  • Tembang akan kesedihan cinta...

  • It is astonishing how from birth the majority of us are raised within our cultures listening to a certain genre/style/type of music with idiosyncratic structures/rules and then when we experience music from other cultures around the world, our minds, being used to only our own culture's music, dismiss what we hear as not music, when it most definitely is. I'm just saying, I'm taking an ethnomusicology class, and it has opened my eyes to just how incredibly varied the music of the world is.

  • walah, ndadosaken lingsemipun sedoyo tiang jawi. awit sedoyo parogo pertelo sanes tiyang jawi,

  • This God's Chosen People culture really awesome.

  • I love all styles of Gamelan (Javanese, Bali [gong kebyar, Sunda) but I like Javanese the most. It's so ethereal.

  • @Chichiri520 definitely so... I remember so many lovely times in the Sultan's palace, Jogja, attending each morning's rehearsal. Magic...

  • Small typo, Asmaradana instead of Asmarandana, thank you. Excellent! Thank you.

  • i like it this my tunes, asmorodono = loving tunes

  • hebat banget...

  • I was a member of Marsudi Raras (1993-1994) and I remember that this (Asmaradana) was one of our favourite tunes. No rehearsal was complete without Ladrang Asmaranda, it seems. Francis (kenong) and I used to sing the gerong.

  • I love Indonesian, Javanese Gameland music. It sounds so magical!

  • Museum Nusantara, Delft, Netherlands. Unfortunately it seems we cannot play the gamelan for the next few months due to the renovation.

Kerja sangat bagus. Sepuluh jempol masih kurang.....

  • I'm Sundaneese, but Javaneese gamelan is incredible... Love to hear it both... thanks for posting...

  • wow,, senangnya liat gamelan bnyk dipelajarin ma orng indo.... lucu skaligus terharuuuu...hehhee

  • Dear all Javanese (Sedulur jowo) special from central java,

we have to proud with our traditional gamelan,, if we can go international and bring our traditional gamelan like this.... I believe 100% we can make save & peace, NO war, NO drug, NO weapon, Etc....

We can fly with our traditional gamelan... Monggo dipun Uri-uri kabudayan jowo.......

  • Very nice I totaly like it,

Bravo Marsudi Raras... your welcome in our country..

  • matur nuwun....

  • asung pamuji rahayu,,,,,,,,,,menawi manah taksih nandang bronto, sumonggo midangetaken gending meniko,,,NUWUN NUWUN MATUR SUWUN,,,saking putro KEBUMEN

  • bule aja demen gamelan, masa kita yg asli orang indonesia malah gak demen sama budaya sendiri....

  • absolutely beautiful. <3

  • gamelan emang musik yg penuh harmonisasi mari kita lestarikan musik gamaelan matur nuwun salam

  • setuju mas...

  • Wonderful. I am a Javanese gamelan player and I am aware of the subtle difficulties in playing harmonious gamelan especially the tricky instruments like kendang, gender and gambang. I am impressed how you guys can master the instruments. I miss the "Anjasmara arimami ..." in this clip. Thanks for posting.

  • i super love gamelan.

    i play saron demung.

hey isnt the first song PANGKUR?

  • yeah..pretty much love gamelan music

i play almost everything in it.

but really enjoy play "gambang" & "gendang"

    interesting history behind them.

  • hi sulat sampah

    hahaha

    im a gamelan player too

    i play the baron

  • Aku senang sekali mendengarkan musik gamelan ini, aku jadi ingat waktu aku masih tinggal di Yogyakarta, waktu itu aku sering main gamelan, dan aku pernah main gamelan di kraton yogyakarta, dan aku sering juga mengikuti lomba main gamelan, yg aku senengi yaitu: kebo giro dan asmarandana, pokok nya jangan lupakan musik kebudayaan kita yaitu gamelan.

  • its just another gamelan performance and all those malaysia vs. indonesia arguments flooding the video again. pathetic.

  • I agree, shame.

  • hayhay..

    im a gamelan player..

    n i play "kenong"

    =]

  • The irony is that I hear Javanese gamelan being performed for public more often when I am abroad than in Indonesia.

  • kalo gini aku jadi malu sama ke jawanan aku ...

mosok aku sing wong jowo mlh ora iso mainke gamelan

tapi yo syukur aku isih iso nyinden lagu jowo ra keytan mung campursari soale lagu jowo alus kuwi uangelllllllllll.............

  • Marilah kita Indonesian citizen utk sadar akan budaya kita sendiri, mari kita lestarikan dg memberikan motivasi kpd anak2 kita minimal mengenal gamelan.

  • This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i have ever heard and its sad to think that everyday we loose a little bit of this

  • in what way?

  • I'd say this is a pretty strong argument for it not being lost, pre-internet how many people do you think knew about this type of music. It was available to some extent as I know of a few groups like king crimson that have had some influence from this style of music, but I would argue that it is much more accessible now than before. I would be about four fewer in my number of compositions if not for the internet allowing me to really discover and experience this music.

