicians going to get the hint and follow the word in both this speech and others made by our former president by following the path that was designed to bring us up and not down.
He spoke of "........But, quick fixes and artificial stimulants repeated applied over decades are what brought us to where we are now" Anyone see the parallels?!!!!
One of the Best Presidents, I think!

This is one President that I am proud to admit that I voted for him. I wish that there was someone just like him now.

Why did he say Mr President at the beginning?
jimmbo13 2 years ago
i dont think it started right at the begining of the state of the union. I think he might have said Vice President
Aonfreak 1 year ago
@jimmbo13 Probably Reagan meant George Bush in his function as President of the senate.

Wonderful points by Reagan, about the TRUE nature of the deficit, as well as his warnings of the national debt--which, tragically, have come true.
Note: McCain also proposed a spending freeze--and of course, it was denounced as "too extreme". *sigh*
I really love Reagan's proposal about school prayer. He was right on the money.
