Definitely a good Bond movie, I wish it wasn't so unremembered by everyone else. Largo is a great villain and while the action can be a little slow sometimes, it's still exciting.
Does anyone know why Terence Young didn't direct another Bond film after Thunderball? It just seems strange given that he established the Bond franchise. Was it simply that he felt he'd done all he could without repeating himself.
@DaveM599 Yeah, and I think he felt that way before taking on Thunderball, which I still say is an exceptionally bland piece of directing. The best bond directors have been Lewis Gilbert and Martin Campbell.
I didn't like Thunderball, it is one of the worst Bond movies, but still unfortunately not the worst of the Sean Connery Bond films (That's Diamonds Are Forever).
This movie was just really weak, weak script, poor direction, low key action, acting wasn't much. Just a very forgettable film. 5/10
I suppose it all boils down to what we find exciting but to me the underwater sequences went on way too long- and I think it was done much better in Licence to Kill.
Also having Terence Young back is hard to tell because this is nothing like his first two. He's more doing a blockbuster here but not very well. It's very rough round the edges. And a lot of characters seem not properly introduced. I don't watch this one much unless I feel like seeing Dominos foot being chewed on
Thunderball is pretty shodilly put together if you ask me. It feels rushed, with loads of mistakes and entire scenes you feel should have been chopped. Considering how expensive it was they should have taken longer over it. It still has connery and I agree the hottest bond girl ever! But overall it's one of the weaker ones and I give it a 6, just
My least favourite of all Bonds. It's edited almost incoherently and it feels like everything including the kitchen sink was thrown into the mix. Silly theme song. No one and nothing gets enough time to make an impression.
