  • One time in school a friend of mine was trying to buy a coke and the machine wouldn't take one of the quarters so he asked me if i had another quarter. So i gave him one. He handed the quarter the machine didn't take to me and said that quarter looks "FAKE". It was a silver quarter from 1964. I thought about telling him it was silver and worth more but decided not to.

  • What you need to do is explain to the supermarket manager that you want to sift through all their coins at the end of the day and pay dollars for all dimes pre 1963 .. and then he will say ... are you fuc#ing nuts

  • Now I've been searching everywhere on this information. I know halves and dollars from 65-70 contain 40% silver what I can't find out for sure is does the same go for quarters and dimes. I guess if they do sites like coinflation don't see them worth enough for mention. I don't know just trying to find out before I just roll them up with everything else.

  • @patrick258181

    check it out

coinmelt(dot)com you put the . were the dot is youtube wont let me post web addresses

    what ur coins are worth..

  • @patrick258181 There are no 40% quarters besides the bicentennial (1976) quarters that originally came in special sets. They have an S mint mark and weigh slightly different than regular clad qtrs. You will not find any in circulation. The only qtrs you should look for are pre 65', which are 90% silver. Also, not all dollars from 65-70 are 40%. Only some of the Ike's with a S mint mark, again, very uncommon in circulation. Check the edges of your coins for brown (clad). Buy a red book, much info

  • @patrick258181 There were no dimes ever made 40%. They are either 90% (pre 65') or no silver content at all (65'-present). I work at a coin shop, so let me know if you have any other questions. You can buy a Red Book at a book store and it will give you all the info you need too....

  • @BornTorn1977 Hey thank you a ton for clearing that up for me. Yea I should break down and pay the 12 bucks for a Red book. Almost every coin I've got since well my dad started a piggy bank when I was born and I'm 30 now. I know a little but never really paid attention because I saved them all any way. Now I have a lot. I want to sort and organize them. A lot of foreign coins too.

  • @paulypaulification what stolen proprty are you talking about?

  • @paulypaulification - I think you might have missed that he said he found these in the "rejected" slot in the coin machine, which implies that the original owner didn't want them.

  • i find silver coins in the coin star at work all the time =)

  • how much is a pre 64 nickel? thanks.

  • @ElginPocketwatch only nickels that have value are War Nickels (1942-1945) right now 1 war nickel is about $2.00

  • @MrCaryGrant59 This liberty head nickel made in 1913 wroth over $2,000,000.

  • where would you go to get your moneys worth from the silver? i mean can you sell the quarters on for example: ebay for 5 dollars a piece?

  • @skaterboy17901 you could sell them threw ebay but you have to pay seller fees and a final value fee for what it sees for also could try a coin shop. i have sold silver by makeing a video of what i am selling and was paid by paypal just shipped the silver to them

  • Got bored at work and found out that when I put in a 2001 dime, and hit the coin return on the vending machine, it gave me a 1975 dime... So I thought what the hell and put 14 dimes in and hit the return, nothing. Did it agian and saw something shiny... 1962 roosevelt dime! Tried it a few more time since and got nothing. Normally vending machines won't accept silver coins, I'm keeping that one seperate from my other silver as a momento. Silver's at $41+ right now, finding face value silver rules

  • That's funny that the machine didn't recognize the coins. Seems like if all it does is go by wight then someone could figure out a way to put some counterfiet coins in and get the money for them....But who would do that?????

  • Three weeks ago I came up with 20 silver dimes, Mercury Dimes from 1939-1945 from the bank. Never found these at any bank in the 25+ years I have been collecting coins and what a time when silver is going through the roof.
