@gillenpantera Without looking at the reference material - I believe that they averaged about 70-90 nights a year approx. 20 shows for spring/summer/fall tours plus a handful of extra shows in the bay area (Chinese New Year's, etc.), plus a few extra shows here and there (hear and there?). There were a few early years in which they played substantially more - 1970-71 they might have played 150+ shows.

@jw22345 It was wicked hot at these shows - as I recall, this was the year that the World Cup was played in the USA, and so the stadiums that they would normally have used for summer tour in June and July were already booked, and GD moved everything back a month or so. Vegas in late May = 90 degrees Farenheit - hot, but bearable. Vegas in late June = 100+ degrees farenheit -absolutely unbearable, if the boys hadn't been completely fired up as well. Vegas was the best.

That is for sure. Vince was a bad idea to start with...and it only got worse when he began to think he really was a member of the band and decided to sing those awful songs of his. I would cringe every time I heard him croak out "Way to Go Home".

Wasn't this the year Dave Matthews opened? I remember him commenting on how big the crowd was and asking the Dead if they could do Watch Tower. Awesome run of shows. And it was hotter than hell.

Very Nice...Remember it was 100 degrees in the shade...This was the hottest I had experienced temperatures on this earth at this point in my life.  I remember they had misters going on the floor....SO MUCH FUN!

I was there!!! Great show! I believe this was the year that "Drums" brought about a rain cloud with thunder and lightnin over the coliseum and then once the show started there was a huge rainbow!! And, nope, i wasnt on any acid, maybe MDMA??? One great show!!!!!!