  • because the american culture makes all the others feel inferior which is false. however because they feel inferior they feel like their music is also inferior so they try to model their music more like western music slowly loosing all of this

  • the world is a melting pot

  • kalian ini yg orang orang Pribumi masa nggak malu sih..(termasuk gw maksudnya)

masa kesenian kita yg mbawain orang Bule..

    malu dong..

tunjukkan dong ma Bule, bahwasanya kita juga masih perduli dgn kebudaya'an kita..

  • culture is meant to be assimilated because change is inevitable. so just stop saying that one culture is yours or not.the truth is, a culture ahs never been only one race's culture. WE SHARE. people get married with other people from different culture, and students go to different countries to study and so they bring back the culture there or indoctrinate their own culture to the place they study.

so stop being selfish and just be proud that you even have a culture.

  • @airtas007 as opposed to malays who doesn't have any? hehe.

Dayak, kamu juga sebahagian dari bangsa austronesia, saya tahu betapa bencinya kamu kepada kebanyakkan melayu as how they treated u in sarawak! Stop all this nonsense! Start to unite!

  • alahai.. asal usul melayu malaysia ni pun dr indonesia jugak .. so xsalah kn.. nt stealing bt sharing

  • I am malaysian. For me Malays is getting all those indonesian culture and remix it and call it as malay's. However we, the Dayaks do have our own culture shared with those indo from Kalimantan and always have deep respect for our counterpart from kalimantan and acknowledge that we are part of nomad group of natives who wonder around Borneo before the forming of a Nation.

  • Americans playing the gamelon in Javanese sytle. I like it.

  • Ehh... Dutch, not Americans.

  • Really, here in America there are universities that have the complete gamelon. I have been listen to them ever since I heard the gamelon in 1975.

  • wisemove1, he was got confused because you said Americans playing not Americans play.

  • Melayu ngan jawa satu bangsa laa, bangsa nusantara! yang korang duk gaduh2 tu buat hapa?

  • Malaysia don't have any original culture, IT IS TRUE, whole world knows about this!!

  • Indonesia is the biggest Moslem's in the world, also the first democratic country in Moslem's world. Malaysia? You people, always repressive to your people whom want to express/protest to your government policy. THE REAL HOOLIGANS Government in the world. What you can say??

  • WHY DOES MALAYSIA KEEP SAYING WE COPIED THEM! I seriously can't stand that. The language we speak was founded on the Island of Riau in Indonesia. Apaan sih kenapa harus bratam. Indonesia has its own culture period and so does Malaysia though not as diverse as us because of the lack of land and abundance of Immigrants.

  • hi ive lived in malaysia for 4 yrs n i can confirm the fact tht malaysia has the tendency to claim indonesian culture eg. the kebaya, the wayang, the gamelan etc,pls keep ur hands off of my country's culture just cuz u dont have any of ur own..im sorry but its getting a bit annoying u guys stealing our culture, while at the same time u shun the indonesians who work n help build ur country,n friggin PLEASE STOP calling us indons, don't forget tht almost every malaysian's ancestor is indonesian..

  • Malays assimilating stuff into their culture in itself is not a problem, but claiming them to be their very own is. It's not just stuff from Indonesia, but from Thailand and India as well. Most Malays on the street are under the impression that Tom Yam, Pakprit and Roti Canai are Malay delicacies but in fact are of Thai and Indian origin.

  • I don't really like this music, but it is pretty cool! I will see more about it in order to enjoy it.

  • Very beautiful music. I very much enjoy it!

  • remembering when you were young,

  • MANGSA ALLA!! iki wong bule kabe tah? rah main rek!! piye toh? sing nduwe tradisi kok reah gelem neruske. karepe globalisasi yo ojok lupa ambe' kulit toh yo. nek jowo yo jowo aye, rah usah karepe dadi bule. lah bule sing meriki aye karepe dadi jowo kok, lah kene sing uwes jowo rah gelem nerusno. wong mek nerusno kok, rah susah!! percoyo ambe' aku

  • tiyang bule nabuh gamelan tiyang jawi nge-rock lan nge-rap. kuwalike jaman. sae niki video ne. matur nuwun sanget.

  • Remen sanget nggih mirengaken Gamelan Jawi wonten in monco nagari (It is fun, isn't it, to listen to Javanese Gamelan while living in a foreign country = Senang sekali ya mendengarkan Gamelan Jawa sementara di luar negeri).

Hey,every body around the world who like gamelan, i want you share about your point of view of gamelan compare with other traditional instrument. Send your opinion to me.

    Thank You

    ~DQ~

  • you guys are effing awesome!!

  • good shit

  • A day without gamelan is like a day without oxygen. A bad day of gamelan is better than a good day working. :P

  • gamlan doesn't record well

  • You can get the higher quality sound files from our web site (Marsudi Raras). The main problem in recording was the museum setting of our 100-yr old gamelan, I have really good gamelan recording from others.

  • Can't you play it with no notasi? You would enjoy playing the music more. Hey, the rebab player is great though. Who is he?

  • That complitly great, I love it,I love it.

  • Gamelan Rockss

  • After having been on Java for almost 300 years, sure.

  • Can't believe those folks playing gamelan. Kewl,,,

  • what a beautiful sound! i love gamelan
