  • Malmsteen ist technically one of the best no doubt but if it comes to improvising or to write something interesting in your own he just sucks.

  • What is the name of this melody?

  • @IberiaSumergidaa ......Sarabande?

  • @EredLuin87 When I find "sarabande" in google, much results appear, but this song i cant find it, sorry my english.

  • That's that guitar?

  • @Sorgutentarer that my friend is an Ovation guitar, viper model (nylon strings)

  • ovation viper EA63..

  • Malmsteen - Pretentious cock and not THAT good either. The orchestra must have been embarrassed to do this. My heart goes out to them.

  • @LukeSkyscraper

Let's see you post something half as good. Man, look in the mirror-if you had half the skills of Malmsteen you'd be half the pretentious cock he is.

  • Respond to this video... Great video.

  • pleasant to listen to, why compare? just appreciate the difference...

  • I love the fact he is using a plectrum on a classical guitar, it gives it a very unique, plucky sound - I for one believe that it is up to the musician on what he or she wants the instrument to sound like and I find fingers and plectrums of different thicknesses give different tones and have their place on both electric and nylon guitars.

I think this is a really good piece

  • what kind of headstock is that

  • yngwie malmsteen restera le guitariste le plus inventif,c'est aussi un violoncelliste et un passionné de musique classique, cet album avec un orchestre symphonique est superbe.

    Viens en France YNGWIE

  • It's impossible for Malmsteen to slow down. How many licks does it take Malmsteen to get to the center of a Douchebag pop? Three.

  • amazing . . .

  • pam pam pam peewwmm

  • if ur gonna play it like an electric - just play an electric

  • 43 dislikes from he who shall not be named.................. justin bieber? no voldermord.... faceplant

  • Whence the name Yngwie?

  • i like malmsteen, but nylon strings are not to be played like that.

  • its an ovation with nylon strings.ovations sound poppy and crappy like that at times.it might even have a piezo pickup which might do that.

  • i dont know why there are dislikers in this video, i dont know why people are arging about his playing style. And i gonna get some popcorn,

  • *INSERT SAMUEL L JACKSON VOICE* "I'm not poppin' corn! That's how I pick!"

Seriously, though. Tone is subjective. Homeboy's got skills...

  • staccato is all about matter of preference...

  • the more interesting thing as the pick noise debate is, that this is no way a Sarabande....

  • The "popping" or "hard picking" sound that you're hearing is most likely due to a compression pedal or something like that. They tend to change the tone too much.

  • What a pretentious cock, everyone of the violin players in the background would play this better .

  • Beautiful, but I really hate that intense picking. I think a classical guitar with no mod would be just great.

Just people don't argue with me its my opinion. I still love these piece of art.

  • i think the reason why he's picking so hard is because he has that massive orchestra behind him and he's tryin to play a little louder than them so he can hear himself haha but thats just me guessing

  • classical guitars aren't meant to be played with picks, but still liked it

  • What the heck, guys?! The popping sound is GREAT, I love it!

  • I wish his guitar had a natural classical guitar sound, this is more popping than actual tone. The playing itself was brilliant

  • I'm surprised that he uses that piece of poop guitar. There are so many hand built full body rich sounding classical acoustic guitars that sound so rich and full. This thin body, graphite thing with no sound hole just sounds dead. Caca.

  • @faithandpractice Pretty rude comment but would you tell him in real life the same thing as you post it here. And also a very critique christian. He is living big time and you comment about him and his choices.

  • @iMihaiCiprian You make it sound like I'm criticizing 'who he is' as a person. Heck everyone that knows me knows that I'm a HUGE YM Fan. Saw him front row center stave in 88. Amazing. I was just making an objective comment about his gear. Relax friend. Don't make it more than it is. "would you tell him in real life the same thing as you post it here" I absolutely would.

  • @faithandpractice thats because its not necissarily a classical guitar... if you look @0:36 as it zooms out from the guitar, under the gold piece on the top that you see is where the sound holes are, its a resonating guitar, not classical.

  • @davidjo15 It's true what your saying about the sound holes. In addition the guitar has a graphite back and sides. The same idea as the ovation guitars (it may very well be an ovation). The combination of the two makes an inferior sounding guitar (at least to my ear). Mad props to YM though. One of my favorites.

