ive done some research on him and he gave his buisnes away in canada worth 6 million dollars and it went to college for 1000 students across the contry and i beleave that must be one of them in the pic you see with the scroll on the left
I'm kinda embarrassed to say that I didn't know Colonel Sanders was a real person... I thought he was just a marketing character like Cap'n Crunch. Whoops!
I call him a man of mystery he did alot of things in his life time before he became famouse for his chicken,,I found out that he piloted a staemboat ferry down the ohio river Im tryin to find more info on that,,if any one has any Idea where I can find out more on colonel sanders days of what year he was a steamboat pilot and how old he was when he did that,,I had herd that he had a steamboat company,,what happened to it,any pictures of pilot sanders at the wheel,,let me know
I've been here many times. My great-grandparents are buried right across the drive from the Colonel. You can see where they are, right around 1:52, down the hill behind the white statue. Thanks for sharing this!
I've been to this grave. There is a yellow line on the road from the entrance to the cemetery to Sander's gravesite, you can see it at 1:48 President Zachary Taylor is buried in another cemetery just across town.
We have. We visited Jack in 1997. We have photos on our website, but didn't take any video. We are headed back to Hollywood in January and may get a second chance then.
Yes, it involves a lot of different emotions. On a number of occasions we have arrived at old cemeteries at dusk and it is a very forboding feeling. Some of the graveyards have large, gothic tombstones where you can almost get lost. We were at the spot where Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash and supposedly his ghost and others haunted the ski lodge where he died. At night we walked the grounds and it was very eerie. But, it is also a very powerfully uplifting activity at times.
that would be Alpine Valley in East Troy Wisconsin ...the site of many lost grateful dead weekends and a motley crue video shoot (same ol' situation) for me
Maybe it's me, but I think KFC's gone downhill. I don't think the Colonel would approve. I still love me some hot wings though! The extra crispy line wasn't in very good taste but I'll excuse it.
He wasn't a real conolel but a "Kentucky colonel", an honorary title give to notable people. Others awared the title are Muhammed Ali, Tiger Woods, Winstron Churchill, Babe Ruth, Johnny Depp, John Glenn, Bob Hope, LBJ, Elvis, Pope John Paul II, Norman Schwarzkopf, Jeff Foxworthy, and Whoopi Goldberg.
I think you're asking "how do we know where they are buried?" We have a few sources we use, a couple of books and a website. Also, sometimes we have to research on our own by calling cemeteries.
Cool video. Would be interesting if you guys included some biographical info to the videos. Anyway you guys gotta make a trip up to Detroit sometime. I'd be more than happy to show you guys some notable grave sites. Just let me know a week or two in advance. I got the goods on gangsters, military figures, inventors, a few celebs, Motown musicians, etc.
We often include biographical information on the website. We try to make the videos so they are re-watchable. People would have to hear the same info over and over. Some of the more famous, everyone usually knows all the basics already. Hey, if we get to Michigan, we definitely will look you up.
"i'd like to see the colonel." "oh he dead i tell ya, he dead." "you mean i came all the way to kentucky to try this chicken and he ain't even working today!" "he dead i tell ya, he dead." no disrespect, love ya colonel.

So /when/ did he kick the bucket?

Very beautiful cemetery and the headstone and monuments of Col. Sanders are very nice and classy. Peaceful grounds, lots of tranquility. Serene.
But I still hate KFC food. Horrible stuff, stay away from it. Far away.

Col.Harland Sanders was a FreeMason and a good man. He helped many people.
he's a legend, just like Winston Churchill. Pity Churchill didn't leave a tasty legacy behind, probably would have been egg and bacon.....

Harlan Sanders actually did serve a hitch in the U.S. Army, but he was an enlisted man, and I would assume, a cook.
