the episodes (as allready stated by valve) are unique stories, but irrevertably linked to HL2 based on the ongoing story line

i think HL3 is going through depending on what happens in episode 3, who knows maybe the gman has new adventures on different planets

he did afterall say his "employers" made some interesting contracts from which hell make a choice

Well, Breen was obviously working with the Combine in HL2. Gman starts referring to talks he had with "them", the people who he was talking to during the Black Mesa incident, who I'm guessing are his superiors, who may very well be the Combine.

I always had a theory that you had been playing the "bad guy" since HL1, and that you would break free when the Combine double-cross Gman in episode 3. We'll see.