  • @faithandpractice perhaps he was looking for that specific sound to try and blend his guitar more into the other musicians in the room.. if you think about it why would a musician whose had years and years of experience and so many guitars use one like that without a purpose? Yes there are many full rich sounding guitars out there but maybe he chose this one for its chimey sound.. and the inferior sound could be recording quality too, who knows for sure.

  • This is my idea of music, it just pwns!

  • Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This is a completely pointless circus sideshow. Nylon stringed acoustic-electric "guitar-on-a -stick", played with a pick... no dynamics or musicality whatsoever - just hammer it as loud and as fast as possible headbanger-style. The attempts at "pinch harmonics" were especially comical. Sorry Yngwie - that doesn't work without the high gain distortion. I doubt a single person in that orchestra was impressed. Nice pinky rings though.

  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Orchestra. Sarabande Geura Sarare. Kah Kah Kah. ZZZzzzZZZ

  • haha there are 666 likes.

  • sonaria mucho mejor si no tocara con pua simple y llanamente

  • @kamesa66 wey q le quieres enseñar al maestro¡¡¡¡

  • the lead guitarist is awesome , wow Yngwie always a legend

  • why do this video have its dislike-rs .. awesome video specially when you are listening to it in the morning =P

  • it´s my favorite song " Sarabande by G.F Handel "

so impressive and super compisition !

  • cool

  • so sweet

  • Find d defects of Malmsteen when u have the quality to find defects.....

he is a legend...... And he has a unique quality dat a few ones really possess.....

  • @qsakif his greatest defect is that he does not push the envelope....it is one thing to have talent but it is a next thing to do something very unique with that talent...malmsteen rarely if ever strays in to the realm of strange and innovative...simply put he is too safe!!!

  • @qick07 This is unique... Replay the vid please. He's a metal guitarist, playing with an orchestra on a classical guitar, with a style that's quite unique and original.

  • @PODSpecial 1) he is not the first guitarist to play with an orchestra....2) his style has rarely ever strayed or differed from classical music...no one is saying he can't play and this is not amazing i'm saying he has never pushed beyond this unlike some of his counterparts who try to do new stuff like vai and satriani!!!

  • @qsakif well, one serious problem i find in him is his lack of care with guitars. not hating or anything, but i find that a serious problem. it's something i admire about greats like steve vai and rory gallagher that they're always careful with their instruments, even when doing extreme things.

  • @qsakif whats a grammar?

  • he looks like a pirate :D :D :D!! xDD

  • Comment removed

  • Is that a stand he is using for his guitarwhile he is playing? I love the sound of his acoustic guitar playing. Amazing talent!

  • the master¡¡

  • задрот и соло вапще не в тему

  • Mark Twain said of Richard Wagner, "his music is a lot better than it sounds", I think that's a pretty good description of this, guitar tone is awful.

  • popcorn sound

  • @Thetraveller04 That's because he plays with big picks ;)

  • how can anyone say he doesnt have feelings look at facial expressions he loves it!

  • @jakethesnake207 When an actor does certain facial expressions or cries when acting in let's say a "sad scene", does that mean he is actually sad? I don't think so. I kinda feel like this is more showing off than feeling. Also because he's f-ing headbanging in a kind of galloping, floaty piece. Makes no sense to me :') .. Also realise that the most sensitive and involved classical players often have a face like a rock. Does that mean they don't feel?

  • Although i think Yngwie is a massive talent, who , the sound is sort of horrible on the classical, maybe all the years of being on the rock treadmill have hurt his abilities, but even so to me he will always be a legend.

  • This sounds very good, but I think the nylon strings aren't doing it justice here. Steel string acoustic I think would sound a little better in this application.

  • muy buena tecnica la neta no conosco mucho a malmsteen pero me agrada mucho la forma y el estilo que toca con la orquesta

  • sombody knows the song name??

  • @Ander1405 Ummm is on the title.

It's called Sarabande, all this concerto is superb. Highly recommended

  • @gunnerslash

    Thanks dude

  • When I get high i watch this whole concerto and it blows my mind everytime.

Malsteen was so gifte with his magical powers on the guitar, and for that i live.

