  • Found this thanks to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy of all things.

  • have you ever seen a chinese window cleaner? i havent.

  • Good clean comedy with a nod and a wink to undercover smuttyness included ( how dare he mention cammy knickers on the air)...nobody todays understands it..him and Benny Hill where two of a kind...

  • lol, north england!

  • thbis is not as good as mr wu is an air riad warden now that is so much funny

  • @godznuts All the uke players think he's the best player but you know better because you like bland x-factor clone singers.

  • @godznuts I won't argue with you about his singing (although let's not forget, this is comedy) - but if you're questioning George Formby's uke playing skills then you've lost the plot - he is the greatest master of the uke ever to have lived and there's plenty of footage to prove it.

  • @mkcwebmaster the absolute master!

  • @mkcwebmaster I don't know about that. Ever hear of Roy Smeck?

  • @superjules The Wizard of the Strings

  • @superjules How many movies did Roy Smeck star in?

  • @godznuts

    Oh Hai Troll.

    Alas.

The style of playing is pretty damn hard to get right, i've been self taught three year' and i'm still improving on it, so before you say "play like an amateur" I say, why don't you trying learning his style as good as this, or better, WITH IN a month, go on, I dare ya. Also, nowt wrong with his singing, people have different voices, thing is he voice may not "sound" the best of all, but heck he sings in key. TTFN.

  • @godznuts Formby was a comedy act. He didn't need a great voice. His charm was in his affable nature and his unrivaled skill on the Ukulele (as well as many double entendres which were risque for his era). Few people in the world have mastered the split-stroke and even fewer can reach Formby's level, his solo's are the stuff of legend in Ukulele circles. Some Ukulele circles in th UK get fed up with being linked to him just because of the Ukulele but none question his skills.

  • @godznuts

Oh my God, he doesn't suck! If you don't like George, don't listen to him. No-one's making you. But you're missing out.

  • LOL @ 1:21 . I wasn't expecting that.

  • his mimics me think of the lololo man.

  • This Mr Wu couldn't hold down a bloody permanent job. First he owns a laundry, then he's a window cleaner and later he becomes an air raid warden.

Work shy Wu's what used to call him.

    GEORGE WAS A GENIUS!

  • it's impossible not to like george formby.

  • 3 people disapprove of clean windows.

  • Floss ferry racist my arse

  • Yea!! 100 thumb up!!

  • george Formby is england greatest

  • Somebody should sing a song about Mr Hu too.

  • LEGEND!

  • do i get the job ? well your not bad and i want somebody at once, i will give you 20 pound a week. how much !? fine i will give you 25. 25 ?! well i cant give you anymore, take it or leave it ! no no i will take it! haha love that

  • oh...he mostly certainly could play the ukulele!!!!! George was at his best in these days. He inspired a battle beaten public (London and the cities we bombed on a monthly basis) to look towards happier times. Thankfully they came. This music is happy 70 years later.

  • love this song and the film too

  • LOL. So racist!

  • @Flossferry i what way?

  • Makes you proud to British. Bravo.Bravo

  • This is so lacist.

  • @PilesDriver how is it?

  • play on bro, and my you live on forever.

  • Spike Milligan's revisitation of this song in the 'Hitler Sings' sketch is just hilarious... pure genius... (can't post the link though, it won't let me...)

  • ♥ .

  • Ol' George really knew how to swing! If he'd been any cooler, he'd have been frozen. Too bad Mr Wu lost his dry cleaning business....heard it was taken over by the Wong Brothers...love their slogan: TWO WONGS CAN MAKE IT WHITE !!!

  • The man who punched Hitler !

  • there is a ukulele of George Formby in ebay

  • Please check out my George Formby drum and bass remix on my channel - George Formy still making and Impact in 2010!

  • acha ka cha ka chacahcahcah

  • one of the best

  • hes buried in warringtons cemetry with a big stage as his grave stone he was real good

  • George formby = legend

  • @firevorm yES!! u R SOOOO RIGHT!!

  • yeah, cami knicks, also known as french knickers... womens boxer shorts basically ...to avoid panty lines.

  • What are gammy knicks? I'm in the states and just discovered this wonderful perfomer.

  • Gammy is a slang word with several meanings. I usually take the word as meaning mouldy or rotten or "yucky" but I can't think how that meaning could apply here. Knicks are knickers of course (in those days, probably big bloomers) - or panties as our American friends call them.

  • @mkcwebmaster technically that would make them gammy knicks then eh! Rotten, yucky knickers ....

  • OK, I've checked up. It's not gammy (haha, that was ringobingodingo being daft! [earlier comment]). It's "cammie", which is a type of fabric I think.

  • cami knicks are french knickers i should know i'm wearing them!!!

  • It's CAMMY kmickers, short for Camisole look it up!

  • @davidatownsend - I looked it up. it's spelled CAMI (according to Wikipedea).

  • @davidatownsend dont have to look it up if you just told us then eh?

  • @jokersexclusive0 Short for camisole, from the 30's (about).

  • @jokersexclusive0 theyre just like womens boxer-shorts, but with frills

  • there is just something about forby's smile that i cant help smiling about

  • Can you play the UKE????

  • why yes... yes i can :)

  • ahh this face!

  • legend!

  • Superb!

  • he wears a pair of gammy knicks (hahah) to save his sunday trousers cus mr wu's a window cleaner now >>.. soo funny... he tries really hard not to laugh :) a lovely uke!

  • love it

  • brilliant song, but formby is incrediably dirty minded

  • Yep. Brilliant isn't he!

  • George Formby - may his music live on forever. He is a legend not to be forgotten.

  • Ya gotta love those teeth.

I know his music was probably meant to keep people smiling through the war but I find it works fine for any bad day. I mean, Jerry hasn't bombed my house recently, but I still need this.

  • @Sesquipedaliantique hAHAH!! Good comment!!

  • Disgraceful !! Promotes racial stereotypes !!

  • I know, very un-PC!

  • :o) Sorry. Just joking.

  • I know so was I ;)

  • Shut up people like you have ruined this country!

  • I guess I have, people like me who speak with tongue in cheek should be sent back to their own country. I think . . . . . .

  • Yeah sorry i didnt see your other comment its just people who say things like that piss me off.

  • without a doubt george formby was a complete mastro off the ukelele and and genuine naturla performer , they wont another =( 60 years on hes still rememberd not bad for a guy from wigan hehe
