  • "That's the guy. Go ahead and scare me to death. Go on now." Haha love it! Miss this! Thanks for posting it.

  • Tho it saddens me that Bill Cosby bought the rights to the "Song of the South" so it couldnt be rented or bought anymore. Zipiddi do da. the song was another childhood memory. Bought to hide the racism represented in the movie? something like that.

  • @TheDarklordBS If it is posted on here (I have not looked), you can downoad it

  • 287 knobs !!!!!!!!! and 6 FEET TALL !!!

  • I still have my old "LP" copy - this is great

  • @jammcd98 me, too (my dad's)

  • One of my all time favorite comedy bits.

  • *cracks up* Awesome!

  • That routine always cracked me up as a kid! Toomp...TOOMP! Toomp...TOOMP! Why can't comedians today be creative enough to be funny without being gross or sexual material, etc.? It takes real talent, like Cosby has, to be funny AND clean! :-)

  • Zip Zop Zobidy Bop

  • Bill cosby is /was a master at Good clean fun....He truely crossed all lines and brought everyone together with his great stories meant for ALL...

  • My 10 year old son loves stand-up comedy, but he listens to Jeff Dunham, which is not age appropriate. I decided to let him hear some Bill Cosby. He loves it!

  • Great memories of this, listening with my Dad. Thanks for posting!

  • I can remember hearing this on an old "LP" my mom had when I was a kid..

  • God how I miss this! I hadn't heard it in like 30 years!

  • You gotta wait...maybe, maybe eight days...for it to heat up...

  • Dude Now this is true comedy at it's best forget the other stuff listen to man and boy I tell you right now you wet your pants with laughter and if you don't then your crazy just plain crazy

  • Such a master comedian. I grew up with this stuff (my dad always played the records for me).

    =^^= Nya

  • "I was DUMB ENOUGH to do whatever the guy said to do, on the radio..." That would have been ME at 7 years old!!

  • Comment removed

  • "Hey, come here I want to show you my dumb kid!"

    Classic!

  • This is proof that Bill Cosby is the man!

    Thanks for posting, friend!

  • My father came in said "what's THIIIIS!?!?!?!" LOL!

  • This brings back lots of memories, my uncle had alot of his albums and let me borrow his records and our house burn down and we lost them all and since that day he has not let me borrow anything else lol.

  • "The heart ate him up."

    "WAAAAAAH!"

    *gulp!*

  • i love bill cosby he kicks ass

  • omg my mom used to play this for us on the vinyl record when we had sleep over's. it is my favorite ever.

  • Hear the real radio episode from the 40's: Youtube Lights Out The Chicken Heart

  • I love these. TOTAL Classics.

  • I grew up on this stuff - this was always one of my favorites. Still makes me laugh, to this day.

  • @fioletova

same here. I laugh so hard that 2 drops o' pee come out.

  • My girlfriend's '94 Saturn SW2 is nicknamed "The Chicken Heart"! lol Alternator blew while we were on vacation, car started making that "thump thump" noise just before we stopped to investigate and it immediately reminded me of this routine. At least we got a good laugh out of the unexpected $400 repair 400 miles from home. "Wonderfulness" was a favorite album when I was a child. Chicken Heart is a CLASSIC that played a part in my career choice as a professional Antique Radio & TV Restorer.

  • ROLF! I remember listening to these as a kid when I was supposed to be asleep on WRR-AM in Dallas in the '60s!

  • "I set the sofa on fire...chicken heart won't come near smoke and fire and jello!" little kids, home alone, listening to scary radio shows...they have quite an imagination. This is one of his best. I love the one where they race their homemade go-karts. "287 baby-coach wheels"

  • @charmingasalways

Oh yes =:-) The race on Dead Man's Hill!!

  • "Old Weird Harold had a Continental"

  • Okay, so I guess I didn't laugh as hard as I did the last time I heard it...about 40-something years ago, but it sure is funny, told by one of the greatest ever story tellers. Gee, you mean you can still be entertained even if every other word doesn't start with "F"? Noooooo.........say it ain't so.....

  • I listened to this album until the cover was worn thin. I love this. This is hilarious...the part where he was smearing the jello...funniest thing I've ever heard.

  • The're are tears in my eyes..SO funny...without a curse or dirty reference...

  • @MAJESTIcag7,

THAT is the beauty of Bill Cosby - he can tell a great story like this and NEVER utter a curse word!! It's no wonder he's so popular!!

  • Every time and i mean every time I listen to this i keep falling out of my chair LOL'ing XDXDXD

  • Good evening......

  • @ 1:31 - and I start smearing that jello...

  • i smell it too god scary

  • @wankerj An' the puddin' pops!

  • This is one of the greatest fall-down on the floor funniest comedy routines of all time! Brilliant storytelling from the King of Stories. Thank you Dr. Cosby.

The 1937 original from Arch Obler is just about as funny, as the ridiculous tale is told straight.

  • How in the world could this be told straight?? And, who cares about a 1937 "original" when this one is out there?

  • I mention that because it's interesting to compare the two versions and hear the roots of this classic yarn. Arch Obler's original (which Cos mentions in pt. 1) is hilarious, but in a different way than Cosby's classic take. Cos plays this like a good friend making his buddies laugh with a tall tale. Obler played it like a bad science fiction movie where the characters say and do absurd things with a straight face, which is what makes it funny. But they're both great.

  • Man, I heard this when I was really young and it actually scared me, but it's just funny now.

  • My teacher played us this recording in fourth grade. I loved it then and I love it now! Thank you for posting this!

  • Me too! Was at Wilshire Elementary and the hardest thing to put our heads down and stay quiet while wanting to laugh our ass off! Good times

  • GENIUS!

  • This album was in our family collection when I was growing up. The old LP is who knows where, but now on YouTube. High quality sound. Great listening. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • 287 knobs on his radio...

    who else noticed it?

Haha whatever Bill Cosby is awesome anyways

  • thanks for posting. I listened to this over and over again when I was a kid. great stuff.