  • i dissapointed with this song :( i though he would play it without pick, but no... :( is just another song like the others, just without distortions and with a electroacoustic guitar...

  • This reminds me of pirates of the carribean... He looks like one to me! But seriously there is nothing wrong with the acoustic, it sounds great and it's his best acoustic song yet

  • Come on, he's not playing it in a traditional style. I have to admit though that this particular mix is not the best but it's Malmsteen and it's still great.

  • アコギの方が似合うな。

  • The sound of the pick on the strings adds to the percussive sound. I'm not a pick fan, I don't even use one for playing my electric.

  • @Musicartsandcoffee wrong ! they should mic the guitar and also conect that direct ,then mix both signal, t=hi guitar sound horrible muddy ...splash reverb ,,, that guitar should sound beautiful , like any classic guitar ..

    nice playing tech problems

  • Der Kerl hat einfach nicht alle Tassen.............

  • horrible

  • I want that ovation.

  • I can't find this song on youtube ):

Please help me. What should i write in the search box? Happy new year.

  • His playing is superb, his tone is terrible. Pace De Lucia can play this fast with his fingers and do it properly.

  • In your face japan!!!

  • is it just me or does the sound of a pick on nylon strings make others cringe like hearing fingernails on a chalk board, I've heard better tone on a color coded xylophone, I'll bet the orchestra went home afterward and took a boiling shower to remove the plastic residue coming from the nylon pick scraping nylon strings , respect to yngwie , it's not easy to masturbate in public without high watt appliances

  • I've never liked his acoustic guitar sound. Good piece though, I sometimes catch myself imagining a violin playing rather than a guitar.

  • Where i was all this f...k years, listening to shitty music.

  • wow what sex in my ears did I just experienced

  • Where i was all this f...k years, listening to shitty music.

  • FREAKED. OUT. MIND. BLOWN. Love THIS!!!!

  • Beautiful piece.........until the needless shredding, and not mention, the awful picking on the nylon strings.

  • que delicia... =D.

  • i don't think the problem is his guitar or the pick. i think he's picking too hard. i have the same problem when i play on a steel string acoustic. in fact a lot of guys who start on electric guitars and play with picks have the same issue. if he just softened his attack it would sound worlds better.

  • @zdkezios the problem isn't that he is picking too hard, its the fact that he is picking at all. If you play with a pick on a nylon string guitar you'll get that weird sound that he is getting. If he had played with his nails (with the proper technique of course) it would produce a lot better tone... although that guitar doesn't look like it would produce very good tone at all anyway, at least it looks cool.

  • @commetsmasher

It's Ovation Guitar - One of the best Acustic Guitars.

  • @cieplakupka Thats interesting... because there are three things about that guitar that I can tell kill the sound just by looking at it

    1. the cutout, think of the body as an amp. the bigger it is, the louder it is. cutouts on acoustics may make it easier to play and in this circumstance it is acceptable because Malmsteen loves to play those high notes, but they still kill sound production.

    2. the curved back, for the same reason as the cutout

    3. the sound hole idonthaveenough room to explain :(

  • @commetsmasher I love the sound of the ovation. The snap is deliberate, not a mistake or a building defect.

  • @NeufilmsInc You get that when you use a pick on nylon strings, but yeah, this sounds like it's a little bit more than just the pick... Is he using a special technique?

  • @MrBroodjewarmvlees I'm reasonably sure it's a culmination of four factors 1) The Ovation Celebrity model guitar 2) The nylon strings (of course) 3) the pick (any classically trained guitarist would kill him for that one lol) and 4) the way he attacks the strings (he does this on the electric too, It's why his songs have soooo much awesome crunch, but when he does it on the nylon, it makes a pop instead of a crunch). Some peoploe think it;s a mistake, but it isn't, and I happen to love it!

  • @NeufilmsInc its a very flexabile pick.. i think playing this song with a hard pick and also alternate picking to get the sound is just impossible..

on nylon guitars.. its wether you strum, play arpeggios or do it like he does.. theres no way out :) and to leave the sound to the orchestra too no?

