  • can you do an experiment with this magnet and your mercury?

  • Very pretty :)

  • Search for "ferrofluid sculpture" on YouTube if you want to see more awesome ferrofluid action.

  • Wery nice.

  • Kind of reminds me of a jellyfish moving through the water.

  • Great job man keep it up, your videos are just so cool!!!

  • You will find small amounts of ferrofluid in old hard disc drives. It is used in the bearings of the motor spinning the discs there. After removing the shaft you can easily harvest it with a strong magnet wrapped in plastic foil. (This helps to remove the fluid from the magnet afterwards)

  • cooooool, wo bekommt man ferrofluid?? oder ist es moglich es selbst herzustellem?

  • curiosity killed the cat

  • Once again, as soon as i make it across that big-ass ocean i am buying you some dinner and your going to reject my romantic advances to my face. Its a day i look forward to. getting turned down by someone like you would be a high-point in my life.

  • once again though, as soon as i make it across that big-ass ocean i'm buying you some dinner and your going to reject my romantic advances to my face. Its a day i look forward to. getting turned down by someone like you would be a high-point in my life.

  • seen alot of this before, what is the liquid these particles are suspended in, you mention it "drys out" could these microparticles not be suspended in a high viscosity oil to combat this problem, or in a water based media that could be "maintained' with some sort of hydration system, like a sponge soaked in water, or if it was used is a constant circulation system low quantity water mix, like the drip function of an IV bag?

  • you mentioned the ferrofluid is used in loud speakers in what part ?

  • @Ralphgtx280

in the inner bit, near the voice coil.

  • maybe you can put subtitle

  • I would be interested to see if you can spray ferro-fluid into the air near the magnet and see, by high-speed camera, if the droplets follow the field lines as they fall. Perhaps that can show the lines as if suspended in the air.

  • @fegolem it may have to be a fine mist....

  • @fegolem ... in air or vacuum ... ?

  • @fegolem that would be something to see, i have a friend with some good video equipment, and i happen to have a 3awg x 600 wind magnet that would be perfect for a few seconds of video.

  • @fegolem

wow, that'd make one hell of a mess. i'd not try that at home, lol.

  • I hate to suggest videos, but is Mercury magnetic?

  • Comment removed

  • @glaxko2

    no, it's not. sadly.

  • Magnetic fields.... Nothing is real....

  • science never been that boring before!? some peoples are made for science other for video presentation. please find someone to help you , unless you like to keep people thinking that science is boring. cause it's not!

  • I always love to see that stuff, very beautiful!

  • yes what if u drank dat stuff

  • another nice vid, TY.

  • Where did you get the liquid?

  • @bamboo4tameshigiri Or fluid suspension(?). I've taken apart a lot of speakers and never found any with fluid in them.

  • @bamboo4tameshigiri Ferrofluid is only used in certain high-end tweeters. The specifications of the speakers will almost always say "ferrofluid-cooled tweeters" if any is actually present. Getting the fluid OUT of the tweeter is another matter entirely, as the magnet loves to hold on to the fluid, and you can't exactly switch it off.

  • @Orcinus24x5 So what would be the cheapest way to obtain some of this stuff? Looks like a cool toy.

  • @Orcinus24x5 Figures.

  • @Orcinus24x5

just use a much stronger magnet wrapped up in foil... that should steal it from the speaker (and makes it easy to remove).

  • @Orcinus24x5 You can use an electromagnet thats stronger to get the Ferrofluid, the beauty of that is that you can just turn off the electromagnet when your done.

  • what happens if u drank that shit

  • why cant you just be my science teacher

  • that's really cool. why does it spread out the stain, but not recollect the iron? or is there another component?

  • You can also make a ferrofluid with printer toner and mineral oil... :)

  • ....0:55 are you recommending a 30kg magnet? or is that a slip of the tongue?

Not that I have anything against 30kg magnets, I just happen to think they are a bit bulky, and the cars next door always move 3 inches closer over night.

  • @hiphopguy0 a magnet that can pick up 30kg not that weighs 30kg

  • @hiphopguy0

one that can carry the weight of around 30 kilograms, not one that weights 30 kilograms.

  • @bionerd23 Thank you for the clarification. Continue the good work.

  • @bionerd23 lol i can imagine some blonde going near a 30kg magnet wearing a tongue ring xD

  • @killer2611

piercing rings are usually made from titanium, which is not magnetic. you can even put that into an MRI without being ripped to pieces. :)

e.g. there are special ekg electrodes used in MRIs - they're also made from / with titanium.

  • awesome... FLUX!!

  • When I read supermagnet I was thinking of super cooler superconductive magnets :)) anyway great video :D

  • YAY SHES BACK WITH VIDEO'S :D
