Ahh I just recently found out about the West End Girls. So I decided, to make this fair, to listen to every original song I've heard the West End Girls redo. And in all honesty, I love the West End Girls version waaaay better than Pet Shop Boys :) I'm not saying they aren't good, I just guess that they aren't my type of music. I like this electric style. Also, I love the creepy accent the girls have >.< (creepy in the best way possible)
When you adore the Petshop Boys as much as I do, you can appreciate a new perspective on the music. The gals who sing this are postively adorable and I applaud their effort to expose the music of the Petshop Boys to a younger generation.
This covers ok, but I just don't understand the point of covers bands? Why waste your energy redoing songs? It's one thing to record covers and original music, it's another to exist solely to exploit someone's work.
I´ve heard this several times in Sweden and it sounds more like a cover of Eighth Wonder, at least the chords, as well as the order of some lyrics. But they´re doing a great job and thanks a lot for the upload, m8!
Eighth Wonder (with beautiful Patsy Kensit on vocals) got the song from PSB who later in that year (1988) recorded the same song on their own album Introspective.
Ok. But still I wonder something: If I get it right this time, it would be like that WEG made their version as a cover of PSBs real original that is not represented on their Introspective album? It really sounds like Eighth Wonder´s version to me, though I know it´s originally written by PSB. I thought that the Introspective was the original, before Eighth Wonder´s version came out.
@Linkpin7 Who would be surprised? :) Since this song is NOT originally by the PSB, but indeed first performed by Patsy Kensit with Eighth Wonder :) (Though _written_ by the PSB guys, but that's another story.)
@pianoman74 so the song was written by Chris and Neil, but "is not originally by the PSB"?? ..... you must be a lawyer or something, LOL, cuz they are the best at contradicting themselves..... :D
@fisichella78 Lawyer? What? ... Nothing to "contradict" here, it's a clear fact. Nor is it too uncommon that two people write a song for another singer. but their own version comes out a bit later!
sounds a bit like tarzan boy Sound FX

Who sang the original actually? It was a woman too, but forgot her name.
grambi 10 months ago
@grambi Patsy Kensit, as "Eighth Wonder". Song composed by Pet Shop Boys, who made a cover also.

Although it's nowhere near as good as the version done by the PSB, on it's own, it's pretty decent.
I like the WEG cover of "Suburbia" to this one, though.