  • @commetsmasher Nah. That's an Ovation Adamas - it has a composite top and they normally sound great. The cutaway has nothing to do with anything, the curved back is great, and the sound holes are where they do the most good. The guitar is just dandy - The problem is you have a rocker with one type of pick attack - "shred" Insensitive and unmusical. His attempts at pseudo-classical playing are frankly - a joke.

  • @zdkezios those are nylon strings

  • @zdkezios

there's no problem here. its supposed to sound like that. he palm muting every single note... it sounds awesome with a bit of twang to it

  • @zdkezios I think the fact that he plays on a nylon string is the problem, it really isn't made for a pick. I play classical guitar, and sometimes for fun i'll play stuff on it with a pick, and it takes a lot of effort to get a good tone out of it sometimes, and having a pickup would make the problem 10x worse.

  • @zdkezios

I don´t like the sound of a Ovation-plastic-guitar at all.

  • @zdkezios thats partly true but he also uses a boss cs2-compressor when ever he plays his nylon string guitars. That is why the guitar seems compressed and sounds "poppy" so to speak.

  • Comment removed

  • @zdkezios I agree, he don´t control the strengh of his picking. Spanish guitars are more for play directly with the fingers. I do not advise the pick.

  • @zdkezios Muwaha, that's not even a steel strung guitar, its nylon! LIKE YOUR MOTHERS UNDERPANTS!

  • Really,... sublime!

  • Sublime.

  • Where did the notes go? Guess they got eaten up by the plastic clicking sound.

  • that pick noise is fukin gross... sounds like toy guitar

  • 33 dislikes? Evidence of human devolution.

  • i cant believe people say malmsteen play with no emotion...you are crazy !! the shredder play with emotion too but they have fast too !

  • @YukiAirGuitar to play with fingers, or better with nails, is a totally different tecnique, used for classical, jazz and flamenco music, designed with the name of "classical guitar" . Malmsteen, like all the others rock and blues guitarists, play using the pick. This tecnique is called "rock guitar" or better "modern guitar".

  • can anyone tell me what classical guitar is this? like....brand and model...please,it's so beautiful x

  • @TheRuobi Just search ovation guitars you will find it quickly.

  • @TheRuobi it's an ovation guitar. i don't think his model is sold publicly though.

  • Just imagine if YM two hand tapped...

    The possibilities...

  • @snowbladetaki Tapping is pretty hard on nylon strings though...

But after all... Yngwie is a master, so why not? :P

  • @MrBroodjewarmvlees Van Halen does tons of that. Spanish Fly is a huuuuge one.

  • @snowbladetaki Michael Romeo.

  • Terrible tone, he could've used a nice classical guitar, but instead he went with an easier to play, and much much worst and dead sounding nylon electric.

  • Leave the compressor at home Yngwie.

  • shittt !!! qué pinche porkería, lástima de filarmónica !! :(

  • hahahahaha that's ridiculous, it's a carap. Kazuhito Yamashita kicks his ass.

  • @Mercurio2688 WIN.

  • Malmsteen

Play melody, do a quick pattern ascending do a quick pattern descending suck in your cheeks while playing, play some dim. arpeggios .

  • i actually really like the pick noise a lot. really adds to the tone in my opinion.

  • is it me or the guitar little bit small for yngwie???

  • @PassionOfGuitar Looks like a 3/4 size Guitar...or Maybe Yngwie is a Giant?

  • This is the only song by him I can stand.

  • if he plays recuerdos de la alhambra (no pick and 2nd guitarist, yngwie), then all the naysayers and dissers will definitely shut up...if he can, really

  • @s2p3r that's not fair, that is a classical piece most non-classical musicians haven't even heard of. Yngwie is inspired by the classics ,but has never called himself a classical guitarist; most of the mucis he loves is in fact violin, cello (which he can play) and piano/organ/harpsichord music. Guitar, not so much.

  • What I think is Malmsteen has climbed a mountain that hardly and only few new comers can even came close....

  • Comment removed

  • THIS MAKES ME THINK OF RAZOR BLADES

  • @yngwierhoads1989 ...Because it is sad.

  • The compression noise is like percussion, love what you hear!

