You sound like the kind of person who can handle it. It just takes time and pick your buyer as you would your highest paying customer for a special item they like. You can do it. Jack
Wow, here I was worried about their rounding down, rather than up, with the k's. Glad I am still holding on to mine. I need to find a guy to sell mine for me. I know my weights, and values. But, worry about some shady character taking advantage of what he thinks is my feme side.
Thanks so much for the tips and to swatch out for who I can sell my gold to. I have been testing mine and watching the prices on the Internet. Thanks for the heads up. I will make sure I pick the right person to sell it to.
@TheVintageDiaries the price someone pays for gold varies depending on the gold, 10k 14K or whatever, sometimes it is 8k - but you will get between 50% & 80% as a rule - when prospecting I could get 90 and 95% sometimes, and if in a nugget form would get 3 or 4 times spot. Nuggets are a whole different story. When selling shop around and find some one that makes you the best offer.
its a little off topic but I got stung bad with a gold & diamond broach , the buyer told me the diamonds were not real and so only gave me £50 for what turned out to be a £700 piece, I was young ...:-)
@paulspydar this happens if we don't watch what we are doing - and know - I sure got stung when I was younger. I quit doing business with people and keep a black book of the best buyers and only sell to them. thanks for the comment Jack the Unknown Picker and a little smarter with age LOL
Interesting stories Jack you can probably keep going for hours, good examples that teach to use your own tools drills and acid when testing other peoples gold or silver, coins can get extremely tricky too many fakes from China, coins need to be unpacked and have acid put on them the weight has to be exact, the problem with coins is the person selling them does not want them scratched on a stone or filed, the problem fakes are getting flawless soon scratching them or filing will be normal.
@TheSilverguy79 You sound sharp to me. Bet you know a lot about buying & selling gold & precious metals, we just have to be careful - thanks for your comment -- Jack

I told several pieces to several shops. Only one was truly honest with me. I think the cure would be to have a man go for me instead.
