  • Wack..and why arent they black???

  • this group was started by lynn clark in the late 70's i was lil nigga going to the talent shows in richmond

  • Thats how we get down in the Bay Area. We don't become people's sluts and get played like the cats that swarm to LA. Bay Area cats already have their own productions crews if they go LA. Bay Area cats dont run around trying to suck someone off for a deal. Support your local Bay Area crews. We know the best dancing in the world comes out of the Bay, theres too much history and pride that we are brought up on. Next time Bay Area cats go on a LA dance show, rep that SF or Oakland gear.

  • Astrons , Criminons it was goin down in Richmond back in the day!!!!Talent show at the auditorium Len Clark,Lil Ralph,Dana man ??????I remember Kool moe Dee doin go see the doctor at the talent show!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best move at 2:30. Nice step

  • small movements made with perfection are always the most effective.

  • that was siiiiick!

  • This is old school, this style has been around since the early 70s. Still enjoy watching this stuff, keep it up.

  • yo Medea Sirkas, Audionauts,Shiled inc all the bay style pop crews are freakin insane like the most prginal crews out there yet overlooked that pisses me off but good that theyre underground dont want any gay fads goin around

  • man this is the shit, hell yeah i remember richmond talent shows.the astrons.shields inc demons of the mind my homies.whats up dana/anybody remember the ufos from berkeley?

  • un fuckin believable!!

  • The music is Kraftwerk, not too many people are knowin how its done in the Bay Area, damn youngcommander I wish I got to see Criminon, Androids, the OGs told me about Shields inc. also. Just here lettin yall know that everybody is always stealing from the Bay and never giving us our props or love. We get our love from few LA and Sac town people and thats about it. 41510Brand Dr. Plik Plock is fucking sick as fuck, his young middle school kids he teaches would spank any adult crew in a battle.

  • the dicussions on here are very enjoyable. Thank you!

  • To me, the Bay group-style is100% unique. The synch stuff is still almost unseen. For solo shit, I think the bay is much different than LA The foundation is more hittin' and shields'n/bottin' whereas LA is a pop pattern. Bay looks more animated. However, Mr. Animation is from L.A. and his style is kinda reminicent of the Bay.

BTW, have any of you cats check the "flex" style outta brooklyn? Looks very similar to the way the Bay Boys got down, but the emphasis is heavy on floats and tutts.

  • I missed the 1st genration of Bay boogaloos, barely missed the Androids but caught Criminons, Ashtrons, etc. at the Richmond talent shows. And the Scottish Rite where Close' reappeared (and Shields Inc came outta no where).

  • what song is this?

  • This is original music created by the Audionauts for perfomances. In the early days the robot groups sped-up the tempo of songs (i.e.Krafwerk). Dr. Plik Plok has a CD of original music for sale on CD Baby. Big Juan has something up as well. I hope folks cop it from the originators rather than flooding the market with water-down reproductions.

  • Like DocLock says LA is 500-600 miles away from the Bay and back then there was nothing in between. Southern California was like going to another state. Clearly we're from the Bay, and in the 70s & 80s wasn't as much travel or communication with LA, far as we know.

Remember California is 75% of the west coast. Thats like Georgia to New Jersey or Texas to South Dakota.

Lets see if any LA Robotters will chime in.

  • what's the origon of the audionauts?

  • The Audionauts... from deep deep space...

no, j/k this is Richmond style group stepping.

  • @41510BRAND

in 79, i got to tag along with some of the folks from Dr Grave/Cemetary Slaves into Filmore projects at informal dance off, there were so many dancers not in groups back then that were amazing

i agree with a post here the simple smooth moves, slowed down was my favorite, i saw some of the most wild 3-D moves and people literally struttin everywhere they went, bus stops, crossing streets, walking in stores, wow

and this was a lifetime it seemed before east coast breaking came thru

  • hi, can you guys explain to me what's the difference of the bay area dance style from the L.A. style. thanks. :D

  • The bay is up in Northern California which is 500 miles from LA. The styles prevalent through the 70's were strutting, robot, stepping, hitting. Many were done in these type of syncronized routines. I can only speak of Bay styles having lived it back in that period. I'll let LA folks explain theirs. Peace!

  • If you are referring to the style performed by Dr. Plik Plok, there is no difference. He is a Bay Area native also he was a member of an original Bay Area robot group, 'Deamons of the Minds' or the 'Criminons'.

We believe his style is heavily influenced by San Francisco. Although each Bay Area City had its own style, including Richmond, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose.

We're not sure if LA was "robotting" or doing 3, 4, 5 man synchronized routines in the 70s & 80s.