  • this sounds amazing enough to be on like a video game sound track or movie i can imagine karazan from world of warcraft to this song mainly from the harpsichord

  • I just cannot stand the way Ovations sound. I used to own one, and it was the biggest piece of shit of a nylon guitar ever.

  • Steve Vai himself, said that Yngwie is a genius.

  • i cant find these acoustics anywhere? does anyone know the name or type he uses?

  • just horrible, so bad taste and vulgarity...

  • Very original. I like it very much. Thans you so much.

  • adorable! Spanish national culture enriched classical culture a lot.

  • The only reason it sounds so "picky" is because of the tone it's set to. It has to match with the rest of the orchestra or else it's just a guy doing a rock solo with a random back track.

  • @effyochicken

It may be the tone that plays a small role too, but the main reason it sounds so "picky" is beacuse of the compressor Yngwie uses now when playing gutstring guitar. Just compare the rendering of the first two albums gutsrings passages, and those who came after, it is really ovious. I really like Malmsteen a lot, but i never understood why he uses compression with classical guitar, when the dynamic of accoustics guitars are indeed the beauty of it ?

  • @genolafrite hes probably a really light picker

  • @effyochicken Actually, it's sounds 'picky' because Yngwie is palm muting the strings and picking close to the bridge which gives you a brighter tone (it's also easier to execute fast runs more cleanly if you somewhat mute the strings). Got little to nothing to do with the tone setting itself.

  • dont like guitar tone

  • qualcuno sa dirmi come si chiama o se possibile trovare un dvd o che sia ,il nome ....grazieeeeeee

  • @apippo740 Si tratta di un DVD uscito in Giappone chiamato Concerto Suite for EletricGuitar and Orchestra in E Flat Minor LIVE with the new Japan Philharmonic.Ciao.

  • como ecualizar una guitarra asi??? que tipo de compressor y que tipo de efectos tiene??

  • the sound of the pick on the strings is abominable

  • if malmsteen could play this piece with his fingers, i think that it would sound even better. the pick noise kinda screws the harmony

  • Yah, or if he cant do that he should play it on electric, but try to make the tone match an acoustic.

  • @YukiAirGuitar the guitar's pickup isn't helping either

  • @YukiAirGuitar

problem is that hes playing too close to the Piezo mic, trebles and mids are too high. Makes the pick more noticeable. Plus Ovations suck! Doesn't do him any justice. He's Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • @YukiAirGuitar that would be really interesting to hear if he played this with his fingers, but i like it with the pick too. i think it makes the guitar sound sort of like a classical harpsichord.

  • @YukiAirGuitar it's a celebrity ovation, not a true classical guitar. It's meant more for what he is doing, fast runs and picks sorry that's just the way this seemingly classical guitar works, if you look at them their fretboard is pretty much the same width as an electric. Why he didn't pick a true classical guitar instead is beyond me :/

  • @YukiAirGuitar It's not pick noise exactly, it's more that he runs through a compressor which heightens certain noises, even finger pickers make noise but Yngwie's compression is a bit heavy.

  • @YukiAirGuitar I like it. Reminds me of Di Meola.

  • @YukiAirGuitar ha thats exactly wat a was gonna rite lol

  • @YukiAirGuitar I am very sure Chris Broderick can do that ; Yngwie;s hands are way too big for finger picking :P

  • @SantomPh broderick is awesome

  • @YukiAirGuitar A big part of what hes doing will result in that "pick noise". No one can play the guitar aswell as Malmsteen, what he's playing here on a nylon string accoustic, almost no other guitarist in the world could play on an electric! So , enjoy the sound of a pick hitting nylon strings at a rate they dont normally get hit! This guy is the best, enjoy the new experience of realising that ;)

  • @TheGusto69 "No one can play the guitar aswell as Malmsteen"

Oooookay, who are you to say he's better than JP or Steve Howe? I thought the whole "my daddy's the best in the world" thing is old, even to youtube trolls' standards. I'd recommend that you watch some videos of Paco de Lucia, he's been hitting nylon strings at ridiculous speeds long before Yngwei was even born.

  • @TheGusto69 Oh, and did anyone mention that his COMPRESSOR EXAGGERATES THE PICKING NOISE? You get that noise (very slightly, really have to play fast and pay real close attention) even when you pluck fast with fingers.
