@Astelath well techincally if you put it in treble clef, bass clarinet can play it because in orchestras bass clarinets and cellos normally play the same music
Wow. This is so cool. I only know bass clarinet in bands, orchestras, (mahler, shostakovich, grofe, stravinsky) solo players (the italian guy, Klug, montanha, Bok, etc) and some jazz music but this is way extreme.... I love it!!!
Daughter is playing the BC in band. Thinking about buying one rather than renting it. Here's the problem(other than the cost of one): I HATE the sound of these things. I'm sure these guys are good at playing it but it still sounds horrible! Can someone point me to something that might change my mind? What musician do I need to listen to?
i have a bass clarinet, its an amazing thing, you may not like it but if that is what your daughter likes, buying it would make her very happy, like i said, its an amazing instrument
I hate my band teacher he says there is no music for a bass clarinet quartet and I can find like 20 videos of different quartets. We wanted to do a ensemble contest and he wouldn't let us.
Yeah, these guys are pretty righteous. It's really cool to know that there are people out there willing to get together and rock out on 'classical' instruments. As a BC player myself, these guys are really inspiring to me. Top-notch musicians, too.
Fantastic band,fantastic instrument and a new breath into the already established pieces for clarinets.
I thought that making music like this sound good on a clarinet was an impossibility, but you are the living proof that everything is possible. Just shows the great register of a Bass Clarinet. Keep up the great work! :)

the guys are insane, they make up notes and play in 3.5/4 time signature. they're CRAZY. crazy awesome
karatekween33 2 years ago
3.5/4 is more appropriately written as 7/8. there shouldn't be decimal points in a score, it's confusing.
arithilemn 2 years ago
@karatekween33 isn't that just 7/8 time?

Actually buying one in a few hours for her.
I've heard the likes of Michel Pilz, Marcus Miller and Eric Dolphy so I think I spoke too soon.

I LOVE the big Clarinets (Alto, Bass, Contra Alro, Contra Bass). Dark and warm sounding. These guys are AWESOME!!!!!! Thanks for posting!!

There's an even bigger one called an octocontrabass clarinet. But the only thing is that there's only one.
