I used a very early version of this software when I was about 12 years old.
Bryce is frustrating most of the time. With Bryce sky, terrain and sea can me made easliy but other than that it's a quite weak compared to other 3D softwares in the market.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to use Bryce.
If you can afford use Maya or 3ds Max. If you don't have any money to spend on 3D software use Blender.
Blender is free and as powerful as Autodesk's softwares.
wow nice :) only sad thing is that ppl dont appreciate that kind of work, and dont see time and effort put in this, some shitty videos have many times more views....sad...
Dude is a tard for sure, for 98 this is extremely complex, we're talking the same time frame as Duke Nukem 3D, GTA I PC, this is the way back machine, and for the time that looks fantastic, I always loved ot mess around with Bryce, creating a world, a scene, be it Sim City or a model... is always enjoyable to the creatively inclined.
Simple no frills piece, but I tell you what... It works! What makes this one of my favorite Bryce animations is the meshing of a cool sound track with nice flowing camera work which pulls you in from outer space down to the final frame.
BTW II. This stuff is 10 years old my friend... We managed to pull it off in 3 weeks and I bought 10x the newest apple G3 500Mhz computers worth $40.000 to render it. Have a nice day. Go play. OWNED. Sorry for being rude here but your comment deserved that. IMHO.
BTW. TatsuAlchemy13. It "was" a 90ties attempt. To be precise March 1998 for a CeBit demo for MetaCreations. And if you had any idea what you´re talking about, you would know that this animation, with that application, by that time, was friggin complex. Nowadays I work with C4d10 and 3DMax9 and I´m into "professional" postproduction. Go "work" 3D and postproduction business for a few years and look at it again.
um....this is not complex at all....it looks like some low end early 1995 attempt at 3d....there is a lot more to 3d that reflections and refractions. your textures need loooooooooots of work and just the structure itself is lacking. i use maya 2008 btw, and bryce seems like some 3rd party software. not to be mean, but show this to a proffesional and they will laugh in your face....im not even on a proffesional lvl but ive been studying 3d for 2 years at school. you need lots of work man.
@TatsuAlchemy13 I realize your comment is 2 years old but for what its worth, if you showed this to a pro he would know exactally what Bryce was along with Adobe dimensions etc.
Hahah... That goes back a decade already and it still looks good for Bryce. I got started on 3D with Bryce in it's early Corel days (where it then languished unfortunately) and now it belongs to Daz3D. I wonder how long that took to render (a month or two maybe?) As for now, I'm just too impatient with rendertimes and moved to Carrara. But even that is taking too long. (I know I'd start a small renderfarm if I could ever get the money.)

For 1998... it is is a bit complex... Rendering alone was a huge chore. But today's standards it is simple. But it was cool...
