I caught Shihad for the first time in 1996 and I've never looked back. I've seen them almost 20 times, and every single damn time they've torn the roof off. Unbelievably tight, loud and talented group. Can't wait to see them in Newcastle in February. I salute you!

Unfortunately the Aus rock scene has died off in the last few years so hardly anyone in Aus knows good rock.

Mid 90s produced some great live acts like Frenzal, Jebediah, Something for Kate, Powderfinger and Shihad.

Nowadays the live bands are dance/techno hybrids.

I'll admit I do like some of them, but I really do miss the amount of Aussie/NZ rock being unearthed.

You really think Aus rock music scene is dead? The way I look at it, a lot of the older Aussie bands are winding down and we have a whole new generation that are producing some really great stuff. Bands like Grinspoon and Powderfinger and Silverchair aren't as good as they used to be. We've now got bands like Cog, Karnivool, Gyroscope, Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus etc... Go check them out and then let me know if you still think aussie rock is done and dusted..

Don't get me wrong, I love Butterfly Effect and Gyroscope.

I don't deny there are some good bands around, but as a whole the scene is not rock orientated anymore.

Gyroscope have had one song break the broader market in 3 albums, and Butterfly Effect have barely managed that (which I am really surprised about as I rate them highly).

The opportunities just aren't there anymore.

Like Killjoy is metal as, and this record Pacifier was a bit more mellow.

Then like shit The Gerenal Electric was well rocky but had a lot of electronica influences...
