thanks so mutch for this i heard this song along time ago, and never knew who it was by. too sad he passed away young and in such atragic manner.alice is one of my favorite seventis songs.
I have recently named my daughter Alice so was listening to Smokie's song on youtube. I was very sad to find out that Alan Barton had died, he must have been so young? He was a talented man and his friends and family must miss him very much.
He did leave behind some great songs and performances!
Alan Barton was a lovely man. I was at the Smokie gig after Valley Parade where Black Lace supported, and he smiled right into my camera lens. Then after he joined Smokie, I took my little girl to see them, and met Alan after. He was so lovely with her. Needless to say we were both gutted at this senseless tragedy, I cant believe it was so long ago in 1995. I am so pleased that all these years later someone has taken the time to post this tribute to a lovely, lovely man.
wasn't alan the lead singer of black lace? if so does any1 have any of there vidoes & does any1 have the chubby brown & smokie video of livin next door to alice?
Yes Alan was black laces oringal lead singer see this song if you can track down the song fiddling writen by Alan Barton Coiln Roth is a good black lace song.

I have just come across this song for Alan' I lost my brother in September last year' this song could have been reading for him.
I did a promo work for Black Lace' all Alan wanted in life was to see people singing and dancing to the music he wrote and recorded.
You did that my friend' your songs will keep you in the heart of your fans
Alan Barton RIP.
